Chapter 293

Chapter 293

Elizabeth was a bit disappointed. The Lamont family really looked down on them! However, even thoug

h Cathrine didn’t come, she sent someone with a gift, which was not exactly an embarrassment for the

Macclain family in front of the guests.

Elizabeth smiled kindly. “Thanks for making the trip! Have a seat and have some tea.”

Millard thanked Elizabeth, and had someone bring the gift over.

Elizabeth quickly told Corley to take it. Seeing it was a painting, she

immediately had him unwrap it in front of everyone.

Once the wrapping was off, everyone gasped, “This is a rare masterpiece!”

“It’s a real work of art; so valuable!”

“I heard it was at an auction awhile back, and the Lamont family got it!”

The previous auction was a private one, and getting in had strict qualifications. Not only did you need to

have money, but you also need to have high social status.novelbin

Elizabeth’s eyes filled with delight as she touched the painting, her eyes shining, ‘It’s so beautiful!”

Terrence was excited too, “How can we accept such a precious gift from Cathrine?”

Natalia gave Corley a meaningful look, full of joy, and whispered, “I didn’t expect the Lamont family to v

alue Sabina so much!”

She didn’t believe that the Lamont family sent such a carefully prepared gift just for the Macclain family

’s sake. It must be because of their Sabina!

Corley couldn’t help but be proud, blurting out, “Sabina, you should give Mr. Lamont a call later and th

ank him properly!”

A rare smile appeared on Sabina’s usually arrogant face, “I will!”

If it were a gift from someone else, she wouldn’t think much of it. But since it was Millard who came, an

d he was Jonathan’s man, it was clear who the gift was from!

She didn’t expect Jonathan to value her so much!

Elizabeth held Sabina’s hand with a meaningful smile, “You must thank him, and on behalf of your gran

dmother too. Invite him over when he has

time!”

Terrence was all smiles too. He suddenly remembered the joking marriage agreement between the Ma

cclain and Lamont families back when they were prosperous. He hadn’t taken it seriously before, but n

ow, considering the Lamont family’s attitude, maybe it was worth reconsidering.

Listening to the Macclain family’s conversation, Millard felt something was off.

His face showed no emotion, but his brow furrowed as he suddenly turned and walked toward the side

hall.

The Macclain family looked at Millard in surprise, not knowing what he was up to.

Millard went straight to Estelle, showing deep respect, “Ms. Macclain, Mr. Lamont had to go

to H City today, so he couldn’t come in person. I hope you’ll understand. Now that the painting is here,

we’ll leave now!”

Estelle instantly understood that Millard was trying to protect her. She got up gracefully, smiling, “Thank

you, and please pass on my thanks to Mr. Lamont as well!”

“You’re welcome, Ms. Macclain. Goodbye!”

Millard had a naturally cold expression, never showing any unnecessary emotion. Even when giving Eli

zabeth the gift, he showed no change in his demeanor. However, when facing Estelle, he was complete

ly respectful and humble.

The Macclain family was stunned, looking at each other in confusion.

After saying goodbye to Estelle, Millard didn’t bother saying farewell to the rest of the Macclain family, n

or did he even glance at Sabina, before leaving with his entourage.

There was a brief silence in the living room. Elizabeth looked at Estelle, puzzled, “Estelle, come here!”
