Chapter 1626

Chapter 1626

The servant, who usually took care of Mrs. James came out from the mansion, carrying a pot of brewed

floral tea and some pastries. She settled herself on the wooden deck, poured tea for Mrs. James and

smiled softly. “What a cute little one. Where did she come from?”

“Her mother is a friend of Charlie’s,” Mrs. James replied with a chuckle. She instructed, “Kya can’t have

floral tea, Alma, Could you go fetch her a glass of juice instead?”

“Alright!” Alma nodded and went to get the juice. novelbin

Landon soon brought them the birdcage. The injured sparrow had recovered under his care. Its legs

had fully healed and its feathers had grown back. Now it was hopping around in the cage.

“Boogool”

Kya’s eyes widened in surprise as she saw the bird in the cage.

The sparrow, in turn, was staring back at Kya with its bright eyes.

A girl and a bird were looking at each other.

Kya’s innocent reaction brought a smile to Mrs. James’s face. Seeing how much Kya’s loved the bird,

she turned to Landon and said, “Let’s keep a few more birds, likes a canary or a budgie.”

Landon chuckled and nodded, “No problem.”

Mrs. James turned back to Kya and suggested, “Now that the bird have recovered, why don’t you give

it a name, Kya?”

Kya’s dark, bright eyes sparkled, and she responded softly, “Its name is Boogoo!

Mrs. James laughed, “Alright, Kya. We’ll call it Boogoo!”

While she was playing with Kya, her phone rang. She glanced at it, and then turned to tell Landon,

“Can you watch over Kya for a moment? I need to take

this call.”

“No worries, ma’am,” Landon nodded with a grin.

After giving Kya a quick instruction, Mrs. James walked away to answer the call

Landon handed some grain stalks to Kya to feed Boogoo.

Kya held the grains up to the birdcage, watching Boogoo peck at them with delight. Her eyes curved

into crescent moons as she giggled in joy.

“Landon!”

Alma came out with a glass of juice, her eyebrows furrowed in annoyance as she said, “Look at your

dirty feet, you’ve tracked mud all over the place! I’ll have to clean it later!”

Landon looked down at his muddy shoes, quickly apologizing, Tll clean it up!”

“And stop sitting here. You’ve gotten grass and leaves on the woolen blanket. It’s a hassle to clean

once it’s soiled.” Alma complained.

Kya looked at Alma, and then at Landon, her big eyes spinning with curiosity

Landon, feeling slightly awkward, stood up from his chair, “I didn’t notice the blanket. Mrs. James is on

a phone, could you look after Kya for a bit, Alma? I’ll go clean up.”

“Sure” Alma replied absentmindedly him without even lifting her head.

Landon gave Kya a reassuring smile and said, “I’ll be back soon, Kya. Call me if you need anything”

Kya nodded with pursed lips.

As Landon left, Alma sat down in her chair, pushed the juice towards Kya, and looked Kya up and

down, “Whose child are you?”

Kya remained silent with her big innocent eyes staring back at Alma.

Alma’s tone sharpened, “What’s your relationship with our young master? Are you the illegitimate child

of him?*

Kya shook her head

Alma tapped Kya on the forehead, saying, “You silly child, you don’t know anything!”

Kya almost stumbled from the push, but she didn’t cry. Instead, she glared back at Alma.

Alma let out a cold laugh and returned to browse her phone, ignoring Kya

Kya, holding the juice, toddled her way into the garden.

Landon was busy tending to a few bushes when Kya appeared from behind a tree, offering him a sweet

grin. She held out the glass of juice, saying. “Drink. Grandpa”

Landon’s eyes brightened, “Kya, what bring you here?”

“To give you some juice! Kya said with an innocent smile

Landon felt a warm feeling spread through his heart. Tim not thirsty, Kya, so you can drink it.”

Kya crouched down and picked up a chubby little caterpillar from a leaf, holding it up to Landon, “Look”
