Chapter 912

Chapter 912

Two days later, lan finally woke up. What he saw was a white ceiling and the sound of a woman crying.

He furrowed his brows and tried to touch his head, but heard Holden’s voice. “lan, did you really

knock that woman up? When did that happen? You’re such a loose cannon, stirring up troublenovelbin

everywhere. Wait till you’re up, I’ll give you a piece of my mind!”

Upon hearing this, lan’s eyelashes trembled slightly, and he felt a splitting headache. He didn’t move,

wisely choosing to continue sleeping.

Holden sat in front of the hospital bed, leaning on his cane, his face expressionless. In front of Holden,

Darlene stopped crying, sitting there stiff as a board.

Holden’s gaze roved over her, then he asked, “When did this happen? How did you meet him?”

Darlene knew this was Holden, a man she couldn’t afford to offend, a man she dared not even think

about. But this was her one and only chance in life. If she seized it, she could live a good life!

She recounted the reason she met with lan at Greenfield Gardens, but Holden, being a stickler, wanted

to get to the bottom of it. So he called Jeff to check the surveillance records at Greenfield Gardens.

Meanwhile, he asked the doctor next to him, “Can we do a paternity test for the child in her belly?”

The doctor nodded.

Holden gripped his cane tightly, his tone indifferent. “Let’s do one then. If the child is indeed a

descendant of the Raymonds, a portion of the

estate should be left to him. But if not.”

He didn’t finish his sentence, but everyone understood. If not, it meant that Darlene had deliberately

deceived them, and she would have to pay the price!

Darlene, already a jittery person, turned pale at these words. She looked at Tyler almost pleadingly. But

Tyler didn’t look at her, he just leaned against the wall with his eyes closed.

She immediately understood that he wouldn’t lift a finger to help. It was all down to her luck! No, she

couldn’t do a paternity test!

She clutched her stomach, her face turning ghostly pale. Darlene had always wanted to be an actress.

Although her character wasn’t good, her acting skills were quite decent. So she put on a very

convincing act. “My stomach hurts,” she said, her face pale, clutching her stomach, her forehead

covered in cold sweat, almost fainting.

The doctor quickly supported her and suggested, “How about we do this test another day?”

Holden squinted his eyes, his gaze icy. “Why?”

The doctor hurriedly explained, “If the child has not yet been born, paternity testing can be risky. The

pregnant woman’s health must be ensured, and various checks need to be done. Moreover, this is

obtained by amniotic fluid puncture to get related substances of the fetus, which may lead to unstable

fetal development, so very few people accept this kind of paternity testing.”

Holden didn’t say a word, and he just stared at Darlene’s stomach. Darlene passed out completely, but

she was relieved. If there was no paternity test, doctors usually judged the time of the child’s formation

by observing the fetus’s development in the uterus.

The day she left Greenfield Gardens, she had sex with a male waiter right away. That’s when the fetus

was formed. As long as there was no paternity test, lan couldn’t shirk his responsibility!

Darlene felt a bit smug inside. Feeling someone help her up, she was taken to another ward.

Holden no longer insisted on the paternity test. He never interfered much with lan’s private life before,

but he was aware of lan’s infidelity in his marriage and had caught him in the act. Although lan’s affair

was with Maja at the time, if he was capable of having an affair once, he could have one again.

Holden was livid. If he wasn’t worried that hitting him would cause injury, he would have given lan a

good beating. The more he looked at lan, the angrier he got. So he got up and went straight back to the

old house.

Seven o’clock in the evening.

lan woke up again, this time slowly getting up, Tyler, who was by his side, noticed his movement and

immediately called for Phelps.

Phelps checked lan thoroughly, especially his head. “Nothing to worry about, he just needs to rest well

now.”

Hearing this, Tyler breathed a sigh of relief.

But lan’s eyes didn’t land on them. He looked around the ward as if searching for someone. After a

while, he asked, “Where’s Maja?”

Only when he spoke did he realize how hoarse his voice was.
