Chapter 791

Chapter 791

After hanging up the phone, Zoey stared blankly at the door in front of her.

She reached out to touch it gently, only for it to be swung open from the inside, revealing Murray.

“Zoey, why are you home so late?”

His voice was as soft as ever.

Zoey was at a loss with men. How could they act so irresponsibly and then still manage to keep up

such a gentle facade?

She opened her mouth but didn’t know what to say.

However, Murray just pulled her inside and sat her down on the couch, saying, “Guess what I got you

this time?”

Zoey was in no mood for guessing games. Then she saw him pull out a beautiful bracelet from a well–

known brand, worth around $3,000.

In the past, Zoey would never splash out on something like that for herself, always scrimping and

saving because of the mortgage.

Murray slipped the bracelet onto her wrist, his voice full of coaxing.

“I’m sorry for losing my temper this morning, but you have to understand that the pressure from work is

really getting to me. Some of the clients are just a real pain in the ass, and it gets under my skin. I

might have been a bit short with you. I’m sorry, baby.”

Zoey looked down at the bracelet in her hand, but it brought her–no joy.

Just then, Murray’s mother walked out of the room, spotting the bracelet on Zoey’s wrist and giving a

cold snort…

“It’s really expensive, over $3,000. You really don’t mind spending that on her.”

“Mom, I got you a gift too; don’t worry about it.”

“Well, that’s more like it.”

Murray then pulled out another gift, this time for his mother.

A diamond studded bracelet worth over $10,000. Zoey had seen this design before.

Murray tried to console her: “Actually, mom’s bracelet is really‘ cheap, only about $1,000, Zoey. Your

bracelet is worth more.”

The implication was he still cared about her more.

When they first came in, Zoey was somewhat reluctant.

She had spent the best years of her life on this man.

Back in her younger days, she used to look at him with stars in her eyes, believing that as long as they

worked hard together, they could have a future. But then he changed.

“Murray.”

She called out softly, her lips trembling slightly, a sour feeling at the tip of her nose.

It took a while for her to find her voice. “When we both pitched in to buy that house, I felt so happy. We

were both working hard towards our future. I was full of energy every day, only wanting to pay off themortgage as soon as possible. We only have half a year left before we get the house. I’ve been saving

up for the renovations, even reading lots of articles online.”

Murray looked down, clutching her hand tightly..

“Zoey, what are you trying to say? Is your boss badmouthing me again?”

Zoey pulled her hand away and shook her head slowly.

“So what’s wrong? You’re not even happy when I buy you gifts? You’re sucking the fun out of

everything, Zoey. You weren’t like this before!” novelbin

Once again, he shifted all the blame onto Zoey, making her question if she was really in the wrong.

But then she remembered Maja’s words and snapped back to reality.

“Murray, let’s break up. We don’t need to get married.”

At that moment, a pang of pain flashed through Murray’s heart.

He never imagined that Zoey would be the one to suggest breaking up.

“Why? You must have heard some rumor! Zoey, I need to talk to your boss; I need to clear this up!”

“There’s no need. I already know about you and Evelyn. You didn’t come home last night because you

spent it at the villa.”

Murray was shocked. He knew that Zoey would find out about this, but he didn’t expect it to be so

soon.

He immediately felt guilty, but his voice only got louder.

“Who told you?!”

Zoey looked at Murray, still insisting on his own justifications, and couldn’t help but smirk.

Before coming home, she thought that Murray had suddenly changed.

Now she realized, he’s always been like this but he just hid it well before.

Maja was right. Men were masters of disguise.

They won’t show their true colors until they were sure they had women under their control.
