Chapter 169

Chapter 169

Jonathan sat down on the sofa across from Estelle and asked, “Where are dad and my older brother?”

Janice replied, “They have some business to take care of, they’re upstairs in the study talking. They’ll

probably be down shortly!” “Alright.” Jonathan nodded indifferently. novelbin

Mrs. Lamont put down the cup, looked at Estelle, and smiled kindly, “I heard you’re still a student,

you’re so pretty and talented, are you from J City?”

Estelle replied, “I grew up in C City.”

“Oh!” Mrs. Lamont smiled warmly, “That’s considered studying away from home then. If there’s

anything you need in the future, feel free to come to our place or ask Jonathan for help. Don’t be shy.”

Janice chimed in, “I just wish he won’t scare her, with Jonathan’s constant cool expression, most

people wouldn’t dare to talk to him.” Jonathan glanced at Estelle and smiled faintly, “I didn’t scare her.

You can ask her how have I treated her?”

Estelle couldn’t help but feel a little nervous, worried that Jonathan’s words would cause

misunderstandings. She hurriedly said, “Yes, Mr. Lamont has been very kind to me.”

Fortunately, no one thought too much about it. Mrs. Ling joked, “If he knew how to treat girls well, he

wouldn’t still be single at this point.”

Jonathan scoffed, “How am I the target again?”

Janice suddenly remembered something and asked, “I heard that your marriage with the Macclain

family was called off?”

Jonathan replied indifferently, “Yes!”

Janice looked at Mrs. Lamont and laughed, “We really ought to find Jonathan a girlfriend soon.”

Jonathan took a sip of water, “There’s no rush.”

Mrs. Lamont asked, “We met Yvonne when we were in London, are you still in touch with her?”

Estelle’s eyes flickered, recalling Lucille’s previous words about Jonathan’s love interest being named

Yvonne.

Jonathan spoke indifferently, “No.”

Mrs. Lamont said, “It’s a pity about you and Yvonne. You’ve been held back by the Macclain family for

three years, and now that the engagement is off, you two could still get back in touch.”

Janice agreed, “Yeah, I talked with Yvonne when I saw her. She’s been single all these years, and

she’s filming a movie. After it’s done, she’ll be back in the country. It sounded like she wants to develop

her career here.”

“My relationship with her has nothing to do with the Macclain family.” Jonathan’s tone was cold, as if he

didn’t want to say more, “Don’t mention her again.”

Mrs. Lamont glared at him, shook her head, and called to Estelle, “Ella, have some fruit.”

Estelle snapped out of her thoughts and said quickly, “Thank you, please don’t worry about me.”

Janice opened the drawer of the coffee table, took out a velvet box, and placed it in front of Estelle with

a smile. “We’ve been abroad for the past few months, Henson’s excellent grades are all thanks to you.

We didn’t know what you’d like, so we bought a small piece of jewelry. Hope you like it.”

Estelle smiled warmly, “You’re too kind. I am the tutor, and it’s my duty to help Henson with his studies.

Plus, Mr. Lamont has already paid my salary, so I can’t accept your gift.”

Janice smiled lightly, “This is just a small token of our appreciation, it’s not worth much. Why don’t you

take a look and see if you like

it?”

“Let me do it!” Norah took the box, opened it, and saw a mermaid tail necklace inside. It was delicate

but not flashy, suitable for someone Estelle’s age.

“Mom, your taste is finally spot–on for once.” Norah praised and handed the necklace to Estelle, “It’s for

you. Just take it. You can’t get this in our country.”

Estelle still refused, “It’s too valuable!”

Jonathan looked over and spoke up softly, “It’s Janice’s good intentions. You can accept it.”
