Chapter 378

“Okay. Let’s head back.” Gwendolyn did not ask any questions and intended to talk after getting back.

She supported Cedrick’s arm and helped him limp away from Mount Tranquil.

Gwendolyn instantly undressed him once they were back at Harrick Villa.

Gwendolyn did not see it at first, but she noticed that Cedrick had changed into a new suit in Kieran’s

old room after she took off his clothes. Cedrick’s suit was a style that Kieran liked, and it was also

brand-new.

Moreover, he smelled nice. Did he take a bath in Kieran’s bathroom?

Gwendolyn’s heart skipped a beat, and she became more confused about what her brothers had done

to Cedrick.

“Where did he hit you? Why do you not have any bruises? Kieran wouldn’t have performed

acupuncture on you or poisoned you, would he?

Cedrick was utterly worn out and in a miserable state. He let her have her way, as he was too helpless

to stop her.

After experiencing the excruciating labor pain for an hour and a half, Cedrick used every last bit of his

strength to copy the book, Precepts for Men, while enduring the pain.

He finally understood why it was necessary for women to rest in bed for a month after giving birth.

It was simply too painful.

However, Cedrick had to walk home out of his pride as a man.

Gwendolyn examined his whole body but could not find any injuries. Yet, Cedrick appeared worn out

and weak.

Already worried sick, Gwendolyn gently tapped on his cheek to jolt him awake.

“Don’t go to sleep yet, Ceddy. What exactly happened?” she asked.

The corners of Cedrick’s mouth twitched faintly, and he clasped her hand. He muttered, “He just… let

me experience labor pain beforehand.”

Gwendolyn’s face fell. “Kieran got you to endure the labor pain and also write Precepts for Men?”

“Yeah…”

Gwendolyn fell silent. This savage method was exactly what Kieran would do.novelbin

However, she released a sigh of relief knowing what had happened.

Gwendolyn had actually planned to make Cedrick feel labor pain before giving birth, even if her

brothers did not do this.

After all, she had never been pregnant before. Being inexperienced, Gwendolyn felt somewhat uneasy

as she was afraid of the pain.

“How are you feeling, Ceddy?” she inquired.

“It’s painful. Thank you for all that you’ve done.” Cedrick snuggled into her arms and placed his head

on her lap while avoiding her tummy.

Gwendolyn was momentarily at a loss for words.

Feeling a little nervous, Gwendolyn’s fingers brushed past his cheek. “What should I do, then? I’ll

probably pass out halfway through giving birth if even you’re in such pain.”

Cedrick’s eyelids were heavy. However, he did not know much since he was not a doctor. Cedrick

could only force himself to stay awake and reassured, “I’ll be there for you. I can go through labor pain

again and endure it beside you on the day of delivery.”

Okay. I feel much more at ease with him enduring the pain alongside me.

“Ceddy, you’re the best!” Gwendolyn leaned over and planted a kiss on his forehead.

She then helped him change into his pajamas. Just when she was about to wrap her arms around

Cedrick and go to sleep, the phone on the bedside table rang.

It was Ezra.

“Ms. Shalders, the delivery person just came and delivered a parcel from abroad. I’ve brought it in and

placed it on the coffee table in the living room.”

“A parcel from abroad this late at night?”

Gwendolyn turned it over in her mind for a moment, and she was sure had not bought anything online

recently.

Ezra answered, “Yes. It was expedited and shipped by air from Tayhaven. The sender is Mr. Charles

Newton.”

“All right. Got it.”

Gwendolyn quickly ended the call.

Charles sent something over unexpectedly. Is it something important? I wonder how he’s doing over

there in Tayhaven.

As her thoughts raced, Gwendolyn cautiously turned her head to look at Cedrick.

Cedrick was resting his head on her arm and looking at her with a somewhat resentful expression.

“Gwenny, do you want to go downstairs and see the gift Charles sent you?”

“Um… Can I?” she asked in return.

Cedrick’s face fell completely.

He got out of Gwendolyn’s arms and turned away from her. He muttered with a tinge of jealousy in his

tone, “It’s not for me anyway. Go ahead and take a look if you want to.”

Gwendolyn was at a loss for words, and she poked his back with her finger probingly. “Are you upset?”

“No. I’m just feeling despondent. You don’t have time to console your soon-to-be husband because

you’re too busy reminiscing about your old friend.”

Hearing this, Gwendolyn clicked her tongue twice. “Ceddy, you are reeking of jealousy. You must be

jealous.”

Without saying anything, Cedrick lightly furrowed his brows. He closed his eyes, fuming alone.

“Be good, and stop being jealous. How can a delivery be as important as you? I’ll open it tomorrow.

Besides, Cedoggy, you’ve had a hard day today. Of course, I would soothe you to sleep.”

Gwendolyn’s voice was sweet and gentle, as she patted Cedrick’s shoulder gently to comfort him.

Cedrick felt much better after being soothed. He turned over in satisfaction and rested in her embrace.

Just then, Cedrick suddenly realized something was off in her words.

“Wait. Did you call me Cedoggy?”

He received a quick peck from Gwendolyn. “No. I didn’t enunciate it well. You heard wrong. I said

Ceddy.”

That’s more like it.

Cedrick embraced her tightly once more, and he rapidly drifted off to sleep.

That night, both of them had a good night’s sleep.

The next morning, Gwendolyn went downstairs to open the parcel.

It contained local specialties from Tayhaven that Charles sent for her to try because it was the New

Year.

Charles had carefully chosen the products, and they were healthy organic snacks suited and good for

pregnant women.

The parcel also contained a letter. Gwendolyn opened it and read it carefully.

Cedrick slowly descended the stairs while holding the railing. He could see Gwendolyn attentively

reading the letter from a distance.

“What did he say?” he asked rather awkwardly.

“Charles said that Tayhaven is lagging behind culturally, so therefore he became a teacher in a

mountainous region. He’s leading a fulfilling and contented life there. Charles mentioned that he might

not be able to come back to celebrate when our baby is born in the future, but he will definitely send a

gift.”

“That’s it?”

“Yes. That’s all.”

Cedrick was not convinced. “Didn’t he say anything cheesy like he misses you or he dreamt about

you?”

Gwendolyn placed the letter away and explained calmly, “No. He knows not to cross the line.”

Cedrick reluctantly took her words for it, and he did not press any further. He then went to the kitchen to

make breakfast for Gwendolyn.

Gwendolyn took advantage of this window of opportunity to write a reply. She informed Charles about

her upcoming wedding. She also casually tucked two packets of homemade barbeque seasoning as a

New Year gift and asked Ezra to send it back using the mailing address.”

After breakfast, the two of them went to Asher’s villa to set the wedding date.

It was scheduled to take place a month from now.

Cedrick took the initiative to plan the wedding. He even set aside his work to focus on the preparations

to give Gwendolyn the best wedding.

Hence, Gwendolyn did not handle any of the wedding preparations.

After New Year, she just focused on her work and took care of herself. She was in great health besides

the morning sickness and required longer sleep hours.

Soon, spring arrived, and Gwendolyn hastily her finished breakfast. As she responded to her

messages, she walked to the entrance to put on her shoes.

Cedrick hugged her from behind and sheepishly placed his chin on her shoulder. He looked rather

unhappy.

“Gwenny, you’ve been busy all day long.” He felt like a wife waiting for her husband to come home

because Gwendolyn had not been spending enough time with him.
