Chapter 911

Chapter 911

The cane flew about three meters out.

Maja’s fingers slightly curled as she looked up at him. Fitch pulled out a cigarette, unreservedly

meeting her gaze. Maja didn’t feel wronged, instead, she slowly stood up. “Mr. Haskins, what’s all this

about?”

Was it because of lan, or did her previous actions infuriate Mia?

Fitch looked her up and down. Maja seemed unharmed, except perhaps for a foot injury, and she

looked in good spirits. Ian’s case was different. He was in a life–and–death situation, having been in

and out of the emergency room several times. “lan got seriously hurt for you, and you just stand

outside his room without going in to see him.”

Maja got it. It was all about lan. “Someone’s looking after him.”

Darlene was crying her heart out, and she was carrying lan’s child.

Fitch found this amusing but his face darkened in a flash, pushing her against the wall. “Maja, if it

wasn’t for lan’s feelings for you, I could kill you right here.”

Maja’s neck was being strangled, making it hard for her to breathe. She glared at Fitch.

Fitch and lan looked nothing alike. Ian was elegant while Fitch was grim and ruthless. Little was

known about him in Greenfield, apart from his close ties with lan and a few others. He spent most of his

time dealing with cold weapons. He was like a weapon himself, devoid of any warmth.

Maja was choking, but her eyes remained defiant and calm. Fitch released her, bending over to light a

cigarette, not giving a damn that he was in a hospital. A passing nurse wanted to reprimand him but

seeing the ruthlessness on him, she chickened out and hurried away.

“So, you don’t like him, do you, Maja?”

“He doesn’t like me that much.” Maja said this while rubbing her neck to alleviate the pain.

Fitch suddenly laughed, his face turning terrifying as he grabbed her chin. “He pulled you out of thenovelbin

mudslide and walked a whole kilometer, leaving a trail of blood. Your leg was saved by his emergency

measures. Otherwise, it would’ve been a goner. Maja, I should show you a picture. I’ve never seen lan

like that before.”

lan was covered in mud, his clothes torn into strips, his chest wound bleeding, and his head was a

mess of mud. He dragged her unconscious body and crawled a whole kilometer before he collapsed

and was found by rescuers. If this wasn’t love, then what was it? How could this woman have the

audacity to say such things?

Fitch and lan’s personalities were similar in some ways. But Fitch didn’t really care about women, using

them as tools to vent his anger, while lan was just a tough talker with a soft heart.

lan cared deeply inside, but what he said probably wouldn’t even amount to a fraction of that. Because

he grew up in a neglected environment, he knew that telling the truth wouldn’t do any good.

Fitch let go of her and lit another cigarette, sounding detached. “If you don’t like him, then just tell him

straight up. If you don’t like him, just say so. Don’t say he doesn’t like you.”

lan was deeply in love with Maja. It was a profound kind of love.

Maja was released, a red mark already forming on her chin from his grip. She suddenly remembered

what the doctor had said earlier. Someone had treated her leg in time, and she should thank lan. Now

hearing Fitch’s words, it seemed that lan had regained consciousness after they were caught in the

flood. She suddenly felt a crushing pain in her heart. It was so severe that she almost bent over. She

wanted to cough, but when she opened her mouth, no sound came out.

Fitch didn’t look at her, heading straight for the smoking area in the distance. He walked over to where

the cane was, thought for a moment, and

then kicked it back with one foot.

Maja didn’t pick up the cane, instead, she leaned against the cold wall, trying to cool down her

overheated emotions. After what felt like forever, her heart finally eased a bit. She bent down to pick up

the cane from the floor and then headed back to the ward.

When she was lying in the hospital bed, she suddenly felt a sharp and indescribable pain in her heart.

She curled up, wrapping herself tightly in the blanket. Fitch didn’t make it very clear, but she knew just

how severe lan’s injuries were, and how he had managed to get her out of there. She didn’t dare to

imagine.

In fact, before she married lan, she had seen him from a distance. At that time, she was following

Herbert, standing in the shadows. He was like a man adored by all, looking indifferently at the glass in

his hand, appearing aloof and not willing to converse with others.

Back then, her master had mocked him. “So young and already so affected, totally pretentious. Don’t

ever learn from him.”

She just watched him from a distance, then remembered her master’s words more deeply. But for

someone who liked painting, he was indeed very good–looking, like a god. So she found it hard toimagine how miserable such a noble person could be.

Unbelievable and didn’t dare to think about it.
