Chapter 657 Wish You a Speedy Success

"Andrew, shut up!" Samuel shouted.

Andrew was furious, his features distorted. Now that Samuel was present, Andrew could say no more.

"Maximilian, go on greeting the guests with Victoria. We can go in and hang around on our own,"

Samuel said amiably.

Maximilian made an eye gesture to Victoria, signaling her to send Samuel in.

Helping Samuel, Victoria brought Andrew and Darian into the villa.

It was almost noon, and most of the guests had arrived. The people had already taken their seats in the

yard, waiting for the housewarming banquet to start.

At 12 at noon, Marcus and Laura expressed their gratitude with ruddy cheeks and then announced the

beginning of the banquet.

Exquisite dishes were served one after another. All the guests were enjoying the delicious food.

Marcus passed a pair of chopsticks to Samuel. "How about moving into my house and staying with us

for several days, Dad?"

"Well, your place is good indeed, but it’s too far away from my old friends. I prefer to stay in the same

place since I enjoy chatting with my old friends. Marcus, you have an amazing son-in-law. Maximiliannovelbin

seized the opportunity and his life changed. You’re so lucky."

"Dad, you’re flattering Maximilian, but he is talented indeed, especially in painting. His painting skill is

no worse than the ancient masters’."

Marcus couldn’t resist paying Maximilian a compliment. Actually, Marcus was shocked by his superb

painting skill last time.

"Pfft, no worse than the ancient masters? Which ancient master are you referring to? Could it be

someone who was unable to paint at all?" Andrew taunted.

Now, Andrew couldn’t hear any compliment to Maximilian at all. Anyone who said something good

about Maximilian seemed to be Andrew’s enemy.

Marcus squinted at Andrew and took out an ivory folding fan with a smile. "Andrew, this is a folding fan

I just collected. Please have a look for me."

Andrew took over the folding fan, spread it and looked it over. Then his hand, which was holding the

fan, started to tremble slightly.

"How… how much did you pay for it? It seems authentic to me. I’m afraid you might have spent some

good money on it, right?"

"Hahaha, this is not authentic at all. The painting on it was done by Maximilian a few years ago. I’m

afraid it’s beyond your imagination, Andrew," Marcus explained complacently.

Andrew frowned, lowered his head and took a closer look at the painting on the fan. Then he shook his

head and said, "Impossible. It can’t be Maximilian’s painting!"

"Andrew, I knew you wouldn’t believe me. At first, I didn’t believe it either, but there’s Maximilian’s

secret mark on the painting. You’ll know it with the help of a magnifying glass, Andrew."

Marcus took out a magnifying glass and handed it to Andrew. Pointing at the stone at the corner of the

painting, Marcus said, "Andrew, take a closer look at this corner. You will see Maximilian’s name here."

Andrew took a good look at the painting with the help of the magnifying glass. He was so surprised that

it fell on the table.

"How… how can it be… like this?"

"Andrew, we’ve looked down upon Maximilian before. Now, I am ashamed at the thought of how I’ve

treated him in the past," Marcus said slowly.

Andrew’s face became blue in an instant, unable to say anything for quite a while.

Samuel took over the fan and looked it over with Darian, and both of them were astonished.

"Marvelous indeed. I never expected Maximilian to be so talented. I’ve really underestimated him."

"Exactly. Now it seems to be my fault when I think of my attitude towards him back then."

Samuel and Darian exchanged glances, both of them looking guilty.

Victoria could feel that the mood was getting grim, so she smiled and said, "Grandpa, have a taste of

this dish. It’s made of the green vegetables grown in the mountain areas. It’s so delicious."

"Hahaha, fine, I’ll have a taste of it. By the way, where is Maximilian? I don’t see him here."

"Maybe Maximilian’s still greeting the guests. Let’s eat first," Marcus called.

The Griffith family started on the dishes one after another, full of praise for the food on the table.

Meanwhile, Maximilian was standing at the gate of the yard. He glanced at his wrist watch and found it

was already 15 minutes after the banquet had begun. There should be no more guest coming.

Turning around and going into the yard, Maximilian walked over to the host table and had a seat. He

greeted Samuel and the others, and then proposed a toast to everyone at the table.

When Maximilian finished his toasts, Victoria had put a lot of food on to his plate. "Have some food first.

Why do you start drinking so much?"

"It’s a happy day, so I have to drink more."

After that, Maximilian picked up the chopsticks and started to eat. A kitchen helper responsible for

serving the dishes took a glance at Maximilian and trotted back to the kitchen.

While in the kitchen, the helper walked up to the chef and told him, "Maximilian had already started to

eat."

"Did you see clearly that he was eating the food?"

"I did."

"Good then. I’ve been worrying that he wouldn’t sit at the table and eat. It will take the drug in the

dishes over half an hour to take effect. Now, let’s contact the young master."

The chef muttered, took out his phone and made a call to Preston.

Preston answered the phone and turned excited. He said to Master Benedict sitting next to him,

"Master Benedict, I’m half way there. Now I’m going to seize the fruits of our victory."

"I wish you a speedy success. I’ll be staying here waiting for your good news," Master Benedict said

slowly.

"What? Aren’t you going with me, Master Benedict? Please go and watch how I humiliate Maximilian."

"I’m old and have difficulty in walking. I’d better sit here and wait."

Preston smiled and said, nodding, "OK. In that case, I’m leaving now. Please wait for my good news,

Master Benedict."

Master Benedict watched Preston leaving, narrowed his eyes and pondered for a while. Then he put up

his hand and waved.

The assistant not far away trotted up to him. "Do you want anything, Master Benedict?"

"Get the car ready. Bring as many people as we have. We will leave for the mountaintop villa in ten

minutes."

"OK."

The assistant started to make arrangements at once. His eyes gleaming, Master Benedict’s mind was

racing.

It was simply a small plan of Master Benedict to have Preston take one step ahead. When Master

Benedict set off in ten minutes, he would win the game by playing the role of the wolf while the

shepherd was quarreling. At that time, no matter Preston won or lost, Master Benedict would make the

most suitable choice.

"By the way, prepare a nice gift. It may come in handy."

"I see."

The assistant got busy. When he had finished making arrangements as Master Benedict had ordered,

ten minutes had already passed.

Master Benedict stood up and got into the car. The fleet of vehicles started slowly, heading for the

mountaintop villa.

"When we arrive later, act as I tell you to do. Don’t shoot off your mouth. Don’t take action without my

order. Pass my commands down."
