Chapter 512 The Richest Woman In The World

Chapter 512 The Richest Woman In The World

Charles' long eyelashes covered his blue eyes. He seemed like he had seriously thought about it.

“I like it when lovers end up together. If you two sincerely love one another, then, of course, I'll

wholeheartedly support it. As for typical traditions like engagement gifts, going through the motions will

suffice.”

Treyton met his gaze and absorbed his words.

“Should you intend to take the helm, Charles, all the holding resources of the businesses under my

name will fully support you.”

Both men locked eyes with burning determination in their gazes.

Everyone's lives seemed to be gradually regaining a sense of normalcy.

In the evening, Gwendolyn gave Cedrick a call to tell him she was going to a business gala alone.

Many CEOs of large overseas corporations would be in attendance.

Recently, she had been making plans for the export trade of Harris Group.

The Harris family was currently the richest family in Chanaea, and she, Gwendolyn Shalders Harris,

had become the only woman to rise to the position of the richest person in Chanaea.

Although it could not have been possible without Cedrick's help back then, Gwendolyn's ambition did

not stop there.

She wished to expand Harris Group's trading to other countries. Additionally, she had a greater goal,

which was to become the richest person in the world.

Dovil Group, one of the top three companies in the world, was among those attending the business

gala that night.

She heard that the company was widely inviting tenders for a new collaborative project they had

recently launched, and she was determined to get the spot at the gala.

Cedrick was worried about her going alone. “I'll go with you tonight. I'll put Craig's matter aside and

continue with it tomorrow.”

“That won't be necessary. You've been dealing with Craig's case for so long, so it's best to get an

outcome as quickly as possible. Besides, I'll keep my distance from other men and avoid anything that

suggests cheating.”

Her tone grew colder as she spoke.

Even though she did not make a big deal about what had happened previously, this distrust was like a

tiny fishbone lodged in her throat that she could not remove.

Every time she recalled it, she always felt uncomfortable.

The astute Cedrick sensed the shift in her emotions right away.

“Darling, I genuinely have no mistrust for you. I simply... don't trust those men out there.”

Gwendolyn was tired of hearing this same old excuse. “Have you forgotten that I have a black belt in

jiu-jitsu? An average man can't get close to me.”

Cedrick retorted firmly, “This is different. There are many flirtatious men out there. They won't

necessarily subdue you by force. Some will pretend to be weak. In short... there are far too many

dangers outside. It's safer if I accompany you.”

There aren't just pretentious and phony women in this world. Some men are even better at acting andwill catch you off-guard.

Gwendolyn let out a sigh upon hearing his resolute tone. “How about this? I'll go to the gala first while

you settle your work at the Federal Bureau of Investigation. Come over when you're done.”

Since she had presented a relatively reasonable compromise, disagreeing with it would make him

seem unreasonable.

“Very well. We'll do as you say.”

Gwendolyn purposefully left work early after reaching an agreement with Cedrick. She went to the mallnovelbin

and carefully picked out a crimson tassel gown.

The gown accentuated her curves alluringly and made a statement, just like her goal that night.

She intended to outdo everyone else and secure the Dovil Group partnership in Chanaea.

The gala began promptly at half-past seven in the evening at Monarch Hotel.

Gwendolyn exuded a domineering presence in her alluring crimson gown, combined with her flaming

red lips and exquisite makeup. Her beauty was incomparable.

The attendees of the gala were all top CEOs and influential people from upper-class societies both

domestically and abroad. Every contract that they casually negotiated was worth hundreds of millions.

Gwendolyn appeared at the right moment, and the spotlight followed her.

Her beauty drew everyone's attention, with many people gasping and whispering to one another.

Due to Gwendolyn usually not liking to attend such occasions, many big shots from abroad did not

know her name.

The exclamations grew louder when they learned that she was the only woman to rise to the position of

the wealthiest person in Chanaea.

Gwendolyn slowly made her way to the center of the banquet hall with all eyes on her. Terry Jenkins,

the organizer of the business gala, was standing not far from the red carpet and greeted her with

surprise, “I didn't expect you to attend the gala tonight. You look gorgeous, Ms. Harris. I'm both thrilled

and honored.”

“You're too kind, Mr. Jenkins. Tonight's gala is decorated beautifully. It would be a loss for me not to

come and see it,” she replied.

They exchanged words of flattery with smiles on their faces.

A few minutes later, the gala officially began. Terry gave a formal speech on stage, throwing some

personal touches into the mix by introducing Jenkins Group's latest project to all the big shots in the

audience.

His speech came to an end with a warm applause.

Everyone at the gala began to cluster into groups and chat.

Gwendolyn's eyes wandered around the crowd before finally settling on a blonde foreigner.

The handsome man appeared to be in his early thirties, with a mature-looking blonde beard, a high

nose, and attractive features. He exuded the aura of a foreign noble prince.

He was Neal Gray, the current CEO and powerholder of Dovil Group.

Aside from his career, he also had high social standing. He was the Astorian royal family's pure-

blooded heir apparent and the nation's next ruler.

Getting acquainted with someone like him would be extremely advantageous for Gwendolyn's goal to

expand her company's trade overseas.

She grabbed a glass of red wine from the tray of a passing waiter and slowly made her way to Neal.

“Mr. Gray,” she called out softly in a pleasant voice, her lips curled into a kind and friendly smile.

Neal stopped conversing with the person in front of him when he heard that.

He had noticed her grand entrance earlier and had liked seeing such a beautiful CEO with a

flamboyant personality and outstanding abilities.

Moreover, Gwendolyn had addressed him as Mr. Gray, which made it easier for them to get close.

“How should I address you, miss?” Neal asked. His voice was exceptionally even despite his relatively

poor Chanaean.

Gwendolyn smiled in response. “In business, everyone prefers to call me Ms. Harris. Please feel free to

address me as such, Mr. Gray.”

“Ms. Harris?” Neal was surprised. “You say it with such a sweet tone. It's adorable.”

Gwendolyn gave him a pleasant smile.

The two soon fell into a conversation that moved from small talk to discussions on the philosophy of

life. They hit it off wonderfully.

The more Neal looked at her, the more he liked her.

Their conversation also grew spontaneous and comfortable.

After deciding that they had had enough small talk, Gwendolyn skillfully steered the topic to work.

“I heard you broke away from the royal family back then and went out on your own to found Dovil

Group, Mr. Gray. How impressive that it's now one of the top three companies in the world.”

Although Neal was used to hearing this kind of praise, hearing it from Gwendolyn during their engaging

conversation in her charming voice made his heart skip a beat.

He lowered his head, looking slightly embarrassed. “As soon as I met you tonight, I felt an exceptional

sense of familiarity. I had a great time talking with you. I wonder if you're still single now, Ms. Harris?”

Cedrick, who had just hurried over from the Federal Bureau of Investigation and was heading their way

after searching for Gwendolyn in the vast banquet hall, happened to hear Neal's last sentence.
