Chapter 1750

Chapter 1750

"So, I did a little digging into OrbitaTech Ventures, and sure enough, it's under the control of the James

family"

Magdalen chuckled with a knowing smile, "Makes sense, right?"

Estelle found this surprising yet expected, she nodded in realization, "No wonder!"

No wonder Shawn had found a job so quickly — it was all Charlie's doing. If it was Charlie's company, it

would certainly explain the manager's attitude.

“Let's not worry about it for now. Charlie must have his plans!" Magdalen said.

Estelle nodded, “Alright!"

While they were talking, Magdalen was receiving constant messages from Morrison.

Estelle said, "You should head back. I'll stay here with Emily for a while!"

"Okay!" Magdalen put away her phone, "I'll head back first then. Call me if you need anything. Also, tell

Emily that it might be a good thing that her family ties are severed. She shouldn't dwell on it too much!"

“Emily will understand on her own!" Estelle responded, handing her car keys to Magdalen, “Take my

car, yours is still in the set!"

"Okay!" Magdalen took the keys, waved goodbye to Estelle, and left.

Estelle tidied up the kitchen as Emily came out of her room, "Where is Magdalen?"

"Morrison needed her for something. She left already!" Estelle poured a glass of water for Emily,

‘Feeling any better?"

Emily took the water and walked towards the balcony, enjoying the cool breeze outside. She smilednovelbin

faintly, "Much better. I was watching Kya in bed and I suddenly felt calm."

Estelle stood beside her, her tone calm, "When people have to make choices, they instinctively pursue

benefits and avoid harm. That's human nature!"

"Yes, so I was abandoned, completely abandoned!" Emily held the water glass, her voice melancholic,

"When I was little, my mom treated me and my brother equally. I don't know why it changed when we

grew up!"

"People and things change. As long as we have a clear conscience, it wouldn't matter!"

“I get itt"

Emily nodded, her expression becoming increasingly sorrowful, "Estelle, do you know? A few days

ago, when I heard Charlie confess his feelings for me, I felt moved. I've been thinking recently, did I

make a mistake? Could I perhaps get any closer to him one more time? But just when I started having

these thoughts, life gave me a huge blow. I'll have to carry a debt of a million dollars, and take care of

my dad. How can I even dare to dream of love?"

Thinking of Charlie, Emily felt a pang in her chest. Estelle said as long as she had a clear conscience.

She didn't owe anyone anything, except for him!

Estelle turned to look at Emily, witnessing the sorrow in her eyes. At this moment, she could empathize

with Emily's despair.

She pressed her lips, speaking slowly, "Not necessarily! I've been in countless desperate situations

before, but as long as we dont give up, there's always a glimmer of hope. You shouldn't give up either.

Maybe things will take a turn for the better soon!"

“Will they?" Emily held the water glass tightly, laughing self-mockingly.

“For sure!" Estelle grabbed Emily's shoulder, her tone firm.

Emily looked at Estelle, the latter's steady and resilient gaze filling her with a sense of strength. She

smiled through her tears, nodding, “Don't worry. I won't be crushed. No matter how difficult the road

ahead, I will make it through"

"You will!” Estelle smiled back.

After talking with Emily late into the night, Estelle finally went upstairs.

Jonathan was sitting on the couch, reviewing some papers. Seeing her come in, he stood up, and

caressed her face with a gentle look in his eyes, "You need a warm bath."
