Chapter 623 He Is Indeed Ill

Chapter 623 He Is Indeed Ill

Anyhow, Yael would never walk away scot-free.

The outcome awaiting him could either be a lenient sentence or a severe one.

As long as Valentino refrained from intervening, Cedrick could resolve the matter the way he wanted.

Gwendolyn gently touched his stiffened face, sighing inwardly. “I understand this outcome must be

unsettling for you. You can always confide in me. I'm all ears.”

Cedrick gently rubbed his cheek against her palm before holding her hand, lowering his head, and

giving her hand a gentle peck.

He realized he should direct his anger solely at those deceitful individuals, sparing his beloved wife

from its effects.

No matter how upset he felt, he would always maintain his gentle demeanor in front of Gwendolyn. “I'm

not upset. I've thought through many things on the way back just now. I've always regarded Grandpa

as my most respected family member. Even before I married you, I considered him the only family I

had.”

Gwendolyn's heart trembled as she asked softly, “How about now?”novelbin

“I've come to realize that my perspective has been overly emotional. While I regarded him as the sole

elder I respected in the family, he saw me as just one of his many grandsons. Despite his love for me,

he also considers his other grandsons, granddaughters, and sons. It's possible that I'm not even his

favorite grandson, and his guilt towards me may stem from my parents' tragedy.” Cedrick lowered his

gaze, concealing the subtle melancholy in his eyes. His calm tone made it seem as if he were narrating

an ordinary matter.

“I don't hold him responsible because I realize it's unfair to sacrifice one son for the sake of another.

However, I cannot accept the fact that he planted spies within Federal Bureau of Investigation to

monitor me. Even in moments of disagreement, he covertly contacts someone to send Xander away

and hide him within the bureau,” he said.

Gwendolyn sighed. “So what are you going to do next?”

“I'll weed out all the spies, eradicating any potential threats. Federal Bureau of Investigation will

implement new regulations and undergo a reformation, establishing clear boundaries that prevent

Grandpa from meddling in any cases in the bureau,” he declared with an icy tone.

With his gaze lowered, his expression turned frigid to the core. “There's no space for negotiation or

compromise when it comes to the strategy for handling Yael. I won't allow Grandpa any opportunity to

intervene, even if he desires to.”

Gwendolyn was well aware of his temperament, so his choice came as no surprise at all.

Of course, she would wholeheartedly support any decision he made. “Go ahead and do what you want

to do. The babies and I will always be on your side.”

Her words instantly brought his attention to an important matter. “Benny and Zendy are still at

Grandpa's house. Considering the present circumstances, it would be best to bring them back home

and ensure their safety. Would you mind going to pick them up tonight?”

Gwendolyn nodded, appreciating his thoughtfulness. Given their recent disagreements with Valentino,

leaving their children at his villa was not a wise choice.

She was concerned that certain family members who had had close ties with Yael might try to play

tricks on them.

After all, their little ones were still too young and vulnerable to endure any mistreatment. They needed

to be taken care of with utmost vigilance.

However, Gwendolyn tightened her grip on his hand and asked, “So, does this mean you don't even

want to set foot inside Grandpa's house?”

Cedrick's voice carried a heavy undertone. “In times like this, I must be cautious of what Grandpa might

say to me. I don't want him to use our family ties to manipulate my emotions. It's better to keep him out

of sight and out of mind.”

Gwendolyn stifled a smile. “I'm glad you've become more open and honest with me lately.”

Cedrick's lips curved into a seductive arc as he pulled her closer, wrapping his arms around her

delicate waist.

He stood confidently at the entrance of his office, unafraid to show intimacy with his wife and proudly

display their affection.

“It's mainly because my wife knows how to discipline and educate me well. The redwood ruler and the

sandalwood washboard at home are the most effective weapons against me. Just the thought of them

is terrifying, so I'd better be good,” he whispered intimately into Gwendolyn's ear.

Gwendolyn playfully flicked his head. “You're just a smooth talker. I don't recall you being afraid of our

household rules whenever you made mistakes.”

The two of them engaged in playful banter, like a couple in the honeymoon phase, never getting tired of

each other's company.

After having dinner at the cafeteria at the bureau, they returned to the Jenson residence.

Cedrick accompanied Gwendolyn to a corner fifty meters away from the entrance of Valentino's villa.

He decided not to go near the entrance to avoid being seen by Logan, the bodyguards, or the

household staff, as it could create unnecessary complications.

He patiently waited in the alley while his wife went to pick up their children.

