Chapter 19 Can You Bear To Leave Me?

Vanessa was very close to Edward as they sat on the sofa. She even smiled at Susan which made

Susan feel very uncomfortable.

Edward looked at Susan and then turned to Vanessa, “I’ll have the driver send you back.”

Vanessa was unwilling to leave but looked at Edward and leaned over to kiss him and left.

After Vanessa left, Susan unconsciously smiled. Edward sat on his chair and looked at Susan sternly

and asked, “Why are you smiling?”

“I suddenly realize why Mr. Ford likes Ms. Vanessa.” Susan stopped smiling and replied formally.

Edward frowned when he heard her, “You called me Mr. Ford?”

“I’ll address you as Mr. Ford because I have something official to discuss with you.” Susan smiled

gently and walked towards Edward and looked at him. She looked very determined.

Edward suppressed his frustration and said, “Okay, go ahead.”

“I wish to complete my resignation in half a month. Our divorce can also be brought forward. May I ask

if it’s possible?”

“Oh? Why?”

Edward was suppressing his feelings and he looked at Susan while sizing her up.

“Because… I don’t wish to work here after our divorce. I will feel very uncomfortable. But if I leave here,

I think no one in the industry would dare to utilize someone who was once your secretary.” Susan said

officially and stated directly and formally.

Edward drummed his fingers on his desk and stared at Susan, “Continue.”

“I found a new job and it is one that I’m very interested in. It is a rare opportunity which is why I wish to

complete the resignation within a fortnight.”

After not getting any answer from Edward when she said formally, she tried to ask him coyly, “Hubby,

can I?”

Edward stood up and walked slowly towards Susan and lifted her chin to look directly into her eyes. He

stared at her for a while before asking, “Can you bear to leave me?”

“How about you? Hubby?” Susan blinked, looked at Edward, and asked.

Edward grinned, “Okay, submit your resignation and start to look for a secretary for me.”

After saying this, he released Susan and sat back into his chair. Susan acknowledged, smiled at

Edward, and left the office. Except at the moment when she closed the door, not only did she not feel

relaxed, but she felt difficulty in breathing. But what was she uncomfortable with?

It was because when she asked if Edward was unwilling to leave her, his reaction seemed to indicate

that he was willing to let her go.

It appeared that her presence had no effect on Edward.

When Susan thought about her emotions, she quickly dismissed her feelings. She couldn’t feel that

way! There was no real affection between her and Edward.

Within an hour of sitting at her table, she saw Edward coming out of his office and left the company

with his jacket.

After Edward left, the secretaries quickly confirmed his departure and then began to gossip.

“Wow, that Vanessa really knows how to capture Mr. Ford’s heart. She keeps coming to visit him. I’ve

also never seen Mr. Ford being so attentive to a woman.”

“What do you think Vanessa uses to sustain his affection for so long?”

“Must be her skills in bed!”

Susan normally won’t bother about what these people gossip but she quickly turned to see the person

who said: “skills in bed”.

It was a secretary who loved to monitor the news about celebrities.

After she said this, another secretary added, “Skills in bed? You speak as if you had seen them in bed.”

That secretary said like she was very familiar with it, “Really, I’m not lying. When Vanessa started in

this entertainment industry, this kind of woman is willing to do anything.”

“Furthermore…”

This secretary leaned closer and said, “Just look at how she pretends to be pure and innocent. The

more this kind of woman pretends, the dirtier she is and men love that.”

Susan turned and looked at the secretary and asked curiously, “Then did Mr. Ford love her in the

past?” Even she didn’t know how she could ask this question.

“Yes. I remember that it was in the tabloids. When she was starting out, Mr. Ford spent a lot of money

to support her and sponsored her to recraft her image. It was a pity that they did not marry in the end

and Mr. Ford married someone else.”

“Why did he marry someone else?” The others became engrossed and asked curiously.

“I don’t know the details. I’m sure Mrs. Ford is someone important in the industry. Otherwise, why

hasn’t Mrs. Ford been revealed over these years? She seemed to be inexistent. Perhaps due to her

family background and support, Mr. Ford doesn’t dare to divorce her.”novelbin

When she said this, Susan didn’t wish to listen and took her cup and walked to the pantry. There wasn’t

anything interesting to listen to anyway and she as Mrs. Ford would be divorced soon.

Under normal circumstances, when Edward left the office in the afternoon, he would return to the office

at night. Even if he didn’t, he would also give Susan a call.

But Susan didn’t receive a call after Susan left the office to go home.

Susan naturally felt that Edward had gone on a date with Vanessa so she decided to go and see Ruby

again. The home phone rang just as she was about to leave the house. Susan pondered for a while

and she wasn’t sure who the unknown caller was but she answered the call anyway.

She said, “Hello,” and the caller was Vanessa, “Hi, how are you? I am Vanessa. Are you Edward’s

wife? Can I visit you at your house? I wish to chat with you.”

When Susan heard this, she didn’t wait for Vanessa to speak and immediately hung up the call. She

definitely couldn’t say if Vanessa could or couldn’t visit. Vanessa most likely couldn’t identify her voice

from a hello but if she was to say more, perhaps Vanessa would be able to tell who she was.

But when she thought about how she found out Edward’s home number in just a few days, she

pondered a while and quickly closed the curtains around the house.
