to her.”
Howard kicked the butler in the chest. “You useless fool. Why are you telling me such an important
piece of news now?”
The butler clutched his chest. “Sir, I sent people out to search for her yesterday, but no one’s found
her, even now. We should make a police report immediately.”
Howard gritted his teeth and said, “Let me ask you something. Why did she go out yesterday?”
“S–she… she…” The butler lowered his head, not daring to tell Howard.

downstairs. “Officers, what brings you here?”
The policeman at the front was stern as he brought out an arrest warrant. “Good evening, we’re
here to see Jane Dawson. She’s implicated in an abduction and murder case.”
Howard clenched his fists tightly to maintain his composure.
“Officers, you must be mistaken. Other than playing cards and shopping, that wife of mine doesn’t
do anything much. How could she possibly have abducted or tried to murder anyone?”
“Mr. Collins,” the policeman started. He was unaffected by Howard’s words.
“We will investigate the truth of what happened. If the suspect is innocent, we will naturally
release her. For now, please ask her to come out.”
“She she…”
“Mr. Collins!” The policeman sounded even more stern now.
“Search the place!” Seeing that Howard wasn’t willing to bring Jane out after a long while, the
