Chapter 1704

Chapter 1704

The weather began to turn chilly in auturnn and the maple and ginkgo trees lining the streets of J City

were a riot of color. It was arguably the most beautiful time of the year.

Charlie had some morning engagements and by the time he returned to the office, it was noon. As he

exited the elevator and made his way to the breakroom, he paused.

The bookshelf next to the breakroom parted to reveal the kitchen where a girl in a white blouse was

busily preparing something. The sweet aroma of pizza wafted out from the kitchen, the scent of cheese

rich in the air.

Charlie stood frozen for a moment, until the girl turned and jumped in surprise at seeing him. She

quickly composed herself and gave him an appeasing smile, "Mr. James, I hope you don't mind me

using the kitchen?"

Charlie looked at her, his gaze clearing and a gentle smile tugging at his lips, “Not at all, Maggie."

He made his way into the breakroom, and Maggie followed, asking in a respectful and soft voice, "Mr.

James, can I get you something to drink?"

“A cup of coffee,’ Charlie replied, leaning against the counter and pulling out his cellphone to check

messages.

While Maggie prepared his coffee, she stole glances at Charlie. Turning back to him, she offered with a

warm smile, "Mr. James, have you eaten yet? I made pizza, would you like to try some? It's a store-

bought base but I added my own toppings. It's pretty good.""

Charlie accepted his coffee, his voice light and pleasant, “I'm good, thank you. You can enjoy that."

"Oh, okay then."

Maggie's smile faltered, a hint of disappointment crossing her face as she watched Charlie walk into his

office, coffee in hand.

Paragon Pixel Design The afternoon had barely begun when Chad, a senior designer, found himself on

the receiving end of a stern dressing down. He stormed out of the assistant director's office, barely

resisting the urge to throw his designs in frustration!

An assistant rushed over, frowning in concern, "So, didn't the design pass?"

"This is the seventh draft. I have no idea what Mr. Beck wants. He can't even articulate his own vision,

how are we supposed to create it?" Chad complained.

The assistant thought for a moment before suggesting in a low voice, “Why not give Emily a shot? Isn't

she the top graduate and an award-winner? Let's see if she’s as good as they say!"

Chad, thoroughly tired of Mr. Beck's villa design project, nodded, “Let her try. I've got another project to

handle"novelbin

The assistant quickly went to find Emily with the design brief.

A few days later, Emily was working when Edgar, a friendly fellow designer, approached her with a

secretive grin, “I heard from the assistant director that your design for Mr. Beck's villa passed. Not bad,

Emily. You managed to solve a problem that stumped several others."

Emily looked surprised, “Did it pass?"

"Yes, and Beck was so pleased he's given us the construction contract as well. This is a big deal.”

Edgar said excitedly, "This morning, Mr. Cedric was grinning like a Cheshire cat during the meeting."

Just as they were talking, the assistant director called for Emily to come to the director's office.

Edgar gave Emily a meaningful look, "Hurry go, they must be going to praise you."

Emily gathered her things and went to the director's office.

Upon entering, she found the normally stern director with a rare smile on his face, "You did an excellent

job with Mr. Beck's villa design. Your unique design approach is commendable, truly reflective of your

education at a fenowned university"

Emily responded with a graceful smile, "Thank you for your kind words, Mr. Cedric. However, I must

credit the previous designers for their drafts which gave me inspiration. Mr. Beck's satisfaction is a

result of our collective efforts."
