“Why?” Jasper’s eyes wavered in shock as he frowned. He had taken a while to build up the couragefor the apology. For that, he lost sleep
for a week.
At first, he had planned to apologize to Alice at Newton’s birthday event. However, when he heard thatLandon had shown up at Alice’s place, he could walt no more and Immediately mished over to meether.
He was confused by his rash action as he had never behaved in this way in the past. He knew therewas a switch button for his emotions, but it slowly dawned upon him that Alice was in control of it.
“Llana should be apologizing to me. Why would you do that on her behalf? Are you showing off yourlove for her?” Her icy gaze pierced through him. “If she committed a murder, would you take thepunishment for her as well?”
“Alice, I’m here to offer a sincere apology!‘ He raised his voice,
“I feel you’re here to anger me.” She chuckled. Her eyes were dripping with iciness. “You shouldn’tthrow around your apology. It’s an affront.”
“Are you picking on me?” His lone grew hostile.
“You’re the one who’s picking on me. I didn’t Invite you to my place. You showed up only to besnubbed.” She attempted to free her wrist. which hurt to the core. “Let go of me! I’m going back!”
“So what if I apologize on her behall? At the end of the day, I’ve offered you an apology. What elseshould I do to make you happy?” Losing control of his temper, he grabbed her by the shoulders and
shook her.
“It was never my intention to force you into giving In. I wanted only for you to love me, but I understoodand accepted the fact that you would never do so. Why would you annoy me after I’ve receivedclosure? Am I that insignificant to you?”
She smiled bitterly. Her eyes were red in anger. Shocked, he felt that she had stared through his soul.
“I want you to stay out of my life and never show up again. Bye. See yourself out.”
She flung his hands off her shoulders, but he grabbed her hand. “How could you possibly keep me outof your life? You’ll always be a divorcee after we end our marriage. You can never wipe away ourhistory.”
“That’s for me to decide. You might think of it as a divorce, but I feel like I’m widowed.” She looked athim with disdain as though he was a
speck of dust.
Suddenly, his gaze flickered, as if he had been struck. His mind buzzed as a sharp pain coursedthrough it.
He gasped as his hand trembled in pain. “Alice, I will never let go of you! You’re taking my last name!Don’t ever dream of starting anew as long as I refuse to divorce you.” J
Tears rolled down her cheeks. She could take it no more and slapped him across the face. This washer second time hitting him, but it felt different. There was a hole in her heart, as if he had physicallystabbed her with his words.
“Had I known you were such a jerk, I wouldn’t have married you!”
She fled his car and slammed the car door behind her. She hastily ran into the villa in the rain withouteven taking her umbrella.
Jasper looked on with vacant eyes. His head froze in the lilted position after she slapped him on thecheek.
Moments later, he curled into a ball and wrapped his arms around his head. Trembling, he sufferedthrough the throbbing headache,
looking pitiful and miserable.
Back in the villa, Alyssa stayed out of Sean’s way and ran into her bedroom. She couldn’t hold back heremotions when she reached the
top of the stairs.
With one hand on the wall, she gripped her sleeves with the other. Gasping like a drowning person, shehad to muster all her energy to stop the tears from falling.novelbin
Alice/ Landon approached her from behind with a concerned voice. She gritted her teeth and held hertears back.
“I’m tired. I won’t see you off as I need my rest. Thanks for the gift.”
“Alice, what’s wrong?” He questioned with trepidation.
“Nothing’s wrong. Good night.”
“Alice!” He went up to her in huge strides and held her shoulders, forcing her to turn and face him.
She felt a little dizzy after he forcefully spun her around. Her misty eyes looked glazed and woeful,adding to her allure.
“Are you crying?” He stared at her fearfully.
“No,” she answered flatly, only to be betrayed by her reddened eyes.
“Did Jasper make you angry? He’s just a dumb and insensible dude! Don’t take his words to heart.He’s not worth it.”
