Love In Twilight By Tiny Mountains Chapter 131

Chapter 131 I’m Her Husband

Clarissa turned around, and saw Rebecca Steward exiting from another private room.

Damien knew who Rebecca was. She had interviewed Clarissa for the position of her assistant in a

coffee shop before.

He wasn’t pleased about it. He said curtly to Clarissa, “I’ll be waiting in the car.”

Clarissa couldn’t care less about his frosty attitude. Ignoring him, she started chatting with Rebecca

“Why are you here? Don’t you have work?” Clarissa asked.

“Oh, I quit.” Rebecca replied, dissatisfaction evident in her glum tone. “You know Nicole, don’t you?

She was from your company.”

“Yeah, I know her.”

“Well, ever since she became Joseph’s assistant, she’s been bossing everyone around constantly. The

worst part? Joseph allowed it. Some of us quit because we couldn’t take it anymore. It’s really strange,

though. Joseph wasn’t like this before,” Rebecca explained as she crossed her arms, sounding quite

frustrated.

Clarissa wondered, ‘Could Nicole be the cause? She’s probably blackmailing Joseph, and he decided

to keep quiet for my sake. In a way, I’m responsible for everything that’s happening.’

“So, what are your plans? Are you looking for a new job?” Clarissa asked again.

“Not really. I’m going to take a vacation before I get back to working again.” Rebecca let out a chuckle.

“Who would’ve thought a famous accountant like me would be forced to leave by a complete nobody

like Nicole.”

Clarissa smiled at Rebecca. “I’ll keep an eye out for any job openings for you.”

“There’s no need for that. If you ask me, you need to look out for yourself more.” Having said that,

Rebecca left.

Once Clarissa got into the car, Damien asked, “What did you talk to her about?”

“Oh, it was nothing. She left her job and is now looking for a new one.”

“Why did she leave her job?”

Clarissa didn’t tell Damien the truth and replied casually, “Maybe she wanted a change of

environment.”

With that, they returned to the company.

Surprisingly, Madelynn was there. She was waiting in Damien’s office, a tissue in hand. “What is it?”

Damien took his blazer off.

“Damien, why did you force yourself into a contract marriage? Was it Grandpa? You didn’t have to do it!

If you need someone, you could’ve come to me!” Madelynn wailed in mock concern. She was going all

out to destroy his relationship with Clarissa until nothing was left.

“You’re a public figure.”

“When will the contract end?” Madelynn asked, purposefully ignoring his words. “No wonder you two

never had children!”

“Why would it end? There’s no end.” Damien stared at Madelynn with a deep gaze, lighting a cigarette

as he did so.

That stunned Madelynn. Shocked, she sputtered, “There’s no end? What do you mean? What’s the

contract for, then? Or are you waiting for Grandfather to…”

“This has nothing to do with Grandpa. I slept with Clarissa and married her. That’s all there is to it. Why

do you keep mentioning a contract?” Damien lifted his brows casually.

Upon hearing that, Madelynn was lost for words.

“O-Oh. Well… If that’s the case, then I wish the best for you two. I need to get back to work.” Madelynn

fled after saying that, leaving as quickly as her legs could carry her.

She narrowed her eyes in anger. If Damien’s marriage with Clarissa was just a contract marriage, then

he definitely did it because of Grandpa Lawrence. If that old fool dies, the contract would end!

That has to be it!

Another thought crossed her mind. ‘Everything ends when that old man’s life ends.’

‘So Grandpa Lawrence…’

The moment Madelynn left, a ringtone came from Damien’s blazer. His phone was on the table, so thisnovelbin

must be Clarissa’s.

It was a call from someone with the caller ID Anne.

S

“Miss Johnson! Miss Johnson, your mother’s awake! She just talked to me!” Anne’s ecstatic shout

could be heard.

Damien wanted to call Clarissa through the company’s phone, but he recalled what Theresa had said

to him the other day. And so, he decided to visit Theresa first.

“I’m her husband. Her phone’s with me,” Damien said.

“Oh!” Anne still sounded excited. “Then, please inform Miss Johnson that her mother’s awake.”

“I’ll be there. She’s still working right now.” “Alright, I’ll be waiting.” Anne hung up.
