Chatper 1921

Grace raised her glass and smiled.”Cheers, everyone! No need for formality. Dig in and enjoy yourselves.”

Seeing the tempting array of dishes, the disciples of the Embersteel Order eagerly indulged, savoring each bite withouthesitation. As rounds of wine flowed, their camaraderie began to flourish.

“Ms. Linsor, Dustin, judging by your appearances, you're not locals. Are you also on the hunt for the treasure?” Jackson subtlyasked.

“Yes, we heard of treasures in the Deadlands, so we assembled a team for the challenge and to gain some experience,” shereplied candidly.

It was universally understood that anyone braving the dangerous Deadlands was on a quest for its hidden treasures.Considering the treacherous nature of the terrain, the idea of visiting for leisure was entirely dismissed.

“Ms. Linsor, pardon my directness, but venturing into the Deadlands carries significant risks,” Jackson cautioned, eyeing themboth.

He added, “A single misstep could prove fatal, and it seems neither of you is accustomed to handling such dangers. You shouldrethink your decision.”

Grace smiled in acknowledgment of his concern. “Jackson, | appreciate your warning, but we have our reasons for this trip.”

“If you're set on going, you could tag along with us. That way, you'll have someone looking out for you,” Jackson suggested.Dustin, intrigued, joined the conversation. “Are you guys on a treasure hunt in the Deadlands too?”

“Not exactly,” Jackson replied honestly. “Our sect’s current mission is to explore the sudden emergence of an oasis in theDeadlands.”

“Be mindful of your words, Jackson,” an Embersteel Order’s disciple interjected cautiously. The caution stemmed from areluctance to reveal too much about their mission.

Sensing the hesitation, Dustin reassured, “If there’s something you can’t share, don’t worry about it.”“No problem. We're friends. There’s no need for secrets,” Jackson said, casually dismissing the caution.

“Our mission involves investigating that mysterious oasis that recently appeared in the Deadlands. Word is, it’s expanding rapidlyand might be hiding some epic treasures.”

He added, “Where there’s abnormality, there might be something supernatural. Our sect has tasked us with exploring itthoroughly to unravel the mystery.”

“We've heard about the oasis, and we’re planning to explore it too,” Grace replied.

Jackson said, “Seems like we're on the same page. Rumor has it that once you step into the oasis, it’s a one-way ticket -no oneever makes it out. We're in the dark about what really happens inside.”

His tone grew serious as he whispered, “The real concern isn’t just the dangers within the oasis. It’s the skilled people. Somehave good intentions, but others are driven by malicious motives. They are the real threat.”

In the martial world, people of all kinds existed. Alliances could quickly turn into rivalries, even with strangers. Pursuing treasureswithout strong power or reliable support was futile.novelbin

“You're right.” Grace nodded in agreement. “This treasure hunt will draw in a lot of experts, and if conflicts arise, things could getmessy.”

“Don’t worry too much. Stick with our Embersteel Order, and I’m confident you'll be safe,” Jackson reassured her confidently.

The Embersteel Order commanded considerable power and influence in the southwestern territory. Unless dealing with notorioustroublemakers, most sect experts hesitated to cross paths with them.

They were enjoying their drinks and having casual conversations when Garrett and the members of the Black Scorpion Squadapproached hastily.

“Ms. Linsor! Great news!” Garret reported, “Intel just came in- someone has returned from the oasis!”
