Chapter 792

Chapter 792

Zoey was still lounging on the couch, a faint smirk playing on her lips. “Murray, you’ve got a better

education than me. I always thought I wasn’t good enough for you, but now I think you’re not good

enough for me, so I want to call off our engagement.”

That “you’re not good enough for me” obviously shocked Murray.

He was a graduate of Solstice College, and Zoey was just a regular school graduate, and she had theaudacity to say he wasn’t good enough for her?

His income was nothing to sniff at, either.

Instead of reflecting on his own wrongdoings, Murray scoffed, “Alright, it seems like you’ve found a

better option now. That’s why you’re changing your tune, Zoey. I didn’t see this one coming from you.”

Classic move by men, pinning their own mistakes on others.

At this moment, Zoey not only thought this man was not good enough for her, but she also felt she was

blind in the past to have chosen to be with him, wasting seven long years of her youth!

“Murray, it’s you who chose someone else, but you’re accusing me of finding a better option. Is this

what your college taught you? I feel sorry for your professors. You’ve graduated for so many years,

and you’re still harping on about your college. Is Solstice College the crowning glory of your life? My

school might be less prestigious, than yours, but make no less money than you. You always use the

school to belittle me. The college is your pride, not mine.”

Zoey felt a sense of satisfaction, but also pain.

Turned out she had this speech all planned out; it turned out she had the answer all along.

But because of her love for him, she endured.

“Murray, your thing with Evelyn is already public knowledge and our colleagues have seen it with some

even taking photos. I was behind your car last night, but you never noticed. You were too eager to see

that woman. I waited outside all night, but you never came out. With all this evidence, can you still deny

it? You disgust

me.”

Zoey stared him down and asked, “Now, do you have anything else to say?”

Truth be told, Zoey didn’t tail him last night, but she knew once exposed, Murray would be caught off

guard.

Maja was right; men like these dreaded women who stood on their own.

She used to love him, so she could hide all her pride, but now that she’s decided to let go, Murray was

just a nobody!

Zoey chuckled and took a deep breath.

“That’s it; we’re done.”

Upon hearing this, Murray’s voice rose.

“Well, in that case, there’s something I need to tell you: The new house we bought cannot be handed

over; it might be left unfinished, and the money we’ve invested might go down the drain. But the house

is under your name; we’re not married yet, so this has nothing to do with me. Please pay me back the

money I invested.” When buying this marital home, each person put in three million dollars.

Now that the house might be left unfinished, Murray didn’t want to incur this loss of three million dollars,so he asked Zoey to pay him back.

Zoey froze, staring at him in disbelief, as if he were a stranger. novelbin

After a moment, she asked in a low voice, “You knew this house wouldn’t be completed all along, didn’t

you?”

Murray replied unabashedly, “How would I know? I thought we could weather this storm together since

the house couldn’t be completed, but Zoey, you’re never good enough for me; it’s good that we’re

breaking up now. You must transfer three million dollars to my account within a week.”

Zoey didn’t have that much money in her bank account. She only had a few thousand dollars.

When she made the down payment, that was all her savings.

Murray seemed certain she couldn’t pay him, so his tone softened.

“Just act like you don’t know anything so we can still be like before.”

No sooner had the words left his mouth than his cheek was slapped hard.

Touching his face, he saw Zoey’s resolute look.

“Murray, I’ll find a way to give you the money.”

With that, she pushed the door open and left.

Murray cursed angrily, “Who the hell would give you three million dollars? Apart from me, who would

want you, Zoey? Don’t overestimate yourself, you’re just average in looks and education. You’re just

hardworking. I want to see how you raise three million dollars in a week! You’ll definitely come back to

me!”

When Zoey ran outside, she felt drained.

Then she saw a familiar car parked outside; it was Maja’s car.

Turned out Maja was here all along but she just didn’t want to interrupt them.

When it came to matters of the heart, outsiders can’t interfere.

Maja got out of the car and nodded at her.

In that moment, Zoey felt like she was bathed in a flood of light.

“Ms. Pennyfeather.”
