Chapter 928 She Owes Money

Chapter 928 She Owes Money

Time flies by in the blink of an eye. Rhys closed his computer and got up, preparing to go home.

Almost at the same time, Jenna also stood up.

"I have a social engagement tonight, you can go back by yourself," Rhys glanced at her and walkedaway with long strides.

He deliberately sent the driver away to make things difficult for Jenna.

Jenna had planned to take a taxi home, but after searching through her bag, she realized that shehad forgotten to bring any money with her. With no other options available, she was forced to walkhome.

"You're such a penny-pincher, even though you're a CEO. It's fine that you sent the driver away, butat least leave me some spare change!"

On the way back, Jenna kept cursing Rhys in her mind.

As she was passing by a small alley, several men suddenly emerged from the side and surroundedher in the middle.

"Jenna, I heard you married a wealthy man, so you should have quite a bit of money, right? Wehappened to run low on cash at the moment. Could you give us some? We've known each other fora long time, so help us out."

The leader of the group smirked and leaned towards Jenna, reaching out to touch her cheek.

"Long time no see, you look even more beautiful now."

Jenna slapped his hand and immediately recognized him as the creditor who had come to theirhouse to collect debts before.

At that time, my father owed a huge gambling debt and the creditors came knocking on our doorevery day to collect. They banged on the door loudly, causing us to huddle together in the closet forsafety - my mother, younger brother and I.

But now, with the five million, this debt should have been paid off.

"The money has been returned to you. What do you mean by this? Do you want me to report to thepolice?"

Jenna took out her phone with a cold expression and pretended to call the police.

His expression changed instantly, and he stopped harassing her, taking out an IOU from his bagand slapping it down in front of her.

"The previous debts have been paid off, but how about the debts incurred in the past two days? Atthe gambling table, your father said that his daughter married into a wealthy family and doesn't lackmoney."

Jenna suddenly had a bad feeling.

She took the IOU and glanced at the amount, getting so angry.

The more money you owe, the deeper the hole becomes. At this rate, it would take eight lifetimes tofill it up.

"Debts must be repaid, it's only natural. Since your father doesn't have the money, you'll have torepay it. You've found such a good in-law family, I'm sure you don't want this matter to escalate, doyou?"

"If you don't repay the money, I'll expose this matter. By then, your in-laws will kick you out, andthen I'll drag you to nightclubs. You look pretty, young, and can use that to make money."

Jenna immediately understood his meaning and looked around, hoping to find an opportunity toescape.

There were many people surrounding her, so she had to figure out a way to calm them down first.

"I will repay this money, but you can't drag my dad into gambling anymore. If it happens again, Iwon't take care of him."

"This won't work." The man directly refused, "It's your dad who wants to play with me, what does ithave to do with us?"

Such a good money tree, unless they are crazy, how could they possibly give up?

"Don't talk to me about the future, just pay back the money now. Call your husband and have himsend the money over!"

Outside the alley, Kamden parked the car and stared inside for a while.

"Rhys, it seems like your wife is inside and being blocked by a group of people. Could she be indanger?"

"That should be her old lover, I suppose," Rhys said nonchalantly without even blinking.

The assistant had information on herself. Jenna had worked at nightclubs before.

I know very well what a nightclub is.

"Tsk, it's true that you don't love her. You can really be heartless." Kamden glanced a few moretimes into the old alleyway.

Suddenly, he became nervous and pushed Rhys with his hand. "Your wife got beaten up!"

Rhys cursed under his breath and quickly got out of the car by opening the door.

Walking to the entrance of the alley, he took out his phone and opened the video recording function, then went straight to Jenna's side.

"Oh, it's so late and yet a hero comes to save the day. Judging by your attire, you must be quitewealthy," the thug looked at Rhys and held up five fingers.

"As long as you are willing to pay, we'll let her go."

"Fifty thousand?" Rhys asked, frowning.

"Of course not, are you joking with me?" The thug laughed loudly as if he had heard a joke.

After laughing enough, he told Rhys, "500, 000. If you can afford it, give it to me. If you can't affordit, get lost. If you keep talking nonsense, believe it or not, we will cripple you?"

"Why are you here? Just leave. This has nothing to do with you." Jenna pulled his sleeve and saidin a low voice that was loud enough for Rhys to hear.

"You've only been married to me for two days, and you owe half a million dollars." Rhys shook offher hand and revealed his identity to the gang in front of him.

"I'm Rhys. My wife owes you money, right? I'm here to pay it back, but you just said you werecrippling me. How are we going to settle this?"

The gang instantly quieted down.

The small gang members looked at each other for a few seconds in shock before running away. They wanted the money, but they weren't stupid enough to mess with the Williams family.

"You're quite impressive; owing so much in just two days. If it goes on like this for another year orso, will you have lost all the properties of the entire Williams family?" Rhys mocked Jenna as hespoke.

It turned out that she wasn't just good at making people angry; her ability to rack up debts was alsounparalleled and awe-inspiring.

Jenna silently got up from the ground and shook her head. "Thank you for helping me today. Thisisn't my debt; it's my father's fault. They always force him into gambling and then come asking forrepayment when he loses."

She had experienced countless situations like this since childhood.

"Why do you care about him? If those people can't get their money back, they won't be able to dragyour father into gambling again," Rhys added some blame into his tone, "Isn't all of this happeningbecause of your enabling them?"

Jenna fell silent.novelbin

She admitted that what Rhys said made sense, but those people would come knocking on her door, smashing things, or even trying to take away her little brother as collateral if they didn't get paidback immediately.

She had talked with her mother about moving houses multiple times already – every time afterfinding a new place though, her father would go gamble again and creditors would find their waythere soon after.

"What are your plans regarding these debts?"

As they left the alleyway behind them, Rhys casually asked Jenna.
