Chapter 397

Gwendolyn giggled as she extended her right hand, offering Cedrick her slender and fair fingertips.

“Have you thought it through? You can’t regret it afterward. If you dare to let me down in the future, I

won’t spare you.”

“Okay. I’ll have the Lego pieces and ruler ready for you any time.”

Cedrick managed to make Gwendolyn laugh. Her sorrowful mood from half an hour ago dissipated

completely after his gentle efforts moved her.

It was so sweet that Gwendolyn couldn’t help grinning from ear to ear.

Cedrick held her hand and put the ring on her finger decisively. Imitating the way she spoke, he said,

“Now that you are wearing my diamond ring, you belong to me. You won’t be able to escape from me in

this lifetime, Gwenny.”

He turned her hand around and kissed the back of it gently. Then, he stood up and carried her in his

arms.

“Wait.”

Gwendolyn shifted her gaze to the green roses under the tree. “Such beautiful flowers shouldn’t go to

waste. Ask the bodyguards to trim them and put them in vases. Let’s place a few vases in each room,

okay?”

“As you wish.”

He lowered his head to kiss her before going back into the villa.

“Why did you think of displaying green roses?” Gwendolyn continued asking. “I thought you dislike the

color green. This is the first time I’ve seen someone propose with flowers of this shade.”

“Green roses are unique, just like you are. They symbolize evergreen love. However…”

Cedrick leaned closer to her ear as he continued, “The main reason is that you like the color green.”

His hoarse voice sounded incredibly alluring.

Gwendolyn couldn’t help but kiss him. As their breaths entangled, they got carried away by their love

for each other.

For all Gwendolyn cared, the recent mess about inheritance rights, paternity tests, and illegitimate

daughters could be dealt with the next day.

That night, Gwendolyn slept soundly in Cedrick’s embrace.

Gwendolyn was awakened by a kiss when dawn arrived the next day.

As she opened her eyes in a daze, she saw Cedrick’s dark eyes glinting with excitement. He had a

mysterious expression on his face as he stared at her.

“What’s the matter with you now?”

Nuzzling her nose, he replied, “Gwenny, there is actually another small surprise for you besides last

night’s proposal.”

“There’s more?”

“Yes,” he murmured lightly in his charismatic voice by her ear. “Open your phone and check the news.”

Still groggy from sleeping, Gwendolyn reluctantly reached for her phone.

However, the moment she saw the news, her drowsiness instantly vanished. She sat up from the bed

immediately.

Cedrick had transferred all his assets, properties, and shares to her.

Overnight, she rose to the top of the rich list in Chanaea, becoming the only female to make it on the

list.

She also received a notification on her bank card of a massive transfer from Cedrick.

The entire nation’s netizens were shocked by Cedrick’s astonishing gesture of doting on his wife. All

the ten top trending topics were related to them.

“Why… Why did you…” Gwendolyn was so touched that she nearly burst into tears again.novelbin

However, she was more concerned than touched. “Do you know what it means to give all of your

shares in Jenson Group? This is not a simple matter, Cedrick! You should have discussed it with me

first!”

Gwendolyn sounded fierce because she was worried.

Biting his lower lip, Cedrick lowered his head as if admitting his mistake.

Then, as he nestled himself into her arms, he muttered, “I am left with nothing now, Gwenny. I don’t

even have a penny left. Do you still want me?”

Gwendolyn sighed as she caressed his face feeling grateful and sorry for him at the same time. As she

spoke, she slightly choked.

“I already accepted your proposal last night. How can I not want you? But… Is this really worth it?”

Cedrick tightened his arms around her waist and spoke with satisfaction. “Yes, it’s worth it. You are now

the wealthiest woman in Chanaea. Even if you are really a criminal’s illegitimate daughter, no one will

dare to question you. Moreover, my woman deserves the best things in the world.”

Instantly, Gwendolyn’s eyes reddened, and tears streamed uncontrollably down her face.

Words couldn’t express how grateful she was to him.

Back when Cedrick was disguised as Maverick, she used to think that falling in love with him was the

greatest misfortune of her life.

Who would have guessed that he would turn out to be the only fortune of her life?

When she was at her most desperate, he was willing to give everything to her. Perhaps that was the

most beautiful declaration of love in the world.

As Gwendolyn held him tightly, she listened to his steady heartbeat and savored the sense of security

he provided.

Knock! Knock!

The warm atmosphere was interrupted by a knocking sound.

Nico was standing at the door.

“The paternity test result is out, Cedrick.” Nico’s voice was low, his mood seemingly not so good.

Cedrick immediately became serious and got out of bed. After opening the door, he took the paternity

test report from Nico and read it first.

After reading it, his expression turned grim. “Are you sure that you delivered Gwenny and Pierre’s hair

to the hospital personally?” he asked in a serious tone.

Nico nodded cautiously. “Yes, I personally sent them to Grand Valley Hospital, the most authoritative

hospital in the city. Under the order of the Federal Bureau of Investigation, Alban personally conducted

the test.”

Cedrick fell into silence. After pondering for a while, he said, “You can go downstairs for now.”

Nico nodded tactfully and left.

Gwendolyn remained on the bed because she was still in her sleepwear.

Looking at Cedrick standing by the door, she said, “Let me see it, Ceddy. Whatever the result is, I’ll

accept it.”

Cedrick hesitated for a moment, but he handed her the paternity test report in the end.

Gwendolyn took it and flipped directly to the last page.

The words “father-daughter relationship” were painful to read for her, and there was Alban’s fingerprint

again.

“I think there’s something fishy about this, Gwenny. Don’t believe the test results just yet. Marcus had

never doubted your identity in all the years that you’ve been at the Harris residence. He doted on you

so much, so why did he suddenly decide to do a paternity test at this critical moment? Someone must

have told him to do it.”

Cedrick continued, “Besides, even Marcus himself was unaware of this. Yet, some people seem to be

well-informed about these past events despite being younger than you. Can it be that someone is

manipulating things behind the scenes? Firstly, Marcus got into trouble, then your identity as a

criminal’s biological daughter was exposed. All of this happened just a day before the signing of

inheritance rights, subjecting you to one blow after another. At first glance, these incidents may appear

logical, but upon closer examination, they seem to be far too coincidental and deliberate! These

incidents, when viewed together, give me a sense that the perpetrator is running out of time and has no

choice but to resort to such tactics.”

Gwendolyn listened quietly. Frowning slightly, she stared at the official seal of Grand Valley Hospital on

the paternity test report.

Cedrick noticed the expression on her face when she looked at the report as he added, “Although this

report was personally issued by Alban, I don’t think we can fully trust it. How about we call Kieran and

ask him to carry out the test personally?”