An hour later, Gwendolyn held Benedict in her arms, while Zoey carried Zendaya, as they departed

from Valentino's villa.

Elven and Ezra assisted in carrying the bags of baby supplies.

When Gwendolyn approached, Cedrick reached out and took Zendaya from her hands, comforting the

baby while asking, “What took you so long? Did something happen?”

Gwendolyn's expression turned grim, and there was a hint of complexity in her eyes. “It seems

Grandpa is really sick. He's not feeling well. Logan mentioned that he hasn't been able to get out of bed

since his afternoon nap. I'm not sure if it's a cold or something else, but he doesn't seem healthy.”

Cedrick pursed his lips and lowered his head, remaining silent as he focused on comforting Zendaya in

his arms.

Gwendolyn continued, “Before bringing Benny and Zendy with me, I went to Grandpa's bedroom to

check on him. He's definitely sick.”

Cedrick maintained a stoic expression. “Perhaps he's aware that I'm going to confront Yael, and he's

worried about his son.”

Gwendolyn fell silent.

Cedrick held the baby with one hand, freeing his other hand to embrace his wife. “All right, it's getting

late. Benny and Zendy should go to bed soon. Let's head back to Harrick Villa.”

Gwendolyn nodded, allowing him to wrap his arm around her shoulder as they headed back to Harrick

Villa.

After taking a few steps, Cedrick turned back and instructed Elven. “Grandpa is getting older, and his

health is declining. Starting tomorrow, choose half of the elite doctors from the Jenson family's medical

team and have them stay at Grandpa's villa. They will serve as his personal physicians, taking care of

his health around the clock. Once they arrive, have Logan arrange their accommodations. He will

handle it.”

Elven responded, “Got it, Mr. Jenson.”

In the following two days, Cedrick carried out a comprehensive purge within Federal Bureau of

Investigation. From team leaders to janitors, he ordered a review of their information and records.

Individuals with suspicious intentions were promptly identified and removed from their positions.

With that, Cedrick completely uprooted all the spies Valentino had previously placed in the bureau.

In addition to that, Cedrick was also preparing for the ancestral hall grand assembly on the third day.

Yael went from being held in a solitary cell to being placed in a shared cell. He was interrogated

multiple times by Neville, who tried various methods to extract detailed information about the incident

from him.

Finally, Neville handed over a complete confession statement to Cedrick.

According to the report, Yael confessed to the premeditated nature of the car accident.

He admitted that the collision with the luxury car driven by Cedrick's parents was not an accident, as he

intentionally took a detour, knowing they would pass through that road, to orchestrate the incident.

The alcohol he consumed beforehand was deliberately done to evade legal responsibility, and he even

implicated David, planning to use him as a scapegoat.

To Valentino, the car accident not only brought about the tragic loss of his eldest son and daughter-in-

law but also entangled his other two sons in its aftermath.

On that fateful day, he faced the agonizing choice of having to lose all three of his sons, but he could

not bear to jeopardize his children and their families. Hence, he chose to assist in covering up the truth.

Cedrick harbored no resentment and understood Valentino's decision.

However, understanding his actions did not equate to forgiveness.

That incident robbed him of his parents, depriving him of the chance to experience their love

throughout his life. He vowed to spare no effort in bringing the mastermind to justice.

Lost in his thoughts, Cedrick sat in his office at Federal Bureau of Investigation, meticulously reviewing

the evidence and documentation compiled by Neville. He made a backup copy, intending to disclose it

during the upcoming ancestral hall grand assembly.

“You've done an excellent job on this matter and have been working hard lately. Do you want to go on a

vacation? I can give you some time off,” Cedrick offered.

Neville's face beamed with a smile.

He scratched the back of his head and responded with slight embarrassment, “I don't need a vacation.

I find fulfillment in contributing to the bureau. Besides, I'm used to spending my leisure time alone, so a

vacation means nothing to me.”

Cedrick inquired, “You're twenty-five this year, right?”

“Yes, Boss. Why do you suddenly ask about my age?” Neville asked.

Cedrick's tone turned sharp. “You're already twenty-five, meaning you're halfway to fifty. Yet, you

haven't settled down or found a partner. Nico and Swain are already in relationships, but here you are,

still single and alone.”

“Halfway to fifty?” Neville knitted his brow. Why does Boss make me feel like being twenty-five is

already considered old?

Cedrick's remark almost gave him the impression that he was edging closer to the grave with each

passing day.
