Chapter 1430

After hanging up the phone, Dylan immediately relayed Judith's words to Beck.

Beck was livid, itching to grab a gun, hunt down Judith, and unload a magazine into her.

But Dylan raised his hand to his forehead, massaging it wearily.

"I'm not sure if Ian knows anything about this so-called secret organization. Beck, go ask him," Dylan

urged.

At the moment, Dylan didn't dare face Maja, nor did he dare confront Ian.

He just wanted to find somewhere to hide away, but his father's coma was his burden to bear as the

eldest son.

Yet his mind was in turmoil. The woman in the photograph he'd seen at his father's place haunted him.

She didn't seem to be the same Arlene he knew.

If she wasn't Arlene, then she could only be Cynthia.

And considering the name 'Cynthia' that Augus would sometimes call out during his bouts of

unconsciousness, could it be that the woman Augus truly loved was Cynthia, not Arlene?

The thought left a bitter taste in Dylan's mouth. As Arlene's child, he didn't see this revelation as good

news, but rather as a sour betrayal.

Arlene might not have been a model mother. She'd always been spineless in Augus's presence and

had a weak presence at home, but she had always managed the Sanders family affairs with meticulous

care.

With a sigh, Dylan continued giving instructions to Beck.

"Find out if there's an antidote, and if this poisoning business is even true."

Beck didn't dare delay and immediately called Ian.

Ian was in the kitchen preparing breakfast. He had recently hired a private chef to craft a tailored

prenatal menu for Maja.

He was still memorizing the list of forbidden foods during pregnancy and now stood in the kitchen,

observing how the chef worked his magic.

The ring of his phone was a distraction he was reluctant to entertain.

He didn't want anything to disrupt the tranquility of his world with Maja.

But he knew that he and Maja were about to embark on a journey and that he needed to address the

Sanders family matters swiftly.

He pressed the answer button, and Beck's voice came through.

"Ian, Judith just confessed she poisoned my dad, but the hospital equipment can't detect it. She

mentioned it's from some secret organization. Do you know anything about it?"novelbin

As Ian took the call, Maja received a text.

It was from K.

[Congratulations on finding your family. But it looks like your father is likely to be a vegetable for life.]

The tone was disgustingly smug.

Maja, her face cold, sent a reply.

[It seems like you know everything, huh?]

K didn't text back but sent a photo instead. It showed an office desk with a document on it, implying

there was nothing he didn't know about, including her identity.

Annoyed by this self-assured yet cautious individual, Maja read his next message with a frown.

[How did you break free from my hypnosis? Logically, Ian wouldn't want you to lose half your life over it.

I'm a bit curious.]

That was what he was most curious about—what allowed Maja to emerge unscathed and free from the

control of hypnosis.

Maja, realizing K didn't understand the world of emotions, decided not to answer his question but asked

her own.

[The drug for Mr. Sanders, was it you who provided it?]

[Yes, Maja. I look forward to your visit.]

Maja's expression darkened. If the drug had come from K, then the situation was indeed complicated.

She immediately sought out Ian, who was just telling her about the situation.

Her heart sank even further. "The drug came from K, and it's likely from the research facility. Ian, I've

been thinking—what exactly is the relationship between the research facility and BK? Many of the

drugs K provided are linked to that facility, and we heard before that these drugs aren't something just

anyone at the facility can access, right?"

Taking a deep breath, she added, "I need to save Mr. Sanders."

It was time to head to that address, to find Lillian. Perhaps then they could learn more about BK.

But Ian hesitated, glancing down at her pregnant belly.

Maja knew what he was thinking and stepped closer, encircling his neck with her arms.

"Whatever it is, we'll face it together, okay?"

He had no choice but to hold her waist, agreeing softly, "Yeah."

Having decided their course, Maja and Ian made another trip to the Sanders residence.

Augus was still lying in bed, showing no signs of waking. The doctor had checked again and, apart

from severe stress, could offer no other diagnosis.

Beck sat nearby, his face a stormy mask.

"Judith claims she can get an antidote. Do you believe her?"

Maja responded quickly, "K won't hand over the antidote that easily. Judith is just one of his pawns, just

like the late Jolin. He never cares about the fate of his pawns. She's likely saying that to save her own

skin."

Her gaze shifted to the man lying on the bed, her tone detached.

"I'm going to find Lillian. It will involve the BK organization and eventually the research facility. I'll find a

cure for him."

She still wasn't accustomed to calling Augus 'Dad'.

At that moment, the white-haired man on the bed opened his eyes, which had once been clear but

were now clouded.

He watched Maja silently, trying to lift his hand. In the end, he only managed to twitch his fingertips

before his strength failed him.

Maja had seen Augus command a room with his speeches, dressed sharply, eyes fierce and

penetrating. She had been secretly impressed at the time.

She'd even thought that time was exceptionally kind to such elites, noting how little Augus seemed to

age.

But now, seeing him frail and bedridden, she felt a profound sadness, realizing that time, after all,

spared no one.

Gently, she took his hand in hers.
