Chapter 1197

Chapter 1197

Carmella had been bumming around at home for two days before Yulia’s assistant finally nagged her

back to the set.

She showed up in a different outfit, all masked and hatted up, ready to meet Yulia.

Just past eight, and Yulia was already there.

Ever since Estelle had given her a heads up, Yulia hadn’t been late again, and Mr. Tucker was over thenovelbin

moon. He even gave Estelle a special thanks.

At this point, Yulia saw Carmella’s get-up and snorted, “You think you’re a star or something? Even if

there are paparazzi here, they ain’t going to snap a pic of you.”

Carmella was burning inside from Yulia’s mockery but didn’t bite back; she just took off her mask and

got to work.

While Yulia was getting her makeup done, Carmella asked the assistant, “Has anyone been looking for

me lately?”

The assistant shook her head and said, “Nope.”

Carmella’s eyes flashed as she asked, “Is there a guy named Victor on the set?”

She had no clue how Estelle had found Victor or whether he was still on set.

The assistant replied, chuckling, “No idea; I’ve never heard of him. With so many people on set, how

am I supposed to remember everyone’s name?”

Carmella nodded, knowing she needed to shake Victor off ASAP and keep him under the radar of

Simone and Bennett.

But things didn’t go as planned. As she was heading to the set, Victor suddenly bolted over, calling out

loud, “Carmella!”

Carmella felt her face heat up as all the crew and cast turned to look at her.

Though she was just a private designer, nearly everyone on the set knew she was loaded. She had

always maintained an image of being self-reliant and building her career without family backing.

But Victor calling her in front of everyone made everyone look at her funny.

After all, how could a rich person possibly have a brother who’s a temp worker?

Carmella pulled a long face, dragged Victor aside, and gave him a stern warning, “I’m telling you, stop

calling me ‘sis”.”

But Victor wasn’t fazed in the slightest, believing wholeheartedly that Carmella was his real sister.

So he immediately ditched Estelle and waited patiently for Carmella’s appearance.

Carmella shot him a cold, disgusted look and said, “Even if we are blood related, we’ve never met, and

we have no feelings for each other. I’ve been a MacClain since birth. The MacClains are my real family.

So stay away from me from now on. Go find Estelle; she’s your real sister.”

Victor was thinking, Why on earth would he go find Estelle? First, they weren’t related, and second,

Estelle was broke; he didn’t want anything to do with her.

He was seething at Carmella’s hypocrisy but put on a pitiful face and said, “Carmella, how could you

say that? Blood is thicker than water; we’re born to the same mother; our parents are gone; we’re the

only family left. If you don’t look out for me, who will?”

He repeated the same line he used with Estelle to try to convince Carmella.

Carmella felt a wave of disgust looking at Victor, as if she were looking at a pile of filth. “Are you and

Estelle in cahoots against me?”

“What does she have to do with this?” Victor asked, puzzled.

Carmella took a deep breath, trying to pawn Victor off to Estelle: “You two are the ones who grew up

together. She’s had all the benefits of the Brown family, not me. I’m a MacClain!”
