Chapter 468

Chapter 468

Samuel flashed a smile at Maja, his tone light.

“Just pullin‘ your leg; I’m more than happy to help.”

Maja had a piece of steak shoved into her mouth, and then she sat down.

She started to chew slowly.

Samuel couldn’t help but admire her, keeping her cool under the pressure from lan.

Even Carlene, standing next to lan, felt the heat. She called out nervously, “lan?”

lan’s fingers stiffened for a moment, then relaxed.

So, this was the kind of woman she was.

Tyler was right; she could date him and others too.

He felt a sense of relief mixed with reluctance.

She didn’t like him, or else she wouldn’t have wanted to kiss Samuel.

He remembered the game of truth or dare they played before. From the start, it seemed she wanted to

kiss Samuel too.

He said nothing and just gave her a cool look, then walked away.

Carlene didn’t follow him immediately but shot Maja a dirty look and said, “You really have no self–

respect, flirting with any man.” Then she hurried after lan.

Looking at the food in front of her, Maja suddenly lost her appetite.

And Samuel, sitting across from her, was lightly swirling his glass of wine, his brows furrowed.

“Penny, you saw him coming, didn’t you?”

Maja didn’t respond.

Samuel pointed to a spoon nearby. The spoon reflected the people in the distance. She must have

seen.

So she really wanted to kiss him.

Was she trying to see lan’s reaction?

“If I hadn’t stopped you just now, would you have actually kissed me?”

“Maybe?”

Samuel fell silent. He regretted stopping her. He should have kissed her in front of lan.

But he clearly missed the perfect opportunity.

He downed the rest of his wine in one gulp.

Maja gave him a guilty glance and said, “I’m sorry.”

Samuel gave a bitter smile.

He really felt bitter.

When did he become someone’s tool to test a man?

“I’ll help you, but you owe me two paintings when this is over. Fair deal, right?”

“Not at all, Mr. Brown; thank you.”

“Don’t jump the gun; when I say paint, you paint, and I choose the location.”

“No problem.”

After dinner, Maja and Samuel parted ways.

On the other side, Carlene followed lan into the car.

“I didn’t expect Penny to be that kind of woman, having dinner alone with Samuel and even wanting to

kiss him. She sure knows how to play; I didn’t see that coming.”

“Her husband is really pitiful.”

lan’s hands gripped the steering wheel, a cold look flashing in his eyes.

“Carlene, I have to work late. You go home yourself.”

Carlene immediately felt awkward. She had insisted on having dinner with him, and now she wanted

him to take her home.

At least she could take a few photos and share them on social media to save some face.

But thinking about the many photos she had already taken, she could share some subtle words even if

she didn’t have the courage to photograph lan himself.

“Alright, lan, I won’t disturb your work anymore.”

lan sat alone in the car, recalling the moment Maja stood up to approach Samuel. He was very cold.

He lit a cigarette, his lips tightly shut.

The blister on his finger from the burn has not healed yet, and he thought of her bending over to apply

ointment carefully.

Then she went to approach Samuel.

It was incomprehensible.

He untied his tie in irritation, licked his dry lips, and his cold demeanor was completely gone.

He was unsettled.

Then he saw Maja coming out alone, about to get into a car.

He sneered and sent her a message.

“Come here.”

1

To let her know his location, he honked the car horn twice.

The place he parked was dimly lit, but the flashing car lights were very noticeable.

Maja saw it, and she hesitated for a minute before slowly walking over.

She saw him standing by the car, so majestic; his straight nose made people keep their distance, and

even his slightly upturned, thin lips appeared cold.

But his collar button was undone, revealing his collarbone, and his cold demeanor also had a touch of

casualness.

“Mr. Raymond.”

She obediently called out.

At this moment, lan realized that she wasn’t as obedient as she appeared. The thorns on her were

soft.

Normally, if he didn’t provoke her, those thorns would hide,

But if she was uncomfortable, those thorns would become sharp and stand up.

Like now, when she looked at him, her demeanor held a hint of coldness.

Like the past few nights, they left no trace in her heart. novelbin

Maybe even Samuel was more important to her than her own husband in her heart.
