Chapter 22 Hug Tight
Susan raised her head and looked at Vanessa in all seriousness, then she smiled professionally.
She nodded to Vanessa, and said, "Yes, I know the relationship between Ms. Murray and Mr. Ford, I
also know that he loves you. But if I tell you that nothing happened with him and me last night, younovelbin
wouldn't believe me. So you just keep holding on to your feelings with Mr. Ford, me sleeping with him is
of no use, you don't have to worry."
Susan pulled her clothes straight, and nodded towards Vanessa again, then she went towards the
elevators.
She was his legal wife, no matter if he loved her or not, she was namely mentioned as his wife on the
legal family relation papers.
But Vanessa was not going to let her go so easily, she went after Susan, and reached out a hand to
stop her.
Susan subconsciously pulled her hand back and waved her off.
Vanessa was now a little angry, she slapped Susan across her face.
Susan was startled, then she turned to look at Vanessa for a long time, and slapped her back.
Susan controlled her strength, she knew she didn't slap her as hard as Vanessa did to her, but still
there were red marks on Vanessa's light skin.
"You are seducing other men, and you dare to slap me?"
Vanessa held her face with one hand while staring at Susan, anger filled her eyes.
Susan was very calm now.
"Ms. Murray, coming from the point of love, I will accept your slap because you have misunderstood me
as trying to win over your man."
"And my slap was from the point of morals, I hope that you have some self dignity."
Susan said all that without any emotions in her voice.
"You! Who the hell are you!"
Vanessa yelled out loud.
"I am simply Mrs. Ford, I wonder if that is enough to do so."
When Susan said that, she didn't waste more time on Vanessa.
She straightened her hair, and went towards the elevators.
But, when she arrived in front of the elevators, she received a call from Tina, she was very anxious, "I
need to go to Z City for a meeting, but Ruby is having a fever. You need to come to the hospital!"
"Okay."
Susan didn't even think about it before she went outside, she waved a taxi and went straight to Tina's
hospital.
When she came into Ruby's ward, she was fighting with the child next to her bed.
"You have no father!"
Ruby was red in her face from all the fighting, her tears running down her cheeks.
When Susan saw all that, she went forward to take Ruby into her arms, about to take her outside.
She didn't get far, when she saw Tina come towards her, she looked at Ruby, and said, "Ruby, why are
you fighting again? I have just paid the fees for you."
Susan shook her head, and looked at the time, she patted Tina on her shoulder, "Go, you'll be late."
Tina was still worried and looked at Susan, she seemed as if she wanted to say something, but then
she thought about it, turned and left.
She just said to Susan to take care of herself.
Only when Tina left, Susan looked for another place for Ruby to rest, she laid her down on her legs,
and asked her, "Why did you fight with that other kid?"
As soon as she mentioned the fight, Ruby tensed up and clenched her little fists.
She looked very angry!
"She said that I had no father!"
"She was showing off her dad in front of me."
"Then did you tell her you have a mother, and that your mother loves you very much?"
Ruby's eyes widened and looked at Susan for a long time, then she answered, "But, why do other kids
have a father, and I don't?"
Faced with that question, Susan didn't know what to say anymore.
Ruby was a very sweet child, Susan and Tina surrounded her with so much love, that she never asked
about her father.
But now she started asking such questions, which was also because of her going to kindergarten.
Susan couldn't make up a lie about her father being dead, so she bit her teeth, and said, "Your father
went on an adventure in the woods, it will take a long time before he comes back."
"You know there are those big wild animals bullying the small ones, your father went to protect them."
"Wow!"
Ruby's eyes widened, and looked at Susan in disbelief.
She did not only stop crying, she was even excited now.
"Mom, so Dad is really cool!"

"But that is a secret, we are not allowed to tell other children, if they tell you again that you have no
dad, then you can tell them that he is out doing really important things, okay?"

Just as Susan was comforting Ruby, she received a message on her phone.
It was from Tina.
The message said, I am about to board the plane, and suddenly remembered, Ruby keeps mentioning
her dad these days, have you ever thought about checking the surveillance to find that man? Don't
need to answer, just think about it.
Susan stared at that message for a long time, she put the phone back into her pocket, and carried
Ruby back into her ward.

When Edward woke up, his phone rang.
He took his phone, on the other end of the line was a woman.
"Hello, is this Mr. Ford? Ms. Murray has been crying ever since she got home, she told me not to tell
you, but..."
It was the nanny Edward found to take care of Vanessa, she sounded worried.
"Okay, I know."
Edward hung up the phone, washed up, changed his clothes and left quickly.
When he arrived at Vanessa's apartment, and entered, the nanny told him in a lowered voice, "Ms.
Murray was slapped by someone when she went out, she is still crying in her bedroom."
When she heard that Vanessa was hit, Edward's brows knitted even deeper.
He opened the door to her bedroom, and there she was still crying rivers.
"What's wrong?"
Edward went to her, and asked her to look at him, the marks on her light skin was very obvious.
"What happened, who did this?"
Edward stood up immediately and wanted to help her apply some disinfectant.
But Vanessa hugged him tight, and rested on his chest, holding him.
"Don't go, I am scared."
"Scared of what?"
Edward sounded gentle.
"Scared... Edward, I feel I am losing you."
Vanessa thought for a long time before she said that.
She had been thinking what his secret wife was like.
And she was even investigating, but she never thought that Edward's secretary, Ms. White, was his
wife!
