Chapter 560
Chapter 560
Gwen continued, “After all, he isn’t Eddy’s second uncle. Am I right, Carol?”
After hearing her words, Caroline stopped trying to get out of bed. But soon, she felt uneasy and tried
to get up again. Fortunately, at this moment, there was a knock on the door.
Gwen said happily, “See? I told you he would be back soon.”
Then, she yelled at the door, “Quit knocking and come in here. Carol is eager to see you.”
Eddy, who opened the door and entered, was stunned when he heard Gwen’s words. He glanced at
Caroline, his cheeks strangely beginning to turn warm.
When the three women saw Eddy come in, their expressions shifted.
“Why is it you?” Gwen asked, dumbfounded.
But Eddy didn’t hear Gwen at all.
He kept his eyes on Caroline. He probably hadn’t seen Caroline for a long time. He felt his emotions
swell when he saw her today.
Despite being unwell, Caroline didn’t come off as weak at all. Instead, she looked beautiful, even when
she was sick.
She looked gentle and delicate, quickly arousing Eddy’s protective instincts.
“I heard Jane’s people tried to kill you. What’s going on?” Eddy asked. He couldn’t resist walking
over to Caroline’s side.
Caroline frowned. She didn’t want to talk to Eddy. After all, this had happened because of the
Morrisons.
Gwen looked at Caroline, then Eddy, and scoffed. “Can’t you see that Carol doesn’t want to see you,
Mr. Eddy?”
Once more, Eddy didn’t seem to hear Gwen’s words. He raised his head and asked Gwen and Sonia,
“Can you both go out for a while? I want to talk to Caroline in private.” novelbin
Gwen was about to refuse, but Caroline interrupted, “Gwen, Sonia, you both still have work, so you
should go. I’ll be fine here.”

Caroline was mainly worried about Sonia. Sonia was a big star and was busy with tons of work. It
would be bad if her work got delayed because she had to visit her.
Gwen said reluctantly, “Carol …”
Caroline gave her a reassuring look, then looked at Sonia. “Sonia, take Gwen away.”
Sonia did as she was told. “Okay, Caroline.”
After the two women left, Caroline closed her eyes indifferently.
Ever since she had found out that Eddy’s second uncle had asked Kirk to register the marriage on
his behalf, her impression of the Morrisons had worsened.
All of them seemed to think they could do whatever they wanted because of their wealth.
She spat, “Quickly say whatever you want and leave.”
Eddy felt very uncomfortable seeing Caroline’s indifference. “You never treated me like this back then.”
He regretted those words as soon as he said them. He wanted to take it back, but it was too late.
Caroline slowly opened her eyes and sneered at him. “That’s because you were my future partner back
then, so I treated you like one. I cared for you and respected you.
“But now, you’re just a stranger to me. I’m free to treat you however I want.”
Eddy’s heart dropped at her words. He asked, “Are you still playing hard–to–get at a time like this?”
His words amused Caroline. She looked at Eddy and said bluntly, “Eddy, why won’t you accept that I
no longer have feelings for you?
“Don’t tell me you can’t bear to see me leave you. Is that why you keep deceiving yourself and telling
yourself I’m playing hard–to–get?”
Her words cut into the depths of Eddy’s heart like a knife. The pain revealed his true feelings.
He stood there, trembling, as he looked at Caroline miserably.
