Chapter 356

While speaking, Nico and Nicole walked out of the dungeon and got into a car.

Soon, they arrived at the duke’s residence.

The moment Nico got out of the car, he spotted a familiar tall figure at the entrance.

The man was wearing a black coat. He stood straight, exuding a wave of cold and dignified aura,

seemingly waiting for Nico on purpose.

Although he had a cap and a mask on, Nico could still recognize him at first glance.

His eyes turned red. Forgetting about the wounds on his body, he pounced on the man and wrapped

his arms around him.

Patting his back, the man teased, “It’s only been half a month. Why have you become so soft?”

Nico frowned slightly and did not reply to him. He tightened his grip on the man as though he was

seeking the warmth of an elder brother from him.

Nicole walked over and said, “Don’t be too rough. You’re going to hurt him. His wounds haven’t

recovered yet.”

The man glanced at Nico, then silently withdrew his hand from Nico’s back. “Looks like it’s been a

fruitful trip. You even brought back a cute girl.”

Nicole giggled, while Nico fell silence.

At that moment, Charles was on the way back to Alzer Palace.

Staring at the dark sky outside the car window, Charles ordered Jonah coldly, “Find a way to kill Nico

before he boards the plane tomorrow night and take back the Super Antiviral.”

“B-But he has extremely good fighting skills, and we can’t use guns in public. If we send too many men

over, it’s going to attract the people’s attention. I don’t think our men are a match for him.”

Charles narrowed his eyes. “He has yet to recover. Just do as I say.”

“Got it,” Jonah said from the front passenger seat.

Suddenly, his phone rang.

His expression became tense at once. Turning his head to look at Charles, he said, “Mr. Lund, the

people we sent to the dungeon said that Nico has gone missing!”

Charles furrowed his brows. “Look into it!”

Ten minutes after sending a text message, Jonah received a reply. “Mr. Lund, they couldn’t find him. It’s

as if he has vanished into thin air.”

“He was locked in the dungeon, and on top of that, he was shackled. Are you trying to say that he

magically disappeared?” Charles was furious. “Keep investigating! Find out who has been to the

dungeon today!”

“Mr. Lund, although you can go in and out of the dungeon at will with the special privilege token given

by Her Highness, you don’t have the authority to check the records of who has been there.”

Charles gradually calmed down. “Forget it, then. He doesn’t have the antidote yet, so he won’t leave

Erihal. He’ll surely show up tomorrow!”

Come to think of it, Cedrick is getting closer to death’s door. He isn’t able to hold on much longer. After

tomorrow, everything will probably be over, right?

That night was destined to be a sleepless night for everyone.

The next morning, Gwendolyn was woken up by the housekeepers to wash up and get ready.

Charles had bought her a new set of natural cosmetics, which were of no harm to pregnant women.

Gwendolyn didn’t like others to put on makeup for her, so she put it on herself.

An hour later, Charles arranged for a car to send her to Flola Grand Cathedral.

The cathedral was packed with the high-ranking nobles in the royal family.

Kylie and Caesar were helping Charles to welcome the guests. Gerhardt wasn’t there.

Looking out the car window, Gwendolyn spared an indifferent glance at the lively cathedral. When the

car pulled up at the back door of the cathedral, she went into the lounge that Charles had prepared for

her in advance.

She had only worn the wedding gown. Her hair was not set yet.

The ceremony was starting soon. She went to the table and picked up a comb to tie her hair into a bun.

However, she was stopped when a pair of warm hands held hers.

She looked into the mirror and saw that it was Charles.

She pulled back her hand from his and asked icily, “Why are you here? Aren’t you supposed to

welcome the guests?”

“My mother and Caesar are helping me at the front. I can make some time out to help you do your

hair.” Charles picked up the comb and gently combed her hair.

“You know how to style a woman’s hair?” Gwendolyn was a little surprised.

“I learned from a stylist a few days ago.” Charles smiled dotingly. His blue eyes resembled a galaxy of

stars.

Seeing how serious he was in doing her hair, Gwendolyn sat there in silence and didn’t stop him.

He skillfully styled her hair and helped her wear the veil before fixing the brilliant crystal crown on her

head.

When everything was done, he looked in the mirror and gazed at the peerless beautiful woman,

imprinting her beauty on his mind.

“Gwen, my prettiest bride! I imagined this scene ten years ago. The only thing I don’t regret in these ten

years is falling in love with you.”

Gwendolyn lowered her eyes and didn’t say anything.

A female housekeeper knocked on the door and said, “Ms. Harris, the ceremony will be starting in

fifteen minutes.”

“Okay,” Gwendolyn responded lazily.

Then, she got up to change into a pair of high heels. She had come over in slippers earlier.

“Let me do it.” Charles pressed her shoulders and made her sit again.

He took out a delicate shoe box beside the shoe rack and opened it to reveal a pair of white flats.

Gwendolyn was taken aback a little. “When did you prepare these? Today is your big day. Haven’t you

always wanted a perfect wedding? No bride wears flats at a wedding ceremony.”

Charles went down on one knee and squatted at her feet to help her put on the flats.

“This is our wedding. To me, it’s perfect as long as you’re the bride. I did my research yesterday.

Pregnant women aren’t recommended to wear heels because they’re bad for the baby, so I went out

and bought the flats last night. I didn’t get to tell you about it.”

Gwendolyn stared at him in a daze, slightly overwhelmed with mixed feelings.

If the one he loves is someone who loves him, perhaps he will happy. Sadly…

Lowering her eyes dejectedly, she choked back the inexplicable emotions that had risen in her.

The cathedral was filled with guests. Melodious music from the violin and piano echoed in the air.

Charles entered and walked on the red carpet until he was next to the priest.

Joy was clearly registered on his face. He had never been so happy before.

Then, the music changed.

Gwendolyn appeared at the entrance holding a bouquet. She was wearing a pure white long wedding

gown. Accompanied by the music, she stepped on the carpet and walked over to Charles.

Once she stopped beside the priest, he began, “Mr. Vidar Lund, will you take Ms. Gwendolyn Shalders

Harris as your wife? Will you have and hold her from this day forward, for better or for worse, for richer

or for poorer, in sickness and in health, to love and to cherish, until death?”

Charles fixed his gaze on Gwendolyn, his eyes sparkling.

“I will!” he replied without hesitation.

Watching them from the front row, Kylie took a tissue and wiped away her tears of happiness.

On the stage, the priest turned to look at Gwendolyn.

“Ms. Gwendolyn Shalders Harris, will you take Mr. Vidar Lund as your husband? Will you have and

hold him from this day forward, for better or for worse, for richer or for poorer, in sickness and in health,

to love and to cherish, until death?”

Gwendolyn lowered her head and fell into a long silence. She didn’t look at Charles, nor did she make

any response.

The priest was feeling a little confused. The present guests exchanged glances with one another, and

the atmosphere turned slightly strange.

“Gwen, you have to reply,” Charles called her softly and gave her a look that reminded her of the

antidote.

“Ms. Gwendolyn Shalders Harris, will you take Mr. Vidar Lund as your husband?” the priest asked

again.novelbin

Taking a deep breath, Gwendolyn closed her eyes and spoke against her conscience. “I—”

“She won’t!” A man’s cold and deep voice rang out from outside the cathedral right then.
