Chapter 1420

Chapter 1420

Jonathan stood frozen, fear coursing through his veins. His emotions, which he tried so hard to control,

were spiraling out of control. His blood felt as if it had turned to ice, paralyzing him.

Suddenly, he was transported back to two years ago, the day when he found out she had left him. He

completely fell apart, swallowed by a wave of darkness. Since then, even breathing became torture.

Had she left him again?

Had she left him for the second time?

Jonathan felt a chill run through his body. After what felt like an eternity, he picked up his phone and

dialed Estelle's number, only to find out she had turned off her phone.

He staggered back into the living room and sank into the couch, feeling as if he were suffocating.

How long would he have to wait for her this time?

Why, despite giving her his all, did he end up like this?

Pain spread through his heart like a thousand needles. He even started to feel resentment; his heart

was filled with injustice.

After a while, he picked up his phone again and dialed Millard's number. "Check Estelle's travel history;

where did she go?"

Millard was taken aback for a moment but responded quickly.

In the darkness, Jonathan waited; each passing second felt like an eternity.

Although it was just a few minutes, it felt like two years. In those few minutes, he revisited their firstnovelbin

meeting, their mutual understanding, and everything that happened afterward.

Asking him to give her up was like asking him to rip out his own heart. How could he live like this?

Suddenly, his phone lit up in the darkness. The urgent vibration of the phone echoed in the room, yet

Jonathan's eyes were distant. After a long moment, he picked up the phone, his fingers trembling as he

unlocked it.

"Where did she go?"

"Mr. Lamont, your wife didn't leave the country; she went to C City," Millard answered, then added,

"Looks like she had some urgent matter to attend to!"

Jonathan was taken aback and asked hesitantly, "C City?"

"Yes!"

He felt as if a ray of light had pierced through his darkness. Jonathan immediately stood up and said,

"Prepare the jet; I'm going to C City!"

"Yes, sir!" Millard responded promptly.

Just before getting on the plane, Jonathan received a text from Janice. "Jonathan, I told Estelle about

your blindness. I hope you won't be mad."

Jonathan stared at the message, his expression hardening. She knew?

Janice: "We all like Estelle. Jonathan, you must win her over. We're waiting to welcome her into our

family."

Jonathan's gaze was resolute. "I will. I'm going to find her now."

He tucked his phone away and looked out at the night sky, his racing heart slowly calming down.

It was already eleven o'clock at night. Estelle fed Mr. Jarvis some water and looked at his aged face

and white hair, feeling increasingly anxious.

She was only five years old when she came to live with the Jarvis family. Back then, she was almost a

recluse, wary and hostile towards everything.

Grandpa would chat with her every day. Even though she never responded, he continued to talk to her.

In order to make her happy, he would bring out all his precious items for her to play with. Every time

she spoke, he would light up like a child.

He loved her as if she were his own granddaughter. If there was any warmth in her heart before she

met Jonathan, it was certainly preserved by Grandpa.

She always thought that grandpa, like she was when she first came to the Jarvis family, would never

grow old. He would always be there for her and her brother, protecting them. No matter where they

went, he would always be their rock.

No more Chapter 1416 Jonathan whipped up a bunch of grub, and Charlie popped open the hooch he

brought.

Like always, everybody was grubbing and gabbing together, but the mood was kind of heavy because

Jonathan and Estelle seemed off.

Even Emily picked up on the weird vibes.

When Jonathan stepped out on the balcony to take a call, Emily furrowed her brow and asked, "Estelle,

what's up with you and Jonathan? You guys have a spat?"

Estelle took a swig of her drink, not saying anything.

Charlie poured Estelle another drink and said gently, "I've been around Jonathan for years. I know he

really loves you. You two have been through a lot together. Don't let small stuff mess with your

relationship."

"Only those who've been through it can really understand love," Estelle said, her lips pressed together.

Emily asked, "So what happened?"

Estelle said, "I'll tell you when I've calmed down a bit."

"Estelle, your love for Jonathan is the only love story I believe in. You two have to make it!" Emily

looked worried.

Charlie shot Emily a glance and joked, "Emily Sullivan, did you ever think about how I'd feel hearing

that?"

Emily laughed, saying, "Do you even know what love is?"

Charlie felt a bit miffed.

Jonathan came back shortly, and they all dropped the subject, just eating quietly, and only Charlie and

Emily cracked jokes from time to time.

After dinner, Estelle went upstairs, and Jonathan followed suit.

They walked upstairs together in silence. When they reached the top, Estelle headed straight for her

place, but Jonathan grabbed her arm.

"Have you made up your mind?" Jonathan looked at her.

Estelle looked down, her eyes cold and distant.

Jonathan tightened his lips. "What are you thinking about? If it's the birth control thing, I can explain."

"After a few days of thinking, you finally came up with an explanation?" Estelle looked at him coldly.

Jonathan's eyes flickered, as if something shattered and sank into the depths of his gaze.

He looked at Estelle, seemingly in disbelief.

Estelle avoided Jonathan's gaze, her face pale.

They stood in silence for a while.

The dim light in the hallway illuminated Jonathan's tense profile. He slowly let go of Estelle's arm, his

voice low and sorrowful: "You're right, we can no longer understand each other's thoughts or trust each

other."

Estelle's throat tightened, and she turned and walked towards her place.

The door closed, leaving Jonathan outside. He leaned against the wall, feeling completely drained and

desolate. Something inside him seemed to be slowly fading away, just like the night Estelle left two

years ago.

Estelle had a restless night. At noon the next day, she tried to catch some shut-eye on her makeshift

bed.

Blythe was sitting by the window, playing some sad love songs on her phone.

The more Estelle listened to the music, the harder it was for her to fall asleep.

Suddenly, her phone buzzed. Estelle glanced at it and saw that it was a call from Janice.

"Mrs. Lamont!" Estelle sat up to answer the call.

"Estelle, long time no see! I just got back to J City. I'd like to meet up; are you free?" Janice's voice was

gentle and cultured.

Estelle thought Janice was going to ask about Henson's studies and said with a smile, "I'm free."

"I heard you're working on a film set. Send me your location, and I'll come find you."

"Sure!" Estelle replied.
