Chapter 265

Chapter 265

Marvin

“I don’t have words.” Mario Castillo shook his head in disapproval.

I knew my dad wouldn’t be happy with the decision to call agent Clover to arrest Danny Hernandez, butI could not let that man walk free any longer.

“Tiago’s wedding is in a few days, and you’re pulling crazy stunts as if getting released from prisonwasn’t already enough.” My dad growled out.

“I did what I had to do, and I saved all of those girls, so I don’t care what you think of me.”

“And we were about to throw him to the wolves anyway, so what does it matter?” I chuckled. “The issuehas already been taking care of.”

“Yes, and now they know that we have something to do with it!” Victor agreed with my dad. To behonest, I didn’t even know why he was in the conversation. He wasn’t even a real part of the family.

“You?” I laughed, confused. That was one funny statement, considering I had to carry the burden ofbeing a rat. “So everyone can see me like a rat, but they can’t see any of you as a rat?“

“That’s not what I meant.”

“Then what did you mean?” I snapped. Mario Castillo, who always loved a good fight, looked back andforth between Victor and me, but I wasn’t going to fall for it. Not this time.

“Am I free to go? I would like to spend my time with Tiago…my only brother.” I spoke as I looked intoVictor’s eyes. Victor barely cracked, but I could see the hurt expression behind his eyes. That’s what I

wanted. I wanted to break him. He must’ve felt comfortable because I was locked up, but I was back, and things were going to change.

I would be the head of the family, and Victor should know his place.

“You’re free to go,” Victor gulped. I held my hand in the air to stop him and pulled a disgusted look. “I’mnot asking you.”

My dad smacked his hands on the table and laughed as if he was Santa on Christmas eve. “He haschang a lot, hasn’t he?” He laughed at Victor. “I heard he was well-respected in prison.”

“Dad, can I go?”

“You’re free to go.” He motioned his hands towards the door. I turned around and walked out withoutgiving my dad as much as a single glance. This man was ridiculous, and everyone knew it, except forhimself.

He had never treated me the way he should’ve, so one could only imagine how he treated poor Tiago.

“That Victor has a lot to say, hasn’t he?” Panther stirred the pot. If there was anyone who deserved thetitle of trouble-maker, it had to be Panther, but he was right this time.

“Has he been like this the entire time?” I wondered. I knew he always acted as if he was some higherup.

but I had never remembered him being this comfortable in our household. Better yet, I had neverremembered him disrespecting me.

“He’s been like this since the day you got locked up.” Panther explained. “Mario thought you’d belocked up for life, so he promised Victor the family business.”

“He did what!” I yelled out, but before I could cause any more commotion, Panther slammed his hand infront of my mouth. “Not that loud, idiot.” He whispered. “It’s not confirmed, but it’s what the guys havebeen saying.”

I took a relieved breath and gave Panther a nudge against his shoulder. Panther was the type of guy toget people killed with these weird statements. Mario Castillo was all about family, so I was sure hewould rather hand the business over to Tiago instead of Victor.

“So we’re going to Tiago?” Panther asked, but I immediately shook my head. “Nah, he doesn’t want tosee

me.”

“You’re right. He doesn’t.”

It was only an excuse to get my dad off my back, and now that it had been taken care of, I would enjoymy freedom and spend my day as I wanted. “Have you seen my mom around?”

“Some things never changed.” Panther mocked me. “After all these years, you’re still a mama boy.”

1 gave Panther a look, daring him to make fun of me once more, while he held up his hand in defense.“She’s in the yard, come on.”

Panther led me towards my mom. I stared at her from a distance and smiled as she read a magazinewhile she sat on a lounge chair. My mom was my queen, and she lived the life she deserved. She wasthe only sane person in this household, especially after Tiago decided to bail on me.

“Marvin!” I heard a voice call out. Panther grabbed me by my shoulders and turned me around, so Icoul look at Karina and her friends who were seated at the pool. “Do you want to spend time withmommy, c do you want to spend time with girls in bikinis?” Panther whispered.

One of the girls stood up and waved her hands enthusiastically, motioning for me to come over. Karinaseemed annoyed by her friend and pulled dragged down her hand. I barely even knew these girls, butthey knew me,

“How about you go? I want to spend some time with my mom.”novelbin

The truth was that I didn’t want to be surrounded by other women. There was only one person on mymind, and that was Elena Torres. Our meeting was only a few days away, but I was patient and loyal.

We had only spoken to each other through our emails, but I had never felt this way about anyone.Elena was kind, funny, understanding, and unless she was a catfish, absolutely breathtaking. Even ifshe were to be a catfish, I would still want to be with her.

Others might’ve thought I was crazy 1, but it was the truth. I fell in love with her heart and herpersonality.

I could’ve done a background check on her, or I could’ve let someone follow her, but I didn’t. I wantedto meet her like a man, so I could tell her how much she meant to me.

“That’s okay. It means more for me.” Panther spoke as he brushed off his shirt. He made his waytowards

Karina and her friends while I walked over to my mom.

“It seems like you just can’t get enough of your mom.” She smiled as she lowered her sunglasses. Igrabbed her hand and sat down next to her.

“I missed you, mom.

At times it felt like she was the only one who was genuinely happy to have me back. She took care ofme made all of my meals, and asked about my well-being, while all my dad could talk about was thebusiness I wouldn’t even start on Tiago. He had so much to say when I was in prison, but now hewouldn’t even talk

to me.

“I missed you too, and so did Tiago.” My mom smiled. “You know, he’s so happy you’re here to be hisgroomsman.”

“Yes, I bet he is.”

“Don’t be like that.” My mom sighed. “I don’t like it when the two of you don’t get along.

“Mom, I didn’t do anything.” I explained calmly. “I don’t know if he feels threatened by my presence or ifI’ve crossed him the wrong way-but I’m not the one he should be looking out for.”

“Then who is? Victor?”

My mom had a defeated and disappointed look on her face, but I was only looking out for everyone. The way Victor had managed to get himself into the family business was worrisome, considering hewas not even part of the family. “You know what, let’s talk about something else.”

“I agree.” My mom nodded as she turned her head to Karina and her friends. “In the past you were allabout women. Did prison made you switch, or is there something you have to tell me?”

I hadn’t even noticed the smile on my face until my mom touched the corner of my lips. Only onewoman had this kind of effect on me, and that was Elena. “I met someone,” I told my mom. “Well, Ihaven’t exactly met her yet, but we will—soon.”

“She was my pen pal, and we have been writing each other emails, and she’s so easy to talk to.” Ishared asked her to meet me in a few days, and if she feels the same way I do, she’ll do it.”

“Is that so?” My mom smiled suspiciously. “And does she knows about this family?”

The smile on my face had quickly vanished. There was a possibility that she knew, but there was, ofcourse, a bigger possibility that she didn’t. I hadn’t even thought about that, and I was going insane. What if she did not even want to meet me? What if she wouldn’t show up?

“I don’t know if she knows about this family.” I told my mom. “But I do know one thing.”

“I know that I love her.”
