Chapter 639

Chapter 639 Worse Than Zendaya

“Understood, Mr. Nico,” answered Jasper expeditiously. Then, he asked, “I heard you’re getting

engaged. Are you keeping your future wife company tomorrow?”

Nico knitted his eyebrows and stated, “Don’t ask about my private life. Do what I tell you to, and I’ll

check up on the matters the day after tomorrow. If you get lazy and do a sloppy job, I won’t let you off

the hook just because we’re buddies.”

“Yes, yes, yes. You’re now the deputy director and my superior.”

I would’ve kicked him if he were standing in front of me right now. “The tactics you used on Craig won’t

work on me. Mr. Jenson trained me, so I only acknowledge his management style.”

“Okay, got it.”

Annoyed, Nico hung up the call and went upstairs.

Summer’s door wasn’t locked, so he glanced into her room when heading down the corridor. He saw a

few large suitcases lying on the ground and her packing her clothes.

Perplexed, Nico entered the room. “What are you doing?”

Without glancing at him, she answered. “I’m moving to the campus tomorrow morning, so I’m packing

my clothes in advance.”

“You’re only staying there for at most a week, so why are there this many suitcases on the ground?

You’re even taking the fox fur cloak. Are you planning to bring your entire wardrobe there and not

return here anymore?”

Summer ignored him and continued her packing.

Instead of wasting his breath, Nico grabbed the neatly folded clothes in the suitcases and returned

them to the wardrobe.

His lightning speed was thanks to his training in the military. In the time Summer took to fold a few

shirts, he had already stuffed all the clothes in the suitcases back into the wardrobe.

“These are my clothes, Nico. You don’t get a say in how many I take with me.” Summer frowned at him.

Leaning against the wardrobe door, he jested, “These clothes are bought with my money, so I think I

do.”

Summer had no retort because he was right. Thus, she stopped. “Fine, I won’t bring any with me. You

bought these, so keep them.”

Her fair, tender cheeks were flushed with anger.

Nico was entertained by teasing his cute, future wife.

A moment later, he tugged her slender waist and joked, “I bought the skirt you’re wearing, too.”

Summer was taken aback by his remark as she stared at him. I didn’t expect him to be this shameless!

His stinginess knows no bounds!

“You’re such a bully, Nico!” Her eyes reddened as she was genuinely enraged.

Because of her delicate voice, the miniskirt on her seemed even more sexy.

Her scowl wasn’t at all intimidating. Instead, she seemed aggrieved.

Seeing that he was going too far with his joke, Nico grabbed her hand and grinned. “I meant to say that

you don’t need to pack your luggage and hurry to the campus tomorrow morning. I’ve already asked

my subordinate to handle my important tasks. Therefore, I’ll be keeping you company for the whole day

tomorrow.”

Summer was stunned for a moment before she pouted. “Really? You’ll be by my side for the whole

day?”

Nico nodded seriously, his coarse fingertips brushing past her cheek. “I’ll keep you company from

morning till midnight.”

That delighted Summer. Her wrath was instantly doused. “In that case, I’ll plan ahead and decide the

locations we’ll visit tomorrow!”

Nico nodded. “Sure.”

The next morning, after Charles finished arranging his work, he went to Harrick Villa.

As the twins godfather, he had bought gifts for them.

When Cedrick and Gwendolyn were around, he would treat the twins fairly and buy two of each toy.

The toys would be in different colors, of course.

However, seeing that the couple wasn’t around, he forwent his usual facade and only bought a bunch

of toys for Zendaya but none for Benedict.

Even Zoey couldn’t bear to watch his obvious bias.novelbin

“It’s nice that you bought so many gifts for Ms. Zendy, Mr. Newton, However, I don’t think she can play

with all of them. Perhaps you should give some of them to Mr. Benny?”

Without hesitation, Charles spat, “These are rewards for Zendy because she wasn’t naughty, and her

appetite remains healthy.”

Then, he glanced at Benedict. “Meanwhile, Benny’s performance hasn’t been great lately. He isn’t

drinking milk as well as his sister. If this continues, he’ll become lighter than her. Consider his lack of

gifts my little punishment for him.”

Zoey pursed her lips. “Mr. Newton, Mr. Benny is only a few months old. He doesn’t understand what

you’re saying, so what’s the point of punishing him like this?”

Unwilling to continue that topic, Charles said. “How were they with their breakfast?”

Zoey proceeded to check the record book she used to keep track of their meal consumption. “Mr.

Benny is drinking even less compared to last morning, while Ms. Zendy’s appetite remains the same.”

Charles furrowed his eyebrows and glanced at the slumbering Benedict. His appetite has been getting

worse for a few days in a row, and his mental state seems to be deteriorating too.

Then, he patted the boy’s face and shook a rattle in front of the infant.

However, that didn’t wake Benedict up.

Puzzled, Charles asked, “Did you check his body temperature?”

“I did before you arrived this morning, Mr. Newton. It’s normal, and he’s not having a fever,” answered

Zoey.

“What about his mental state? Is he interested in the toys you play with him?”

“Sometimes he is, sometimes not.”

I guess Benny should receive a checkup, just in case. Charles ordered, “Continue to monitor his

appetite. If it’s still decreasing at lunch, call the pediatrician from the Jenson family’s medical corps to

perform a checkup on him.”

“Understood, Mr. Newton.” Zoey sighed and continued, “Actually, every child’s physique is different.

Perhaps Mr. Benny’s physique is naturally worse than Ms. Zendy’s. As long as his condition isn’t

terrible, 1 think there’s no need to be alarmed. It’s normal for babies to be lethargic occasionally.”

Of course, Charles knew that.

However, because Gwendolyn had asked him to take care of the babies, he couldn’t afford any

mistakes.

At the very least, he felt compelled to keep everything under control before Cedrick and Gwendolyn

returned.

“They’re still too young, so it’s better to be safe than sorry. Remember to jolt down your observation

after lunch. I’ll return here after work,” commanded Charles.

Zoey nodded. “Okay.”

After she left, Charles tapped on Benedict’s nose. “How can your physique be worse than your little

sister’s when you’re the older brother? Are you expecting your little sister to protect you in the future?

That’s no good, Benedict. You need to learn from her and stay healthy. Don’t follow in your dad’s

footsteps and enjoy pretending to be weak in front of Gwen. Otherwise, I’ll look down on you and won’t

buy you candy when you grow up.” I still remember the various shameless tactics Cedrick employed

when he was still called Maverick to grab Gwendolyn’s attention.
