Chapter 506 Do Not Want Her To Misunderstand

D

After observing for a while, Lysander noticed that Aurora didn’t seem uncomfortable in his arms. In fact,Aurora was curiously playing with his sleeve cuff while she was slowly sipping his milk.

However, her eyes never once left this tiny bundle throughout the entire time.

She cautioned, “Although Aurora is not shy around strangers, you should still be careful.”

A subtle hint of amusement glimmered in Josiah’s eyes. his voice noticeably softened, radiating warmthand affection. “I know.”

He asked, “Did you sleep well last night?”

“Mm.” Lysander asked, “After we finish eating, where should we start learning from?”

Josiah said, “No rush, let’s meet someone first.”

As he spoke, he reached out for a brightly colored lisianthus from the vase on the table. After carefullywiping off the water droplets from the stem with a tissue, he handed it over to Aurora.

Children’s attention spans are short. Aurora, who had grown bored with the shiny cufflink, immediatelybeamed, her large, dark eyes sparkling with delight as she babbled incomprehensibly.

Lysander’s gaze softened. “Kids are so easy to please. Just a flower can make her this happy.”

Josiah chuckled, holding the child closer. “Being easy to please is a good trait.”

As soon as she finished speaking, she paused before emphasizing seriously, “I am glad that she’ssomeone else’s child. it is fine to play with her for a while like this, but if it is your own child, don’texpect to have this kind of leisure time. Taking care of a child is very tedious.”

“I am not afraid of complications.”

Lysander paused while she was drinking milk.

However, she quickly regained her composure. She then plucked another rose from the vase andpresented it to Aurora.

Aurora was immediately captivated by the bright red rose, promptly discarding the lisianthus she hadjust

moments ago.

Josiah lifted his hand to accept the rose, his fingertips lightly brushing against the back of her hand.

Lysander decisively withdrew her hand, instantly breaking contact with him.

Aurora didn’t understand or know about the affairs of adults. Seeing a flower was enough to make herhappy. She immediately wanted to reach out and touch it, but before she could, the flower suddenlymoved away, sparking her interest and causing her to extend her tiny hand eagerly.

Josiah was worried she might come into contact with the pollen. He tactfully moved his hand backward.creating a safe distance between her and the flower. Once she retracted her hand, he playfully shiftedthe flower forward again, making it seem as if he was engaging her in a game.

“Mhm.”

“Don’t worry, she loves flowers and won’t squeeze them too hard.”

The woman soon returned with a tray of fruit and whole grain bread, alongside a stack of egg tarts anddesserts. Without the tarts and desserts, it would look like a healthy breakfast.

The breakfast reflected her own elegant yet easygoing demeanor.

Josiah greeted her calmly. “Ms. Lionhart, long time no see.”

Nieva smiled warmly. “Mr. Guerra, I was planning to catch up with you after breakfast. Didn’t expect torun into you so soon.”

After speaking with Josiah, she turned to Lysander, smiling reassuringly. “I knew it, anyone in this spotmust be connected to Mr. Guerra.”

Sensing Lysander’s discomfort, Josiah smoothly introduced her, “Let me introduce you. This is Ms.Nieva Lionhart, and she’s married.”

He emphasized the word “married.”

Nieva Lionhart laughed. “Oh, I get it.

Josiah smiled. “What do you get?”

“You emphasized I am married to avoid any misunderstandings on her side.”

Josiah didn’t deny it. “This is Lysander Thorne. She’s going to take over Thorne Constructions andEnergies soon.”

Nieva nodded with a smile. “Hello, Ms. Thorne.”

Lysander also greeted her. “Hello, Ms. Lionhart. It seems we’re quite fated.”

Nieva was outgoing and talkative. She was already enthusiastic when she had a chance encounterwith Lysander. Now her enthusiasm increased upon learning of Lysander’s connection to Josiah. “As Isaid, meeting by chance means we’re destined to be friends.”

Aurora enthusiastically responded with an “Oh.”

Infected by Nieva’s cheerfulness, Lysander felt much of her earlier unease fade away.

Noticing Josiah’s skillful handling of the child, Nieva teased, “Mr. Guerra, what have you been up to?You seem to have picked up new skills. Planning to become a doting father?”

She was merely jesting but had hir close to home. However, Josiah didn’t reveal his real thoughts andsaid, “it is just taking care of a child. I picked it up from watching others.”

Impressive, Nieva remarked, then got to business. “By the way, you still haven’t told me why youinvited

me for this free vacation.”

Josiah dodged the question with a smile. “It has been a while since we last met. Let’s not spoil themood by talking about work. I’ll take care of Aurora while you two enjoy breakfast.”

Understanding his intent, Nieva smiled meaningfully. “You’ve changed, becoming more consideratetowards women.”

Catching on, Josiah smiled back. “Your daughter is adorable. I remember when I went to herwelcoming party at Hofcaster, she was tiny like a kitten.”

“That was six months ago. Kids change quickly,” Nieva said, proudly looking at her daughter. “Youreminded me how much she’s grown. We often don’t notice it.”

Lysander’s earlier suspicions were confirmed. Nieva’s background was indeed impressive.

Josiah knew of Lysander’s sharp wit and assumed she would have pieced together the situationregarding the Lionhart family by now. He asked, “Have you been so busy staying home with Aurora hatyou’ve neglected your investments?”

“I still handle stuff, but not as closely as before. I believe in balancing work and rest. Not everyone islike you, willing to live for work.”

Nieva was laid back and enjoyed traveling with her daughter. In passing, she asked, “You’re not tryingto play matchmaker for someone, are you?”

“Your family deals in finance. Can’t I need your help?” Josiah replied lightly.

Though silent. Lysander perked up at mentioning “investment” and “finance.”

After days of immersing herself in financial news, Lysander had developed a keen instinct andimmediately pondered why Nieva was here.

Josiah wouldn’t reconnect with an old friend without a reason.

Ever direct, Nieva said, “Come on, with your resources, I might need your help someday. You wouldnever need my investment. Is it for Ms. Thorne? Josiah, you’ve fallen hard!”

Josiah laughed. “You just have to get a jab in, don’t you?”

Nieva pressed, “Okay, stop beating around the bush. If it is something I can help with, I will. If not, noamount of persuasion will change that.”

Josiah’s tone turned serious. “I’ll get to the point.”novelbin

Without any warning, he brought Lysander into the conversation. “Lysander has a friend whose familybusiness is facing financial difficulties. I hope you can help.”
