Chapter 508 Treyton Became Her Husband

Gwendolyn lost herself in her memories.

The orphanage... My in-laws... Why does everything seem familiar?

Dubious, she returned to Jennifer's side and held the latter's hand that was not hooked up to the IV

drip. “Jennifer, do you still remember what's your family name?”

Jennifer weakly curled her lips before gazing at Gwendolyn gently.

“What's the matter? How can | not remember what's my family name? When | was taken in by the

orphanage director at Fairlake, she decided to name me Jennifer, and she gave me her family name,

Weller.”

At that, Gwendolyn froze and turned to Treyton.

The man was equally taken aback. He darted off the other bed and grabbed Jennifer's hand before

questioning in disbelief, “What's the matter, Jennifer? You're not a Weller anymore. You're a Newton.

You're the daughter of the Newton family, and your name in the family tree is Elise Newton. Do you still

remember that?”

Jennifer retracted her arm from his grasp and inched closer to Gwendolyn as if she was seeking solace

and security.

Lowering her head, she then apologized, “Mr. Wright, | know you're here to take care of me because of

Gwendolyn, and I'm grateful for that, but you're Gwendolyn's husband. I don't want her to

misunderstand our relationship, so Mr. Wright, please keep a distance from me. Also, please don't say

strange things like these anymore. | really don't understand what you're trying to say.”

“What?”

Gwendolyn and Treyton shared a look, wondering about the same thing.

When did Treyton become my husband? Mr. Wright? Are her memories distorted?

A wave of complex feelings washed over Gwendolyn, and she turned to face Treyton again. “Treyton,

do watch over Jennifer. I'm going to ask Prof. Mallory to come and take a look at her.”

Right as she was about to leave, Jennifer grabbed her hand.

“Gwendolyn, don't. It’s not appropriate for me and your husband to stay in this room alone.”

Gwendolyn was bereft of words.

Treyton's eyes reddened, and it felt as if his heart was pulverized, the pain spreading through his entire

body.

“So you knew that I was around, Jennifer, but you thought | was Kiddo's husband. That's why you werenovelbin

keeping a distance from me. That's why you were ignoring me and giving me the cold shoulder.”

Jennifer turned to look at him in confusion, completely unaffected by the melancholic expression he

bore on his countenance.

All she did was continue holding onto Gwendolyn’s hand tightly to stop the latter from leaving.

There was nothing Gwendolyn could do but sigh. “How about this, Treyton? You should get Prof.

Mallory instead. I'll watch over Jennifer.”

“Okay,” Treyton quietly answered before lowering his bloodshot eyes and turning to leave.

Once he was gone, Jennifer immediately moved closer to Gwendolyn and said with a tinge of worry in

her voice, “Gwendolyn, it feels like Mr. Wright is looking at me strangely all the time, but don't worry, |

won't bear any feelings for him. It must be tough for the two of you to take care of me while I'm sick. I'm

grateful for that. Thank you, Gwendolyn.”

Gwendolyn remained silent, uncertain of how to respond.

The corners of her lips twitched, but as Joshua had yet to arrive, she guessed it would be better for her

to keep Jennifer calm first.

With a smile, she said, “It’s nothing. It's my duty.”

A few minutes later, Joshua came.

He was wearing a medical face mask, and he promptly said to Jennifer, “Don't worry. I'm your doctor,

and | have some things | need to ask you about. You just need to answer me honestly.”

Jennifer worriedly turned to Gwendolyn, but Gwendolyn smiled at her to put her at ease.

Thus, she nodded at Joshua.

Taking out her medical record, Joshua started scribbling on it as he asked, “Ms. Newton, may | know if

you—”

Jennifer cut him off, “Doctor, my family name is Weller.”

“Of course, Ms. Weller,” Joshua agreed with a smile. Pointing at Gwendolyn calmly, he continued,

“Who is she to you?”

