Chapter 325 Hanging By A Thread

“Dr. Thorne?” said Lysanne.

Lysander was already exhausted, her whole body weakening as she could only manage to nodfervently.

Lysanne crouched down, quietly asking. “Are you all right?”

Lysander nodded, signaling for Lysanne to go get help quickly. She estimated that with Lysanne’sstrength, the latter would probably not be able to carry her out.

“Lost your voice?”

Lysander nodded fervently, persistently signaling with her eyes for Lysanne to call someone over.

It seemed as though Lysanne didn’t catch her hint and even mumbled a few words. “So, she’s tied up.No wonder she couldn’t break free.”

“Lysanne!” It was the voice of Josiah, who had come over.

Lysander desperately tried to climb out, but in the next moment, a pair of hands firmly gripped hershoulders.

Startled, she looked up only to see a fleeting, ruthless glint in Lysanne’s eyes. Then, with a suddenforce, Lysanne pushed her back and quickly locked the cabin door from the outside.

Josiah moved quickly. When he jumped onto the ship, the entire vessel gave a slight shudder. “Did youfind her? Is she in here?”

“Stop! Josiah, don’t open it! Dr. Thorne isn’t in there. just opened the door. It’s all ablaze inside.already.”

“Did you open the door to take a look?”

“I did. It was completely empty inside. Dr. Thorne wasn’t there, and the fire was raging in the cabin. Iwas afraid the fire would spread, so I quickly shut the cabin door again.”

Daphne also arrived, asking, “What are you guys doing here? Did you find her?”

“No,” Lysanne said. “Let’s keep going. The fire is too intense. We need to find Dr. Thorne as soon aspossible.”

Daphne hummed in acknowledgment, “Then, I’ll continue over there.”

“All right” Lysanne said. “I’ll continue to search around. Josiah, you should head over there quickly,

too.”novelbin

Josiah didn’t reply.

ourse, I’m certain. I was also worried that the heavy smoke might ol scure my view, so I just bent

to take a closer look. Indeed, there was no one inside.”

Josiah didn’t say anything.

“By the way, Josiah, it just occurred to me. If Dr. Thome heard our voices, with her intelligence, she’dcertainly devise a way to get our attention. We need to be extra vigilant for any unusual vessels. Itmight speed up our search.”

Once again, Josiah remained silent.

“Hey, did you hear something from that boat? Josiah, I think I just heard some noise coming from it.”

Immediately, Josiah asked, “Which one?”

“It’s to your left. Do you see it? It’s among those few ships over there. I’m not sure which one exactly, but I’m certain the sound came from that direction.”

Following that, there was a flurry of hurried footsteps

After the boat violently rocked, it eventually returned to calmness.

The voices of everyone around began to grow increasingly distant.

Lysander lay on the ground, letting out a bitter chuckle. Oh, Lysanne. She pretended to be a weaklingfor so long. At last, the opportunity for her revenge had arrived. Was it merely a coincidence that shetook advantage of the situation, or had she been in contact with Hariy all along? I forgot that Lysanneand Harry met each other overseas. How could she possibly not know about what Harry had beenthrough recently? I know Josiah must’ve sent the money to Harry, but I bet he lost contact with Harryafter that. Then, it was Lysanne who found me with unerring accuracy. Could such coincidences reallyexist in the world? My lack of vigilance is to blame. I shouldn’t have lowered my guard around Lysanne, and now I’ll never see the light of day again.

The fire was rapidly consuming the entire ship cabin.

Lysander was on the verge of suffocation. In one moment, she was enveloped by pure white smoke. Inthe next, she was plunged into the dark realm of unconsciousness.

Earlier, she exhausted all her energy trying to catch Lysanne’s attention. The lack of oxygen made herconsciousness gradually hazy, slowly sinking into oblivion.
