Chapter 362

“Stop guessing. You’ll understand sooner or later.” He tapped Nicole’s head. “Still, I’ve never taken care

of anyone, and I won’t support you for free. If you wish to stay by my side, you’ll have to prove your

worth to me.”

Nicole was slightly taken aback. She mulled over his words seriously.

Taking in her conflicted demeanor, Nico pursed his lips and strode forward.

Not long after, Nicole caught up to him and grasped his arm. “Why don’t you teach me how to fight,

Nico? I can help you kill people in the future. I’ll be your most dependable and capable subordinate!”

Nico was at a loss for words. I’m doing perfectly fine, so why do I need to kill anyone? Did she really

believe me when I told her I was a psychopathic murderer?

“Since you know I’m not a good person, aren’t you afraid of me?”

Nicole’s eyes shone with sincerity when she met his gaze. “All I know is that you saved me. You’re the

first person in this world who is so kind to me. Even if you truly are a bad person, I’m still willing to

follow you and walk down this shady path.”

Nico was stunned. It was the first time he’d heard such words directed at him. Come to think of it, she’s

also the first stranger who has taken the initiative to be kind to me.

As they locked gazes, both Nico and Nicole were able to sense the goodwill they had toward one

another.

“Ceddy!” Gwendolyn’s hysterical shriek sounded from ahead, drawing the duo’s attention.

Cedrick had fainted without warning.

With the last of his strength, he had managed to carry Gwendolyn to the back seat of the car, but he

himself was drained of all energy to get in as he collapsed by the roadside.

Nico immediately ran over to help Cedrick into the car. Then, they headed to the laboratory together

with the Super Antiviral.

Joshua tested the components of the antidote while Kieran carefully examined Cedrick’s body.

Half an hour later, Kieran entered the ward with the lab report.

“How is it, Kieran?” Gwendolyn asked at once.

“His condition is very bad. He has pushed himself to his limits by going to Erihal this time. Now, his

body is on the verge of breaking down. If you hadn’t returned here in time with the antidote, there would

be no cure for him within three days.”

Gwendolyn and Nico exchanged glances, looking solemn.

Kieran handed the lab report to Gwendolyn while scrutinizing her countenance. “Kiddo, you don’t look

well. Did something happen?”

Gwendolyn looked down, trying to keep her expression neutral as she answered, “Perhaps I’m

experiencing jet lag since I just came back. Don’t worry, Kieran. I’m fine.”

Charles had blocked the spread of the news related to her pregnancy at that time. Aside from those

aristocrats at the banquet that day, no one in Chanaea knew about it.

She wondered if Asher would be so enraged he’d want to break her legs when he learned she was

carrying a child and that her marriage with Cedrick was necessitated by an unplanned pregnancy.

“Kieran, rest assured. I’m really fine. Hurry up and check on Prof. Mallory to see if he needs any help.”

Kieran turned around and left without saying anything else.

Joshua was thrilled by the test results of the Super Antiviral. He entered the ward and shared the joy

with Gwendolyn and Nico.

“It’s really a miracle! This medicine is amazing! The fact that you managed to retrieve it will contribute

greatly to our country’s future biochemical experiments!”

Joshua split the medication into different volumes, administered the prescribed dose, and reserved two

milliliters of the antidote for research.

The antidote could only cure the long-standing viruses in Cedrick’s body. It had no curative effect on

the complications brought about by the virus and the various physical overloads.

As his body was too weak and couldn’t handle the effect of potent medication, Joshua divided the dose

into three injections.

Kieran did not stay idle either. While Cedrick was unconscious, he prepared other intravenous drips to

improve other aspects of Cedrick’s health.

This time, Cedrick remained in a coma for a long time, and his body gradually recovered.

Three days after all the antidote was administered, Gwendolyn brought Cedrick back to Harrick Villa. At

that moment, Kieran, Treyton, Nico, Nicole, and Jennifer were all there. The party sat in the living room

and chatted.

Jennifer told Gwendolyn about her background. A week later, the Newtons would host a welcome

banquet for her, and by then, she would officially change her name to “Jennifer Newton.”

Gwendolyn was very happy for Jennifer. She felt everything around her seemed to be progressing well

after her return.

She looked around at everyone. I’m with Cedrick, Treyton is with Jennifer, and Nico is with Nicole.

Everyone is in pairs except for Kieran… “Kieran, look at you. You’re the only one sitting here all alone.

When do you plan to bring back a girl?”

Kieran scanned his surroundings before resting his eyes on the empty seat next to him. The tip of his

ears flushed slightly.

“Mind your own business,” he said to Gwendolyn frostily and got to his feet to care for Cedrick upstairs.

Gwendolyn burst into a giggle as she took in his sheepish demeanor and retreating figure.

Everyone in the living room laughed as well.

Amidst the cheeriness, Elven abruptly knocked on the door. “Ms. Harris, something bad happened!”

Nico went to open the door, and Elven rushed in anxiously. “The princess of Erihal is accusing you of

murdering the groom at the wedding and fleeing back to Chanaea out of guilt. She’s taking you to the

international court, demanding a trial in three days!”

Everyone in the living room fell silent after hearing that. The temperature dropped as the atmosphere

turned heavy.

All of them started discussing strategies.

Treyton, grimacing, was the first to speak. “Charles committed so many heinous acts. His death is his

redemption. All you did was help him, yet Her Highness doesn’t appreciate it.”

Nico lowered his head, hiding a peculiar expression. He sat back down on the couch without saying a

word, trying to minimize his presence.

Nicole, who was staring at him the whole time, noticed the unnatural look in his eyes. Nevertheless,

she remained silent and took a seat beside him.

Hearing the commotion, Kieran descended the stairs. “If she wants a trial, we shall play along to the

end.”

Treyton agreed, “That’s right. Charles was a b*stard child in the first place. If this is revealed, it will

greatly impact the reputation of the royal family. I don’t believe Her Highness would risk the entire royal

family’s image just to put you in jail.”

Gwendolyn’s long eyelashes fluttered slightly as she uttered calmly, “She doesn’t just want to put me in

jail. She wants me to repay Charles’ death with my life.”

Treyton’s fury intensified. “Anyway, you don’t have to be afraid. The Harris family’s legal team is not to

be trifled with. Since she’s not afraid of disgracing the royal family, we shall resist her to the end.”

Gwendolyn gazed downward and didn’t speak further, seemingly lost in thought.

Nico, who had been quiet all along, finally piped up, “If Her Highness dares to take this to the

international court, she must have what she believes is solid evidence. Boss is still unconscious. If he

were awake, this matter would be easily resolved.”

Kieran, wearing a poker face, sat down on the side couch. “Cedrick is still recuperating. You can’t rely

on him.”

Nico didn’t respond.

He hesitated to say something a few times but ultimately lowered his head and didn’t utter a word.

An eerie silence filled the air in the living room.novelbin

They would have to attend the international court in three days, so they only had limited time to

prepare. Her Highness must be exploiting this to her advantage and aiming to catch us off guard.
