"They can't even stand this tension? What losers!" Matthew rigidly stated. On the board, the situationbetween the two was getting more and more heated. He couldn't do anything to Zack, neither could theman force him to surrender. Matthew was not in a hurry. Whether it was in the real war or the game,one should not be in a hurry or arrogant. Zack gently smiled in response. "Your Highness, I'm only twenty years old right now, seven yearsyounger than you. If I'm old, then you're older. Don't forget that you're also ten years older than Harper.In her mind, you will always be much older than me."
Matthew narrowed his eyes, quite dissatisfied with Zack provoking him. Although he didn't want to, hehad to admit that he was really older. Harper was only seventeen years old, and he was alreadytwenty-seven. Without any hesitation, Zack stated, "Of course, you will! Harper said that this place is her home. I betshe'll come back."
"You're wrong. What she means is anywhere that we're together is her home. If I'm not here, will thisplace still be her home? We actually came back this time to say goodbye to you," Matthew said with asmirk on his face. He said these only to disturb Zack.
Zack's hand paused for a second when he was about to move a stone. Then, he steadily put it in theplace where he wanted to. Though there was a moment of panic, he soon calmed down.
"I trust her. By the way, you lost, Your Highness." Zack then laughed while looking at him straight in theeyes.
Looking at the game on the board, Matthew was forced to the dead end. He didn't have a choice but toadmit that Zack was an opponent worth to be praised. Even though he was a mere scholar who wasconsidered weak, his astuteness and resourcefulness were absolutely no worse than his. If he foughtagainst Matthew with everything he got, not caring about Harper's thoughts, the result would be hard totell.
Matthew threw the stone in his hand back into the container and said, "I'm not your opponent in the Gogame."
"Thank you for letting me win, Your Highness." Then, Zack put the stones back into the container oneby one. His posture was elegant and relaxed, just like clouds in the sky. It was actually quitemesmerizing.
That was exactly the peaceful scene that Harper saw when she came back. A knowing smile emergedon her face. 'Matthew must have lost again. Although he has recently read a lot of books aboutimproving his skills, it's not easy for him to win Zack who plays Go all year round,' she thought.
"Matthew, Zack, it seems like you've already got the result," Harper said while she walked over to them.
"Harp, I lost and I'm not happy. Why don't you help me in playing against him? Let's bring him down! I'llbe here as your adviser," Matthew stated, as if he was really serious.novelbin
He made Harper sit in his chair and quickly collected the stones. Then he casually grabbed some of thestones and asked, ""Prime number or even number?"
"Even," Harper responded with a smile.
"Then I guess prime," Zack announced.
Matthew released his hand and loudly declared, "Even number! Harp, you have the black stones andmove first! It's not too late for you to surrender now, Zack."
Looking at each other, Harper and Zack shook their heads in resignation. They didn't know whether tolaugh or cry at Matthew's childish behaviors, but neither of them blatantly showed it. Soon enough, theystarted the game once more.
