Chapter 1606

They couldn't get Dylan out just yet. If he vanished from the glass tank now, the base would realizenovelbin

there was people coming in from outside, and a thorough sweep would follow. That would spell disaster

for Ian and the others still inside; they'd all be exposed and never stand a chance to escape.

Ian's immediate task was to return to the vent, retrieve the dozen or so canisters of compressed gas

he'd tossed out, and put them back in place. Through that way he could clear himself of any suspicion.

"Walter, head back to your post."

Walter's mouth twitched, "And what about him?" He was pointing at Dylan.

Ian massaged his temples, "He's still breathing, not dead yet. If we pull him out now, we're as good as

dead."

They were all clever, and wouldn’t be unable to see clearly the gravity of the situation. Walter quickly

made his exit, and Ian returned to the core research lab.

The lab was untouched, but Sarah, who should've been conducting experiments there, was nowhere to

be found.

Ian didn't dwell on her absence. He hurried back to his room, crawled through the air ducts, retrieved

all the canisters, and managed to sneak them back into the lab without anyone noticing.

Sarah, on the other hand, had already left her lab in the middle of the commotion outside, standing

amidst the chaos.

She caught sight of Philip making his way through the turmoil. He grabbed a woman in the fray.

Sarah's pupils contracted sharply as she recognized the woman's face. Pushing past the frantic

researchers blocking her path, she strode toward Philip's location.

She and Philip had barely met formally before, hardly knowing each other. Yet she harbored a deep-

seated aversion to him from the moment she saw his face for the first time.

The woman Philip was holding was 00.

Ian had smuggled her into the base earlier, and now she was here with her wrist in his grip. Her

protective suit had been torn to shreds by the crazed researchers, and her face bore fresh scratches.

Philip's expression darkened, followed by a chuckle.

"Maja?" Before he could finish his thought, he denied it, "No, it can't be Maja, but the likeness is

uncanny."

He pulled her close, imprisoning her in his embrace.

"Not just the face, but even the mannerisms, so similar. What a surprise. Is Ian here too?"

Philip was sharp; he didn't believe in such coincidences. This resemblance had to be intentional. But

who would craft a double of Maja?

00 tried to break free, her expression cold.

"Who are you?"

She knew of Philip by file, but had never met the man in person. Philip raised an eyebrow, and found it

more intriguing.

Just as he was about to speak, a bullet whizzed past his ear toward 00. The shot hit her shoulder. She

looked toward the source and saw Phil with a gun in hand.

Phil's clothes were disheveled, clearly having rushed to the scene. He made to pull the trigger again

but saw Philip shielding 00, "What are you doing? Who ordered you to fire?"

"Philip, I saw her."

Phil's loyalty was to Philip above all. If this woman was a threat to Philip, he would eliminate the threat.

Philip, with a gentle smirk in his eyes, grasped her wrist.

"She won't kill me. Seen Summer around? Phil, take her to Summer. Tell him."

Phil approached cautiously, still wary.

"Tell him what?"

"Just say she's the spitting image of Cynthia's daughter."

A sly smile curled on Philip's lips as he leisurely took the dagger from 00's hand, revealing he'd known

about her hidden weapon all along.
