Chapter 1109

After being hauled from the bar, Maja found herself dumped in a room.

She could hear Patric on the phone, and the plane was due to take off in two hours. Patric was likely

going to take her to the airport soon.

To avoid any complications on the road, the effects of the drugs she had been given were still lingering,

leaving her feeling weak and limp.

She was still dressed in the same outfit from the bar, a disguise to prevent her from being recognized

on the street.novelbin

"You see this?" Patric patted the fake skin on her belly, his face twisted in a sly grin, "It's a lot more

convincing than stuffing a pillow under your shirt."

"Let's go, darling."

The term of endearment made Maja's skin crawl. She still had no idea what Patric's intentions were,

and the fear of the unknown was the most terrifying.

She was helped into the car and leaned against the window. A driver was at the wheel while Patric kept

a protective arm around her to prevent her from falling.

As they passed through several checkpoints, the presence of police officers visibly increased.

Patric raised an eyebrow at the driver, asking, "What's going on?"

"Mr. Patric," the driver replied, "word is, the Miller family is looking for someone."

Hearing this, Maja's eyes lit up.

Carol!

The Miller family's influence in Greenfield was significant. Carol must have convinced Abner to help.

Tears welled up in Maja's eyes as she mustered every ounce of strength she had to try and break the

car window and roll out.

But even with all her might, she could only make a sound against the glass.

Upon seeing this, Patric pulled her back, a smirk playing on his lips.

"Didn't I tell you to behave? I don't have much patience, don't test me."

Maja was desperate. She knew the power of the Miller family; that was her chance to escape.

The next moment, the car was pulled over by the police.

Patric rolled down the window, "Something wrong, officer?"

"A major criminal suspect has escaped. We need to check your vehicle."

The area was swarming with flashing police lights as they conducted a thorough search of every

vehicle.

Thanks to Carol, Maja saw a glimmer of hope.

She tried to move, but Patric pulled her back as soon as she mustered some strength.

The officer's gaze landed on Maja.

Patric gave him a casual smile, "My wife. Seven months pregnant and on our way to the hospital for a

check-up."

The officer, a veteran with years of experience, leaned in to assess Maja's condition.

"Mmm." Maja tried to get the officer's attention, her face breaking out in a sweat.

"What's wrong with her?" The officer asked.

"She's not feeling well. That's why we're heading to the hospital," Patric replied, squeezing her closer to

him.

Upon hearing that a pregnant woman was unwell, the officer was about to step back when he heard

Carol's voice.

"Mr. Zack, any updates on the search?"

At the sound of Carol's voice, Maja's pupils dilated. She struggled, leaning out of the car window.

She even bit her own tongue, the pain causing tears to well up in her eyes.

But the intense pain gave her a burst of strength, and she managed to tumble out of the car.

She landed right in front of the startled officer. Patric quickly pulled her back into the car.

"Honey, are you okay?"

Patric sounded genuinely concerned, and the officer didn't press further. He closed the door and said,

"You better get going. You can't delay when it comes to a pregnant woman's health. The ER is still

open."

He then turned to Carol, "We're still on it."

"Mr. Zack, thank you for your assistance," Carol replied.

The officer merely chuckled, "You being polite all of a sudden, I'm not used to it. Don't worry, and we'll

let you know as soon as we have any news."

As he was leaving, Carol asked, "What happened just now? I saw someone fall?"

"A pregnant woman fell. They're on their way to the hospital."

"Did you check her belly?"

The officer was taken aback. The sight of a pregnant woman falling had unnerved him, and he had

completely forgotten to check her belly.

Just as Carol was about to say something more, she heard Ian's voice behind her, "Follow that car."

She turned around in surprise to find Ian there.

He was dressed in a new suit, looking slightly rushed with a few buttons of his shirt undone.

Wasn't Ian supposed to be done with Maja?
