Chapter 1780

Chapter 1780novelbin

The two of them headed to a supermarket near Bright Commercial Center. With Charlie maneuvering

the shopping cart and Emily handpicking ingredients, it felt like a familiar scene.

"The beef looks good today, how about I make some steak bites with bell peppers?" Emily turned to

ask Charlie.

Charlie chuckled warmly, “Whatever you cook, I'll eat."

When Charlie smiled, Emily's heartbeat quickened. She hastily picked up the beef and placed it in the

cart, continuing their stroll.

When it came time to pay, Charlie stepped forward, only to be stopped by Emily, "We agreed it's my

treat. Don't fight me on this."

Charlie glanced at her determined gaze, feeling slightly uncomfortable. Yet, he didn't protest, simply

replying, “Alright, I won't fight you on this."

After Emily paid the bill, Charlie had already picked up the shopping bags. Together, they made their

way out.

Back at home, Emily went to prepare the ingredients in the kitchen, casually mentioning, "There's water

in the fridge, help yourself."

After all, he had visited numerous times before, he knew where everything was better than anyone

else.

Charlie slipped off his suit jacket, rolled up his dark blue shirt, and followed her into the kitchen. He

expertly picked up bell peppers and tomatoes, washing therm under the tap, “Four dishes should be

enough. We can't eat more than that."

Emily tugged at his arm, “Go and sit in the living room. I can handle it."

"I'd be so bored on my own, I'd rather stay here with you.” Charlie looked at her deeply.

Emily felt a ticklish sensation in her heart, like being bitten by an ant. She turned around to prepare the

beef, ignoring him.

The two busied themselves together, Emily making four dishes and a soup. She was the main chef,

with Charlie as her assistant, their collaboration as seamless as ever.

As Emily stirred the soup with a ladle, Charlie leaned in, laughing, "Chicken soup again? Such a

memorable flavor."

Emily rolled her eyes at him, “Are you planning to nurse a hangover?"

Charlie smirked, “That'll be your job soon enough."

Emily blushed, not following up on his remark.

Once the meal was prepared and laid out on the table, Emily opened a bottle of wine, poured a glass

for Charlie, and one for herself, "I'll join you for a drink, don't judge my low tolerance."

Charlie, seeing the setup, felt a sudden pang in his heart, lifting an eyebrow playfully, “Why do I feel like

I'm about to dine at the Last Supper?"

Emily snorted, "Would you believe me if I said I poisoned it?"

Charlie laughed lightly, "What, you can't stand to live without me, so you want us to die together? Are

you so infatuated with me that you'd choose a lover's suicide? Don't worry, we're not quite there yet."

Emily was left flustered by his words. Ever since she learned about Kya's background, he had become

a whole different person, effortlessly stirring her emotions.

Unable to out-talk him, she chose to stay silent, sitting down and taking a large gulp of wine.

Charlie quickly reached out to stop her, joking, "You can't drink before the toast. That's not how it

works."

Emily put down her glass, dabbing at the corner of her lips, "Then I'll say a few words first."

Charlie nodded, ‘I'm all ears."

Emily felt a bit dizzy from the wine, or perhaps it was due to the intense gaze of the man sitting across

from her.
