Chapter 1624

Chapter 1624

Early the next morning, Emily arrived at the company. News about the James Group’s bidding details

being leaked had spread all over the internet and it seemed as though everyone had learned about it

overnight.

As Emily walked through the building, people were whispering and pointing fingers at her.

She didn’t let it bother her, and headed straight for the elevator and went to the thirty-ninth floor.

Charlie was absent, and Tracy arrived later.

She met Tracy in the pantry, where Tracy was making herself a cup of coffee. Looking at Emily, her

voice icy, “I’m surprised to see you at work today. Emily filled her mug, saying, “Why wouldn’t I come to

work? I’ve done nothing wrong”

“Do you understand how serious this situation is?” Tracy gave her a sidelong glance, “It not only

damaged our company’s reputation but caused the stocks price to drop significantly this morning. The

losses is beyond what you can imagine. Emily, if I were you, I wouldn’t dare show my face here after

causing the company such harm.”

Emily met her gaze and said firmly, 7 didn’t do it.”

“You can explain that to Mr. James. Regardless whether you did it or not, you’ve cost the company a

fortune and everyone can see that!” Tracy said with a smirk, I know Mr. James valued you a lot,

perhaps he might even have some feelings for you. But the more that’s the case, the more you should

consider the company’s best interests.”

Emily raised an eyebrow, “You want me to resign?”

Tracy nodded, “Yes. Now it’s only if you resign that those bidding companies will stop caring, and this

matter will slowly calm down.”

Emily’s gaze remained clear and resolute, “I won’t res

at least not until this matter is fully investigated.”

“I’m just trying to help, you should resign now. It might be your only chance. Wait any longer, and you

might not be able to leave.” Tracy said with an air of superiority, then she left the room with her coffee.

Emily took a deep breath, filled her mug with water, and got back to work.

Over the next two days, those bidding companies kept calling Gavin to inquire about the progress.

Despite being pointing by other during her breaks and meal times, Emily focused on her work.

On Wednesday afternoon, Ms. Simmons returned home with Kya from the supermarket just as a black

Rolls-Royce pulled up. Charlie stepped out of the car, walking towards Kya.

“Uncle Charlie!” Kya exclaimed with delight and ran towards him.

Charlie picked her up and asked with a smile, “Did you go to the supermarket with your nanny? Did you

get any nice treats?”

Kya extended her hand, revealing a piece of candy, and whispered, “Don’t tell mom, she won’t let me

have candy”

“Sure, I won’t tell her!” Charlie replied with a gentle smile.

Ms. Simmons hesitated for a moment before approaching. She said, “Mr. James, there’s something I’mnovelbin

not sure if I should say.”

“What is it?” Charlie turned to her and asked.

“A while back, a woman delivered some items to Emily, claiming it was sent by you and asked me not

to tell Emily. I believed her words and accepted those items without telling Emily. But recently, I realized

there might be something wrong with those items,” Ms. Simmons confessed guilty. “I wanted to explain

this to you, but Emily told me not to. Mr. James, you must trust Emily. She didn’t know I received those

items.”

Ms. Simmons kept blaming herself, I was so foolish. How could I believed in a stranger like that? And I

didn’t tell Emily about it. Even though Emily didn’t say anything or blame me, I know I’ve caused trouble

for her. I couldn’t eat or sleep during the past few days, I’ve let Emily down so much!”

Charlie said calmly, “You were deceived. Don’t blame yourself too much,”

“Mr. James, do you believe Emily?” Ms. Simmons furrowed her brows and asked.

“Of course,” Charlie replied without any hesitation. How could he believe she’d accept those items

when she didn’t want him anymore?

“That’s a relief” Ms. Simmons nodded.

“I’ll handle this matter. You just need to take care of Kya and don’t let anything distract you. Nothing is

more important than Kya.” Charlie reassured her

“Don’t worry, Mr. James I’ll take good care of Kya Ms. Simmons said.

“Take Kya out for a bit, and bring her back in the evening “Charlie said
