Chapter 214

“She’s just inhumane, isn’t she? I never knew she was a freeloader back home!”

“She abandoned her parents after getting married. Saying that she’s lost her brain cells would be an un

derstatement.”

“Is it really worth it for her to do all this for an ordinary office employee?”

Caroline strode into the design department in her high heels. She heard tons of whispers about her.

She walked through the office area calmly.

Some people keenly noticed her walking by and hurriedly signaled their companions to quiet down. So

on, the office became dead silent.

Caroline didn’t say anything in response. There was no point in doing so. She might as well prove her i

nnocence with cold, hard facts.

When she pushed the door to her office open, she saw Vivian sitting Inside.

Caroline raised her eyebrows in surprise and asked, “What are you doing in my office?”

“Of course I’m here to see you, Caroline. You’re trending on the internet. How are you planning to deal

with it?”

“That is a personal matter.” Caroline sat on her chair, feeling uncomfortable.

She said, “I have nothing to say.”

Vivian paid close attention to Caroline’s expression.

Seeing that Caroline didn’t use the computer, Vivian let out a sigh. She walked over and put both hands

on the table, looking at Caroline with a half–smile.

“Although this is your personal matter, it’ll be bad if it affects the company’s reputation.”

Caroline sneered, “You’re just an assistant

director, but you’re talking back to your superior. Aren’t you afraid that I’ll fire you?”

“You wouldn’t dare.”

Caroline grinned. “Why wouldn’t I? If

you constantly make trouble for me and delay our company’s work progress, forget me–

I doubt even Mr. Hawkins will indulge you.”

Vivian grimaced at her words. But somehow she smiled again. She mocked, “You won’t be smiling muc

h longer, Caroline.” She turned around and left the office.

Caroline thought Vivian was referring to Sarah’s accusations, so she didn’t take her words to heart.

She still felt uncomfortable in her seat, even after she had turned on the computer. She adjusted her ch

air and finally found a comfortable position.

Caroline frowned, staring at her chair in suspicion. Her chair was in a fixed position and had no wheels.

Whenever she got off work, she would stand up and leave withoutnovelbin

shifting the chair. She had never felt uncomfortable sitting in this chair.

Caroline thought about Vivian, who had just left. She called Cheryl into her office. “Cheryl, did you kno

w Vivian came into my office just now?”

Cheryl panicked. She stuttered, “I–I didn’t know that. S–

Susan asked me to take some documents to Mr. Hawkins just now.”

Caroline frowned and said sternly, “So, you just listen to whatever she says?”

1-1 Cheryl didn’t know how to respond.

“You’d better remember that I’m your superior, not Susan.” Noticing that Cheryl was about to cry, Caroli

ne sighed.

“Cheryl, this is a workplace. No one will show sympathy if you cry. Anyone

who wants to come into my office needs my permission first. Do you understand?”

Cheryl nodded, desperately holding back the tears in her eyes. “Yes. I understand”

After Caroline asked Cheryl to leave, she began to check her office. There were no signs of Vivian tam

pering with important documents or opening the drawers. So, why had she come in here?

Caroline

stared at the chair. Did Vivian just sit in her chair to experience what it was like to be the design director

?

She was lost in thought when the phone rang. It was a call from Star King Public Relations. It was the

best public relations agency in the industry. Many celebrities liked working with them.
