Chapter 325

Chapter 325 If He Dies

However, Gwendolyn’s words were already out in the air. There was no room for regret, so she could

only try to persuade them.

She was so worried that her lower lip, tears rolled down her face. She choked out, “So my life is

important, but Cedrick’s isn’t? He ended up in this condition because of me! If it wasn’t for him, I’d be

the one on the bed right now. How can you be so heartless toward him?”

Hearing that, the three men fell silent.

Out of the three of them, Treyton knew everything that happened in Fairlake the best. Furthermore, he

had talked to Cedrick back at Eloise’s birthday party, and he found himself fond of Cedrick’s honesty.

As a wave of guilt surged in his heart, he rose to his feet and reached out for Gwendolyn. “Kiddo, stand

up first. You need to give Asher and Kieran some time to think about these matters.

Gwendolyn rejected his help.

Asher and Kieran had much time left to contemplate, but Cedrick’s time was running out.

Thus, she remained determined in her stance as she shifted closer to Asher on her knees.

“Cedrick lost his parents at a young age and was raised by the strict Old Mr. Jenson. He grew up in a

very lonely environment. He’s not like me, who learns what love is from my brothers and my parents.

I’ve been surrounded by people who are loving, and I grew up doted on by everyone. That’s why he

cherishes the love that others give to him. He’ll always do everything he can for me without hesitation.

Hence, he’s terrified that I’ll abandon him. When he found out that he didn’t have long to live, he never

thought of guilt–tripping me with the love I had for him. Instead, he was scared that I’d be sad, so he

wanted to slink away to die in a quiet corner alone instead. If I didn’t notice anything amiss, I would’ve

been oblivious to this until now. Asher, Kieran, Treyton, I’ll never meet another man who loves me so

wholeheartedly as he does ever again. If he dies, my heart will follow him to the afterlife. You’ll only

truly be doting on me if you accept him and help him while he’s sick right now. Please have faith in me.

I’m no longer a child, and this time, I’m going to take good care of myself and come back safely with

the supervirus serum. Just think of this as a journey I must go through in life. I won’t let anything

happen to me.”

Kieran and Treyton sighed, moved by her words, and they turned to look at Treyton–the man with the

final say.

Asher lowered his gaze as a complicated look crossed his face. He was quiet for a long while.

“Asher, please!” Gwendolyn squeezed out, the desolation and determination visible on her tear–tracked

face.

When she realized that Asher was still hesitating, she hunched over, about to prostrate herself before

him.

Swiftly, Asher reached out to stop her.

This was the sister he had doted on and spoiled for decades, but there she was, sobbing and pleading

with him in desperation. He had to admit that his determination was wavering.

In the end, Asher relented. “Just do what you want to do without any worry. You have your backing you

up. But we have to agree on one thing–even if you can’t get the serum, you have to come back. Your

safety is of the utmost importance, and I don’t want you risking your life or doing anything

extreme.”

“Asher…”

Gwendolyn hugged him and bawled in his arms, exposing her vulnerable side to him.

The way she was sobbing uncontrollably broke her brothers‘ hearts, and their eyes reddened along

with

hers.

After the bout of crying, Gwendolyn recomposed herself and calmly gave instructions to her brothers.

Treyton then went to the ward to learn how to take care of Cedrick.

At the same time, Kieran went looking for Joshua to go through Cedrick’s medical diagnosis and think

of a way to treat his cycs.

Meanwhile, Asher made arrangements for his men and secretly stationed bodyguards all around

Harrick Villa.

Gwendolyn wiped her tears away and reapplied her makeup. When she came back out of the living

room, she went to Nico.

Even though her makeup was flawless as usual, Nico instantly noticed her bloodshot eyes. It was a

clear sign that she had been crying a while ago.

“Ms. Gwendolyn, please take care of yourself. You’re the reason Mr. Wright is hanging on right now.”

“Don’t worry. I’m not as fragile as you think I am.”

She then instructed Nico, “Once I’m gone, you should move into Harrick Villa too. Take care of him with

Treyton. He’ll definitely be in a bad mood if I’m not around, so help me console him. Also, he probably

can’t work in the Federal Bureau of Investigation for now because he can’t see, so I’ll need your help in

dealing with Craig. Besides my brothers, no one is allowed to see Cedrick during this time. Not even

Old Mr. Jenson.”

Nico blinked in confusion before asking, “Are you planning to head overseas alone to deal with

Charles?”

Not intending to hide that from him, Gwendolyn nodded.

“Then I’m coming along with you. Think of me as your bodyguard. It shouldn’t be an issue,” Nico said

without missing a beat.

Gwendolyn was taken aback by his statement. “You’re not going to stay by Ceddy’s side? I can see

that he thinks of you as a good friend. I’ll only be at ease if you stay here to take care of him.”

“Yes. I think of him as a brother too, but this trip you’re making is far too dangerous. Mr. Wright will only

look forward to the future if you’re alive, so I’m going to keep you safe on his behalf.”

Gwendolyn furrowed her brows and hesitated. “But Ceddy…”

“Don’t worry about him. Mr. Wright will be safe with the Harris brothers. Ms. Harris, please don’t reject

me and let me come with you.”

Ultimately, Gwendolyn gave in and agreed to it.

Once everything was settled, Gwendolyn contacted Charles again and bought two tickets for the

following day to fly to Jadeborough, the capital of Erihal.

At night, when she returned to Cedrick’s ward she found Treyton sitting on the bed at the side, dozing.

Gwendolyn tiptoed into the room, but Treyton was a light sleeper. He woke and told her, “He hasn’t

woken up yet, but he called your name twice earlier. He’s been having a restless sleep.”

“Thank you, Treyton. You should go and rest tonight. I’ll keep vigil.”

Treyton frowned and said, “You have an early flight tomorrow. You should be taking a nap instead of

keeping vigil. I’ll be here, so just go and rest.”

“I can’t sleep. Maybe I’ll be able to fall asleep if I stay here with him.” novelbin

“All right. I won’t disturb you then,” Treyton said before heading out and closing the door behind him.

Cedrick was still sleeping.

Despite his unconscious state, his brows were knitted as if he was struggling with something in his

sleep.

Gwendolyn carefully pulled the blanket up to get under it. After shifting him to let him rest on her arm,

she gently brushed his frown away.

As if he had registered her familiar scent, Cedrick buried himself into her arms, though his frown only

deepened even more.

Brushing the back of his head, Gwendolyn kissed the spot between his brows and whispered, “I’m here

with you. I’ll go to dreamland with you.”

Holding tightly onto the hem of her shirt, he muttered, “Don’t go… Don’t agree to Charles‘ request…

Don’t marry him, Gwenny, don’t…”

“I won’t. You’re the only one I’ll marry, and you’re the only one I’ll love. My name will only appear on our

marriage certificate,” she repeated as she pressed her cheek against his forehead.

Her familiar scent eventually undid the knot between his brows as he drifted off into a calmer slumber.

Still half–leaning against the headboard, Gwendolyn fell asleep as well.

A few hours later, Nico came just as the sun rose.

He wanted to knock on the door, but he was afraid that the noise would wake Cedrick. If that were to

happen, they would not be able to leave.

Hence, he silently pushed open the door, only to be greeted by the heartwarming sight of the couple.

Unfortunately, he had to wake Gwendolyn up.
