Chapter 369

Being a light and skinny girl, Summer could only dangle her legs relentlessly in the air. Alas, her efforts

proved to be futile as she failed to escape the man’s monstrous grip.

Nico hurried over to the trio and rubbed his hand nervously as he explained in a timid tone, “Boss, I…

was just joking around with her…”

Cedrick fixed his gaze on Nico and said with controlled anger, “Take your little companion away! If you

mistreat her, causing her to seek refuge with Gwendolyn again, I shall see to it that you suffer the

consequences under military law!”

“Please don’t! I won’t do it again!”

He even mentioned military law. It looks like he must really be angry. Nico cowered in the face of the

man’s authority and obediently took Summer from Cedrick’s grasp, carrying her in his arms.

Summer pouted as she wrapped her arms around his neck. She glared at him and warned, “Did you

hear that? I have someone backing me up now. If you dare to say you don’t want me again, Mr. Jenson

will punish you with the whip!”

Both Nico and Cedrick were at a loss for words, while Gwendolyn cupped her hand over her lips and

chuckled.

What a sly little fox. She took this opportunity to gain support. It seems like we’re pretty similar in some

ways. Nico is a dummy toward romance. It looks like he’ll be under her thumb in the future.

Gwendolyn approached Nico and Summer and gently tapped the latter’s nose. She corrected the

young girl, saying, “That’s not what the whip is used for. You should be careful with what you say. The

way you put it makes it sound rather suggestive.”

“Suggestive? Are you referring to the romantic acts between couples?”

Summer pondered over it momentarily before glancing at Cedrick and Gwendolyn. A sly grin played on

her lips as she said, “I heard Nico say that you’re more impressive than Mr. Jenson, Gwendolyn. In that

case, do you punish Mr. Jenson with a whip as well?”

This time, it was Cedrick and Gwendolyn who were rendered speechless, while Nico tried his very best

to avoid laughing out loud.

“Let’s go. Why can’t you keep your mouth shut? If you say any more, Boss will get angry and teach you

a lesson!” With Summer in his arms, Nico walked to the car and placed her in the passenger seat.

At that, Gwendolyn’s lips curved into a resigned smile. She grabbed Cedrick’s hand and interlaced their

fingers. “Ceddy, you’re always a good boy. I can’t bear to use the whip to punish you. Isn’t that right?”

Cedrick felt a lot calmer now. He nodded in satisfaction and followed her into the backseat of the car.

It wasn’t long before the four of them began the journey back to the Jenson residence.

Along the way, Summer chattered away and told some dad jokes to lighten the atmosphere.

The group went through the winding paths leading to Harrick Villa. Before they arrived at the entrance,

however, they noticed a graceful figure waiting outside, leisurely strolling back and forth.

Gwendolyn was the first to notice her. With a single glance, Gwendolyn could tell that the woman’s skin

was well taken care of, to the extent that she did not look her age. The woman wore branded clothing

and exuded an air of elegance. Nevertheless, it was an unfamiliar face that Gwendolyn had never seen

before.

As for the woman, she smiled and fixed her gaze on Cedrick when she noticed the group of people.

“Long time no see, Ced,” she uttered, walking toward them.

Gwendolyn knitted her brows upon hearing the affectionate form of address the woman had for

Cedrick. She wanted to let go of his hand, but his grip remained firm.

He was also looking at the woman, and right then, his expression turned into one of surprise when he

recognized her. “Aunt Tania.”

Gwendolyn was utterly taken aback. Aunt Tania?

Valentino’s youngest daughter, Tania Jenson, was thirty-something years old and still unmarried. She

often resided overseas, but her presence there indicated that she was home for the upcoming holidays.

Gwendolyn couldn’t help but feel a tad awkward when the woman’s identity was revealed. Despite

being Cedrick’s aunt, Tania appeared youthful and attractive, leading Gwendolyn to assume that she

was yet another woman that Cedrick had seduced.

Cedrick took a step forward and introduced Gwendolyn, “Aunt Tania, this is my fiancée, Gwendolyn

Shalders Harris.”

