Chapter 550

After all, Jude was Kirk’s uncle. How could Kirk lie to him?

“Grandpa,” Eddy reminded again lowly.

Thomas quickly said to Howard, “Mr. Collins, where’s your wife? Why hasn’t she come downstairs

yet? Kirk’s here already, too. Does she want everyone to wait for her?”

Howard chuckled and said, “Hardly. I’ll have someone call her down right now.”

As he said this, he waved one of the employees over. “Hurry up and ask the madam to come

downstairs.”

The employee rushed upstairs.

However, many minutes later, Jane still didn’t show up.

Howard frowned and quietly had someone go upstairs to rush her.

Then, he said to the crowd, “Everyone, please take a seat. Women are quite difficult, always having

to put on makeup, change, and all that. I’m sorry for making you all wait.”

The attendees smiled in understanding and went to take their assigned seats.

Throughout this time, Kirk remained expressionless.

Damien used this golden opportunity to raise a glass to Kirk.

He said, “Mr. Kirk, thank you for all your help and taking Adrian with you to make so much

money. He’s even managed to make some headway into foreign markets successfully.”

He continued, “These past few years, Sorkin Group has tried to expand outward, but we never

managed. I really must thank you tonight.”

Kirk raised his wine glass and said blandly, “You should thank Adrian if you want to thank

someone.”

Damien didn’t understand. He looked at Anthony beside him. However, Anthony was perplexed as

well.

“Mr. Kirk, what do you mean?”

“He has a good eye,” Kirk answered.

After all, Adrian had been interested in Caroline. That was why Kirk had to think up a way to keep him

overseas.

However, Damien misunderstood Kirk’s meaning. He thought that Kirk was praising Adrian for having anovelbin

keen eye for business.

“Mr. Kirk, you’re too kind. That child had always caused such trouble growing up. We…”

Seeing how indifferent Kirk seemed and how totally uninterested he was in chatting, Damien didn’t

know what to say.

After all, he was head of the Sorkin family, the second–most elite family in Easton. Yet he was at a

loss.

In the past, he had made others speechless. But before Kirk, he was cowering when faced with the

way Kirk held himself, even if he kept telling himself that Kirk was younger than him.

The living room fell into a chilly silence. Nobody dared to speak.

In the end, Eddy walked up and said, “Uncle Kirk, what have you been working on lately? It’s been so

long since I last saw you.”

Kirk’s gaze fell on Howard. “I’ve been busy doing business with Mr. Collins.”

Howard was overjoyed at being mentioned. “You’re being too kind, Mr. Kirk. It’s all because of your

help that we managed to work together.

“Collins Group should be thanking you for all you’ve done to nurture us. I’m sure that we’ll grow even

bigger soon.”

“Naturally. With Mr. Kirk leading the way, you’ll definitely get richer,” Aiden said admiringly.

“We have no such luck.”

“That’s right.” Damien took Aiden’s lead and started bootlicking.

“With Mr. Kirk around, the Collins family will be surpassing us soon.”

Howard smiled, pleased. He faked humility and said, “How can that be?”

In truth, he was so happy that he might as well have been a dog wagging its tail.
