Chapter 959

He found a new spot to settle in, his expression icy.

"Ian, you should recognize the gentleman sitting next to you. He's the general manager of EcoTraverse

Group."

Ian leaned back in his chair; the outline of his muscular frame faintly visible beneath his suit.

"I know,"

He responded tersely and then turned his attention to the general manager and said,

"We just signed a wager agreement not long ago."

Dennis chuckled coldly.

"I'm glad that you remember. The wager agreement between you and the general manager is about to

expire. According to our agreement, if you fail to purchase 5% of EcoTraverse Group's shares, you'll

have to sell your 20% shares in Raymond Corporation."

"I do know that,"

Ian's demeanor remained cool, which was somewhat irritating to those who wanted to see Ian’s

downfall.

Despite Dennis' grand display of power, Ian seemed disinterested, almost as though he was asking to

experience all the embarrassment and pain in the world.

Just as Dennis was about to say something, Ryan, sitting next to Maureen, couldn't help but speak up

at that point,

"Isn't cousin's wager agreement due in a few days?"

"Ryan, shut up!"

Maureen immediately reprimanded him.

Ryan had recently taken a vacation abroad with his girlfriend, only to discover her fickle heart. His

affection for her had dwindled, leading him to break up with her without any hesitation. His ex-girlfriend,

however, made a scene, giving him a headache.

He had just returned from his trip the previous night and learned about the recent string of events,

including Maja.novelbin

From the previous night till now, Ryan's mind was in turmoil. He also learned that his grandfather was

missing and that his cousin Ian might lose his position as CEO of Raymond Corporation.

All signs pointed to an incoming storm, which he could sense.

He had no choice but to join his mother to see what was happening, only to find that everyone seemed

to be pressuring his cousin to leave his position.

Thinking about his relationship with his cousin, Ryan felt uncomfortable, hence his unintentional

interruption.

But Maureen firmly sided with Dennis.

Ryan looked uncomfortable after being reprimanded, worried about Ian.

Would those present let him off if Ian could no longer remain as CEO of Raymond Corporation?

In affluent families, kinship was often overshadowed by self-interest. He had thought that his mother

and cousin had a good relationship since she raised him. But at that point, his mother chose her

interests over her family.

Ryan found it ironic. He wanted to leave but was also curious about what would happen next.

Maureen looked at him sternly as she advised him, "If you continue to make a fuss, you can leave. You

only know how to flirt with women all day. After this, it would be best for you to gain some experience in

the company."

The deal between Maureen and Dennis involved Ryan, they planned to have him and Pearson hold the

same position, effectively giving the child the rights of the Raymond family.

Ryan remained silent, sitting quietly to the side as he could do nothing but observe.

Dennis continued as he wanted to persuade Ian to step down from his post,

"Ian, you just need to admit to this wager. Now that your grandfather has disappeared, you are our

prime suspect. We have applied to the relevant departments to investigate this matter, especially you.

You also understand your grandfather's status in society, if his disappearance is related to you, no one

can protect you. Before that, we hope you can first clear the shares in your hands, after all, this is the

property of the Raymond family."

Ian exuded an air of indifference, his eyes cold, he lightly pursed his lips, and coldly said, "Why should I

do that?"

He even chuckled lightly when he said that.

That prompted others to start attacking him, the first being Maureen.

"Ian, you are no longer suitable to be the CEO of Raymond Corporation. Your mind is already

confused. Whatever that woman asks you to do, you do. Last night, you almost drove into Dennis. If he

didn’t dodge in time, he might be in the hospital now. So, I suspect, was your grandfather kidnapped by

you?"

"Mom, my cousin wouldn't do something like this!"

Ryan couldn't help but retort but received a hard slap in return for speaking up in support of Ian.

Maureen's tone was icy as she firmly told him, "If you still can't grasp the situation, leave first, and

come back when the meeting is over."

Ryan touched his face in disbelief, a clear handprint left on his cheek. Although Maureen had hit him

before, she had never been so harsh to him.

Could people really become that ruthless when they were faced with self-interest?

His throat seemed to be choked up with sadness, unable to utter a single word, he simply bowed his

head, tightly closing his lips.
