Chapter 1119

lan hadn’t expected Judith to suddenly embrace him. He’d just been about to push her away when shelet go, tilting her head back to talk to him.

His mind was somewhat foggy, his fingertips still absent–mindedly touching the piece of fabric frombefore.

After a while, he lowered his hand, hearing Judith ask, “lan, do you want to grab dinner with metonight?”

lan averted his gaze, an image of Maja flashed in his mind, but he quickly discarded it.

“Sure.”

Judith’s gaze passed over him, landing on Maja in the distance, her expression full of challenge.

“Sounds good. You can choose the restaurant. Just let me know where”

Maja knew Judith was just trying to provoke her, and it was working, she was genuinely irritated.

She turned around, retreating back to the elevatornovelbin

As the elevator doors closed, she leaned against the back wall, feeling exhausted.

When she reached the lobby on the first floor, she ran into Jeff.

Jeff was holding a bouquet of flowers, looking somewhat awkward when he saw her.

“Ms. Pennyfeather”

Maja knew the flowers weren’t for her. They must be for Judith.

She managed a small smile, nodding, and then walked away.

Jeff held the flowers, unsure of what to say.

When he reached the hospital floor, he gave the flowers to another woman in a different room, the wifeof a close business associate. The flowers were actually from the associate, Jeff had just brought themalong, not expecting to run into Maja.

He went to Judith’s room, and when he saw lan, he said, “I ran into Ms. Pennyfeather”

Jan thought he had run into her at the Raymond Corporation building, he just nodded, his faceexpressionless

“Jeff, find a good restaurant nearby

“Are you taking Ms. Sanders out for dinner?”

“Yes”

lan’s lips were pressed into a thin line, his gaze landing on the piece of fabric from before.

Jeff didn’t dare to question him, he immediately started looking for a restaurant.

lan returned to the Raymond Corporation to continue working, but he couldn’t seem to concentrate.

After a while, he went to the Raymond Corporation’s surveillance room, pulled up the footage of Majaentering the Raymond Corporation building.

From the moment she entered the lobby, she was calm, not showing a hint of guilt, just like her.

He lit a cigarette, even though the surveillance video was only a few minutes long, he replayed ithundreds of times.

When the surveillance room staff returned, they were startled to see him, quickly closing the door andleaving.

After lan finished a cigarette, his eyes were a bit red. He just stared at the video, watching it over andover again.

By the time he lit his fifth cigarette, he finally coughed a few times, waving away the smoke in front ofhim.

Then he stood up and left the room.

The surveillance room staff was still standing in the corridor, not daring to disturb him

It wasn’t until they were sure he had left that they entered the room.

The room was filled with the smell of smoke, there were several cigarette butts in the ashtray. No onewas supposed to smoke in this room, but the staff didn’t dare to say anything

They just thought that the man they saw when they opened the door just now wasn’t the vibrant andenergetic boss they knew.

It was as if hed been pulled down from his pedestal and brought back to reality

But even in his melancholy, lan seemed unattainable

The staff didn’t dare to tell anyone else about seeing the boss in the surveillance room, and theyrecognized the woman on the screen as the designer who used to be around the boss

When chasing after love, these rich people sometimes seemed as foolish as ordinary people.

The staff sighed, pouring the cigarette butts from the ashtray into the trash, and turned off thesurveillance feed.

When lan returned to his office, he stared blankly at the documents in front of him.

The words on the documents seemed like distorted tadpoles, he couldn’t concentrate on them.

When Jeff came in, he wanted to ask about Maja.

“Ms. Pennyfeather, she *

Before he could finish his sentence, lan picked up a file from the side, forcing himself to open it.

“There’s a meeting later.”

In other words, he didn’t want to discuss anything unrelated to work.

Jeff closed his mouth, sighing slightly.

lan worked late into the evening, receiving information about the restaurant on his phone.

He personally went to pick up Judith, feeling somewhat dazed on the drive over, he even rear–endedthe car in front of him.

When the driver of the car got out, he realized it was Samuel

Samuel looked at him, raising an eyebrow

“Hey, Mr Raymond

lan ignored him, instead dialing the insurance company.

!

Samuel wasn’t about to let this opportunity pass, he approached with a smug grin.

1 heard you are planning to court Miss Sanders of the Sanders family. I envy you, Mr. Raymond. Eventhough you divorced your previous wife, you still have a backup. Unlike me, I only have eyes for onewoman. Speaking of which, I heard she’s single now, I’m planning to pursue her. Wish me luck, MrRaymond
