Chapter 334

Chapter 334 Ugly Nico

Gwendolyn was slightly stunned. It’s not like I came specifically to meet with my future mother–in–law.

Why do I have to dress fancily?

As she still needed to deal with Charles, she replied aggrievedly, “I didn’t bring a lot of clothes with me

during this trip, and none of them are more appropriate than what I’m already wearing.”

The disappointment in Charles‘ eyes gradually transformed into regret when he heard her explanation.

“I’m sorry. It was my oversight. I should’ve prepared an appropriate dress for you beforehand. Please

don’t get angry at me, Gwen. It won’t happen again.”

Gwendolyn shifted her sight away. (It’s fine. You don’t need to apologize.”

“Let’s go. We’ll head in first and stroll around. I’ll get someone to send a dress here before noon. After

that, we’ll have lunch at Mother’s place.” Looking rather obsessive while smiling at Gwendolyn, Charles

tried to

hold her hand.

Before he could, she furrowed her eyebrows and reflexively avoided him.

That action provoked Charles immensely as he stepped forward and gripped her chin. “We’re about to

get married, so why are you still resisting me? Why is Cedrick allowed to princess carry you and kiss

you in public, but I can’t even hold your hand?”

“We’re not married yet, so we’re not a couple. What made you think you had the right to hold my hand

in public?” Gwendolyn stared back at him firmly.

Nico, who was exiting the vehicle, witnessed that scene and promptly bolted forward to grab Charles‘

wrist. “Let her go! Don’t hurt my employer!”

In response, Charles released Gwendolyn’s chin, though his wrist was still tightly clutched by Nico. He

tried flinging the latter’s hand away twice, though he failed both times. “Are you the bodyguard Gwen

brought here this time?”

Nico was in an ugly disguise today. There was a large red birthmark on his left cheek and a giant mole

on the edge of his right eye. Additionally, his face was covered in red spots, and his nose was

highlighted with makeup.

The deception was’successful as Charles didn’t recognize him.

While being scrutinized by Charles, Nico calmly replied, “Yes, Mr. Lund. I’m Christian Harris, Ms. Harris‘

bodyguard.”

Charles glanced at Nico one more time before turning away as though he couldn’t bear looking at the

latter’s hideous countenance a second longer.

Skeptically he turned to Gwendolyn. “You’ve always had high standards for your bodyguards‘

appearances. When did you change that standard and hire such a hideous one?”

In response, Gwendolyn glimpsed at Nico. He did go a little too far with the ugliness. “His actual

appearance isn’t that ugly. He just isn’t acclimated to the climate here, which is why there are red spots

on his face. While he’s not attractive, he has a good figure and is quite skilled. Don’t underestimate

him.”

Ignoring Nico’s face, Charles swept his gaze past the former’s body. “His proportions are fine, though

his figure isn’t anything special. Besides, you have never seen him with his shirt off before. Maybe he

doesn’t even have a six–pack.”

While the two were chatting, Nico lowered his head, slightly embarrassed.

Covertly, he touched his abdomen and sighed. Thank goodness Boss isn’t here. If he learns Ms.Gwendolyn praised me for having a good figure, he’ll get incredibly jealous. Then, he’ll send mesomewhere super far away to mine for coal or something, ensuring Ms. Gwendolyn will never see me

again.

Seeing that Charles was focusing wholly on Nico, Gwendolyn changed the topic. “I’m tired of standing

around. Let’s go.”

Before Charles could react to that, she strode away to avoid being grabbed by him again.

Nico swiftly followed her.

Epean buildings were primarily painted in white and gold, appearing solemnly dignified, and the walls

were dominated by tile murals. They were completely different from the Chanaean architectural style.

As Charles led Gwendolyn down the path, he explained what they were looking at.

“My mother granted me special privileges. So, aside from the king’s bed–chamber, study, conference

hall, and a few other locations, you’re free to enter any place you wish,” informed Charles.

Gwendolyn raised her eyebrow with curiosity. “I want to visit the king’s bed–chamber, though. I wonder

if his bed is any different from ours.”

A serious look appeared in his eyes. “Stop joking, Gwen.”

“Fine. I won’t go then. I’m a little tired, and I want to rest.”

“I’ll take you to Alzer Palace. It’s where I’ve been staying recently. I’ll ask someone to send the dress

there.”

She nodded while glancing at Nico.

Immediately, Nico furrowed his eyebrows and clutched his abdomen in agony. “Ms. Harris, Mr. Lund,

my stomach’s in pain. Can I visit the restroom?”

“I wouldn’t have brought you with me today if I knew you were having difficulty acclimating to this place.

Just return quickly,” stated Gwendolyn.

“Okay, Ms. Harris.”,

“Wait! Stop!” Charles exclaimed just as Nico turned his head,

As Nico pretended to stifle a pain so great that his face reddened like a tomato, he turned his attention

to Charles again. “Mr. Lund?”

Charles narrowed his eyes. “There’s a restroom in Alzer Palace. You can relieve yourself there if you

hold it in a little longer.”

“Eh?” Still pressing his hands on his abdomen, Nico bent down slightly with a wince. “I’m having a

stomachache, and I really can’t hold it in any longer. Please let me visit a restroom nearby, Mr. Lund.

Don’t worry. My job is to protect Ms. Harris, so I’ll return as soon as I’m done.”

Gwendolyn peered at Charles and uttered in a slightly reprimanding tone, “Why are you troubling him?

It’s normal for someone to have a stomachache. It’s not like he’s pretending to be in discomfort.”

Frowning, Charles relented for Gwendolyn’s sake. “Bring him there, Jonah. Keep a close eye on him,

don’t let him get lost. There’ll be trouble if the guards on patrol capture him.”

“Roger,” replied Jonah before guiding Nico to the closest restroom.

Moments later, Gwendolyn sensed Charles‘ attempt to close the distance between them. In response,

she pulled her hand out from her sleeve and reflexively caressed the emerald ring on her finger with a

grimace. “There’s a lot of people in the palace, and I’m technically still engaged to Cedrick. Mind your

manners.”

Knitting his eyebrows, Charles spoke unkindly. “Yeah, you still haven’t canceled your engagement with

him, Gwen. Are you toying with me?”

“I’m not.” Calmly, Gwendolyn explained, “I’m merely protecting the Harris family’s interests. Besides,

you said you wanted to hold a wedding in a foreign country. When we get married, whether my

engagement in Chanaea is canceled or not doesn’t matter.”

“True. I bet Cedrick will be surprised to abruptly learn that you’ve become my woman once we’re

married.” A malicious grin settled on his countenance as excitement danced in his blue eyes. Not only

will I make this wedding big, but I’ll also let the whole world know Gwendolyn’s married to me! Cedrick, especially!

Gwendolyn glared at him with a stern look. “You’d better watch your disgusting mouth, Charles! If I find

out you’ve intentionally used this incident and exaggerated it to provoke Cedrick, I won’t forgive you!”

Even a rabbit would bite when driven to a corner, much less a ferocious leopard like Gwendolyn.

Upon witnessing Gwendolyn’s anger, he comforted her with a smile, “As long as you’re willing to marry

me, I’ll do whatever you want.”

Silently, Gwendolyn marched forward. Soon, the two arrived at Alzer Palace.
