Chapter 438 The Enemy Of My Enemy Is My Friend

Lysanne was relentless. “Even if Josiah didn’t say anything, you still need to secure your position. Aslong- as I don’t agree, don’t even dream about resting easy!”

Lysander asked coldly, “Is that so?”

Lysanne began to lay out her terms. “I’m not asking for much. We’re both daughters of the Thornefamily. so let’s split it evenly. I want half of the shares in the Thorne family’s company, and you need toreturn the public funds you’ve moved. The three million our father gave you can be overlooked, but atleast half of the remaining twelve million, which is on the company’s books, needs to be returned, right?”

Unable to hold back her amusement, Lysander asked, “Are these your thoughts, or are they Josiah’s?”

Lysanne slightly lifted her chin, a smug smile playing on her meticulously made–up face. She lookeddown on Lysander with disdain and said, “Initially, it was my idea, but when I mentioned it to Josiah, hedidn’t object. So, it’s also his idea, I suppose. All we’re asking is for you to cough up six million, whichisn’t a lot.”

The more one lacked something, the more one tended to emphasize it. Lysander recalled Josiah, whowas said to be away on a business trip by Carol. With a cold gaze, she responded decisively, “Let memake it crystal clear to you. It’s impossible. If you can’t accept it, feel free to sue me in court.”

The funds had already been paid to the bank through Daphne’s account, so Lysander truly couldn’tcome up with any money.

Lysanne, however, was not overly concerned about money. She shifted the focus, stating. “There’s norush for the money, but what about the shares? The contract stipulates that you must give me half of

the shares. That’s what I’m entitled to.”

Lysander’s expression grew colder, her bare face masked with a chill. “I’ve said it before. If you trulybelieve you’re in the right, then take me to court and sue me through the proper channels. Whateverthe judgement is after the trial, so be it.”

Upon seeing her unresponsiveness and her complexion drastically changing, Lysanne squeezed out asentence. “Do you think I don’t dare?”

“Of course not, Lysander assured her calmly, “I just believe in the fairness of the judiciary and I alsorespect the solemnity of the law.”

The law would never condone such unreasonable behavior.

After Lysander finished speaking, she bypassed Lysanne and left the restroom. She had just enteredthe corridor when she heard hurried footsteps behind her. It was Lysanne, persistently following her inher high heels.

Lysanne was nearly out of breath. Stop right there!”

Lysander ignored her, nonchalantly continuing her journey back.

Lysanne pursued stubbornly, stating, “Do you think I’m just after the money? I’m considering the effortsof our parents. You’ve always been in medicine, and you’ve never been exposed to businessmanagement, let alone understand the principles of operation. Handing the company over to you wouldonly squander

their hard work!”

grew colder and colder. She felt it was unfair to her biological parents, and her irritation toward hermeddling increased.

Lysander halted in his tracks.

Lysanne quickly moved in front of her, blocking her path.

The corridor near the restroom was a fair distance away from the pond, surrounded by an abundanceof subtly swaying ferns. While they were bathed in the light from the lamps along the walkway, it wasimpossible for anyone to hide the smallest of expressions on their faces.

Anxious. Lysanne played the emotional card. “Even if you haven’t lived with them, even if you don’t feelclose to them, you can’t just sit back and watch their business crumble, right? Dad has already givenyou three million.”

This three million was a personal asset that Howard had transferred to Lysander through his individualaccount. If it weren’t for this, she feared she might have had to split even this amount in half.

With patience, Lysander retorted, “Even if I can’t, what about you? Are you capable of running thecompany?”

“You don’t need to worry about that,” Lysanne said, brimming with an inexplicable confidence. “Didn’tJosiah manage Thome Constructions and Energies well in the past? If you transfer the company to myname, I can find a way to have him continue helping”

Lysander raised an eyebrow. “And then?”

Lysanne, puzzled, asked, “Is there even a need to ask? Of course, everything will remain the same. The company’s growth will surely surpass what it was under your management.”

She didn’t mention a word about equity division or profit distribution, completely forgetting the reasonshe had just used to ask for a share of the money.

Lysander was not in the mood for idle chatter with her. Maintaining a straight face, she said, “Goodidea, but as I’ve said before. No matter what you plan to do, you should go to court first. Until I see thecourt’s verdict, I don’t want to and won’t discuss this any further.”

Naturally, Lysanne didn’t dare to engage in a lawsuit. Seeing Lysander about to leave, she gritted herteeth and said, “If you don’t agree, I have another solution.”

“I’m not interested…” Lysander’s words were abruptly cut off.

With an air of having made a significant concession, Lysanne said, “As long as you return to Josiah’sside, he will still help manage the Thorne family’s company. Surely, this wouldn’t put you at adisadvantage, right?”

Astonished, Lysander drew in a sharp breath, her face filled with confusion as she asked, “Do you evenknow what you’re saying?”

Lysanne’s complexion had paled a shade more than before. Her best foundation couldn’t hide hercurrent indignation. Yet, for the sake of her interests, she managed to suppress the urge to have an

outright. confrontation with Lysander/asking. “For you, this solution should be more acceptable than theprevious one, right?”

A gust of wind swept through, causing the leaves to stle sofil.

Lysander turned solemn and said, “You’re overthinking it. I’m just a bit curious. Why did your attitudechange so quickly? You were clearly at odds with me before, doing everything in your power to pushme away from Josiah. So why now have you suddenly started voicing different opinions?”

Something must be amiss if one is exhibiting abnormal behavior.

Lysanne thought she was moved by his words, so she casually said, “Because I understand theprinciple that the enemy of my enemy is my friend, and now you’re no longer my enemy.”novelbin

Lysander didn’t readily believe these few words. She replied nonchalantly. “It seems you’ve had quite afew enemies lately.”

Living like this was truly exhausting. She was grateful that she had managed to extricate herself fromthe whirlpool that was Josiah’s life in time.

Unaware, Lysanne continued, “You saw Tiffany just now, didn’t you? She’s currently the one Josiahopenly acknowledges as his girlfriend, and most likely to become his fiancée. I want to get her out ofthe picture.”

Even to this day, she still couldn’t comprehend where the problem lay. She naively thought that as longas she could outshine the women by Josiah’s side, she would obtain what she had always dreamt of.

Lysander despised her, yet at the same time, she pitied Lysanne’s short–sightedness.

Lysanne managed to steer the conversation back. “I may be out of the picture for now, but it’s differentfor you. I can tell that you still hold a significant place in his heart. If you’re willing to swallow your prideand make concessions, he may not necessarily end up marrying Tiffany.”

Her inexplicable self–confidence was truly admirable,

A twitch tugged at the corner of Lysander’s mouth, her emotions more absurd than hearing a fantasticaltale. “Your imagination is truly rich. But please, keep it to yourself. Don’t drag me into it.”

The events of the past, each and every one of them, were deeply etched in her heart. They served asreminders for her to live each upcoming day to the fullest, never to tread back on the path she hadalready walked.

Lysanne saw that Lysander was not buying her act, so she intentionally put on a pleasant face andtried to persuade her, “You’ve misunderstood me. I just feel that you and I are the same. After all, we’reboth daughters of our parents. Even though one of us is biological and the other is adopted, we’re stillcloser to each other than we are to Tiffany.”

She had never paid attention to these things before.

Lysander spoke candidly. “I noticed you’re quite close with Tiffany. Weren’t you just holding hands andtaking pictures by the pond?”