“She's Gwendolyn, my only friend. She was taken away from the orphanage by Old Mr. Wright when

she was fifteen, but we've been keeping close contact all these years.”

“How old is she now?” Joshua probed.

Jennifer ruminated for a while before replying, “Twenty.”

Hearing that, Gwendolyn and Treyton frowned.

Gwendolyn was already twenty-four and a mother of two.

Once Joshua recorded that, he continued querying, “Then, Ms.

Weller, how old are you this year?”

“Twenty-one.”

After noting that down as well, Joshua pointed at Treyton and asked, “What is his name?”

Jennifer shook her head. “I've never seen him before, and | don't know his name, but he's the one

taking care of me lately. He's Gwendolyn's newlywed husband.”

The questions went on for almost half an hour. The more Treyton listened, the dimmer the light of hope

in his eyes became.

The serum that Craig injected was far too strong. Jennifer's mind was permanently damaged.

Her memories were trapped back in time when everyone in the orphanage disliked her because she

was too old and sick. No one wanted her to leech off the orphanage, and the new director soon kicked

her out. Gwendolyn was the one who took her in and tried to get enough funds for her illness.

Treyton had not appeared in her life at that time, so he was nothing but a stranger to her now.

When Joshua was done asking her the questions, he pulled Gwendolyn and Treyton out to the corridor

for a private conversation.

“Her case is a little special. For now, we don't have any ways to recover her memories of the past few

years. My suggestion for you is to talk about what happened the last few years with her as often as you

can so that you can inform her about her personal connections.”

“Okay. Thank you,” Gwendolyn said.

Joshua gave her a small smile. “It’s nothing.”

After that, Gwendolyn remained in Jennifer's ward and patiently explained everything to the latter.

It took her a while to make Jennifer accept that she was already twenty-five and that she had lost her

memories of the past four years because of some incidents.

“Jennifer, I'm a Harris, and I'm the current head of the Harris family. My husband is Cedrick, and he’s

the head of the Jenson family, the CEO of Jenson Group, and the boss of the Federal Bureau of

Investigation.”

Then, Gwendolyn pointed at Treyton and said, “This man is Treyton Harris. He's my brother and the

third son of the family.

You're a couple who have been dating for a year. That's why he's been taking care of you.”

When Jennifer heard that Treyton was her boyfriend, she discreetly glanced at Treyton from the corner

of her eyes. It was only then she finally got a clear glimpse at his good looks.

Jennifer, who had lost her memories, felt like an ugly duckling who abruptly woke among swans, and

one of the beautiful swans was even her boyfriend.

It felt odd.

“Gwendolyn, what about me?”

“The Newton family found you not too long ago and announced your identity as their daughter. You're

now the fifth child of the Newton family, Jennifer Newton, but you're also known as Elise Newton.

You're an actress, but you debuted on my company's talent show and became an idol. You even

received the Best Actress Award at an award show last year, and you're a top star in the entertainment

industry.”

Jennifer was stunned, for becoming a top star was something she never dared dream of.

“Oh my God... And this happened in a few years' time? Am | that capable? You're not pulling my leg,

are you, Gwendolyn?”

Gwendolyn caressed Jennifer's cheek before taking out her phone to show the latter some of her old

news.

It was best if Jennifer were to see it for herself, for that was the best way to convince her.

Overwhelmed by the deluge of information, Jennifer's mind reached its capacity, and she eventually

succumbed to exhaustion, drifting into a deep slumber much earlier than usual.

Treyton remained by her bedside, never once leaving her.

Joshua came by again, and he informed them that Jennifer's vital signs had all returned to normal. All

they needed to do was observe her for a few more days before she could leave the lab and resume her

normal life.

In the evening, Gwendolyn left the lab.

When she walked toward the open-air parking lot, a familiar tall figure approached her from the

opposite direction.

Upon lifting her head, she was surprised to find out that it was not Cedrick who came to pick her up, but

Charles.
