Different emotions flickered in Richard’s eyes. He then pushed Justin’s hands away. “Go away.”
The spark of enthusiasm that had briefly ignited in Justin was quickly extinguished. Awkwardly, he
touched his nose. “I was just kidding. If you want to win her back, you’ll have to do it yourself.”

Justin marveled at Richard’s disappointing behavior. “It’s obvious that you love Pearl. I don’t
understand why you’d want to
be with Jenny when it’s so obvious you have no feelings for her.”
Richard wondered if it was that obvious. Swirling the wine in his glass, he hesitated. “Ezra kidnapped
my mom and forced me to break up with Pearl so she could go back and get engaged.”
Stunned, Justin couldn’t believe what he was hearing. “Why didn’t you tell me about such a serious
matter earlier?”
“It wouldn’t change anything even if I told you.”
“You could tell Pearl even if you didn’t tell me. Do you really think she won’t understand you?”
Richard’s eyes were gloomy. For the first time, he started to feel like retreating. “If I had been
threatened with my family once, it would have kept happening. This kind of relationship is torture for
Pearl.”
Thinking of Raymond, he couldn’t help but smile. “And Raymond is pretty good too.” With that, he
downed the rest of his
wine.
“You’re Richard! If you can’t be with the woman you love, you’d better give up on life!” Justin felt like
slapping some sense into Richard.
For a moment, Richard looked at Justin, utterly speechless.
“You need to clarify things. If you regret it, it’ll be too late. Besides, Pearl is no ordinary woman. She
has the ability to work through any problem with you.”
Hearing this, Richard was deeply moved. He started to wonder if he could accept the fact that he had
broken up with Pearl.

Richard’s sudden determination surprised Justin. “What have you understood?”
“I’m going to steal her away.”
Justin choked on his wine. “What? I was just joking with you. I didn’t ask you to do that!”
“Alright, just go home.” Richard gave Justin a calm look. Then, he set his glass down and sat at his
computer. Perplexed by Richard’s sudden change in spirits, Justin left, feeling like his presence was no
longer needed.
Pearl was strolling in the garden outside the Jordans’ villa while on the phone with Esther, discussing
her plans. Suddenly, she noticed someone scaling the fence to sneak inside.
Alarmed, she concealed herself behind a hedge, quietly observing the intruder. Strangely, the person
looked oddly familiar.