Gwendolyn smiled as she greeted politely, “Nice to meet you, Aunt Tania.”

Only then did Tania turn to look at Gwendolyn. Her gaze hardened, clearly showing her displeasure.

“You? You’re Ced’s fiancée?”

Confused by the woman’s words, Gwendolyn exchanged glances with Cedrick, neither of them

understanding what Tania meant.

“I’ve always been Ceddy’s fiancée. That has never changed. What did you hear for you to say that,

Aunt Tania?”

“Not too long ago, the princess of Erihal hosted a charity gala at the palace. You caused a scene and

stole the spotlight there. Perhaps you didn’t notice, but I was also present,” said Tania, the look on her

face icy.

Gwendolyn’s expression froze at Tania’s words.

If Aunt Tania was at the charity gala, she must know about my wedding with Charles. No wonder she

has a bad impression of me.

“I can explain—”

Gwendolyn wanted to clarify the situation, but Tania retracted her gaze and pulled on Cedrick’s arm,

urging him to follow her. “Come with me. There’s something I need to discuss with you.”

With that, Tania dragged him away.

Gwendolyn watched as the two of them retreated to a quiet corner to converse. She lowered her gaze,

looking rather dejected.

Nico noticed the change in her emotions. He approached her and tried to console her, saying, “Rest

assured, Ms. Harris. While she may not fully comprehend the situation and could utter some

unpleasant words to Boss, I have no doubt that he has complete faith in you.”

“I know.”

Gwendolyn could not pinpoint what she was afraid of either. Perhaps I fear that he would develop

suspicions about the child’s paternity after his conversation with his aunt, but there’s no way he’d think

so.

She gently caressed her stomach. Since she was still in the early stages of pregnancy, Gwendolyn

could not feel the baby’s existence, but she had an innate awareness that a new life was growing

inside her womb.

This is mine and Cedrick’s baby!

Nico observed Gwendolyn lost in her thoughts, gently rubbing her stomach. Concerned that she might

be overthinking things, he exchanged a meaningful glance with Summer.

Summer quickly caught onto his signal and approached Gwendolyn, taking hold of her arm. With an

enthusiastic tone, she continued sharing funny jokes to distract Gwendolyn from her thoughts.

The unpleasant thoughts swirling in Gwendolyn’s mind vanished when the young girl started talking to

her. She allowed Summer to link arms with her and lead her inside the villa.

Meanwhile, Tania walked to a quiet corner in the garden with her nephew in tow.

“Aunt Tania, you’ll worry Gwenny with your actions. Our relationship is completely transparent, and I

have no secrets from her. There’s nothing that can’t be discussed in her presence.”

Displeased by his words, she uttered, “Are you reprimanding me?”

Cedrick hung his head and did not respond. His silence was a tacit admittance to Tania’s question.

The woman was livid. However, considering the fact that he was her favorite nephew, she did not scold

him. Instead, she asked, “Don’t you know what Gwendolyn did in Erihal?”

“I know.” Cedrick nodded. The look on his face was calm.

“You knew?” Tania was shocked. “Since you know about it all, why didn’t you cancel your engagement

with her? She went to Erihal to get married to another man and even got pregnant with his child. That

day, at the charity gala, she had morning sickness in public. Every high-ranking noble in the royal

family knows about this. Plus, she and that man were acting all lovey-dovey at the gala. How can you

be with her after knowing all of that?”

Cedrick felt irritated when he heard the words “lovey-dovey.”

Nevertheless, he quickly tamped down his annoyance, and without a change in his expression, uttered,

“You’ve misunderstood, Aunt Tania. Gwenny’s pregnant with my child, and the reason she went to

Erihal was because of me.”

“What?” A confused Tania stared at her nephew in disbelief. “Did you fall and hurt your head? Do you

like that your fiancée cheated on you? I saw for myself what she did at the charity gala. How can it be

fake? She even admitted that the baby belonged to that man. Are you planning to be her rebound?”novelbin

Cedrick was at a loss for words.

That’s my baby. Why would I be Gwenny’s rebound? Even if she were to have a rebound, that person

would’ve been Charles.
