Luca sighed, picked up her phone, and unlocked it. She felt a tightness in her chest when she saw thatnews article again.

Luca nodded. “Alright, I’ll be out soon.”
“Alright,” the maid replied and left the bedroom.
Luca picked up her phone. Abel had not contacted her since the incident, and she did not reportanything to Abel.
Even though she knew that Abel’s minions were keeping a close eye on her, she felt that she shouldtell him something.
Luca told Abel about her current situation, including that Luke was already suspecting that she wasrelated to the Island of Despair and would soon discover his plans.
Two minutes later, she received a message from Abel containing only one word: [Continue.]
Abel wanted Luca to continue carrying out his plan. She should try to stay by Luke’s side.

Luca felt like she was a pet, and the maid was one of Luke’s tools to keep her in captivity.
“I want to go to the police station. I’ll be fine by myself,” she said.
The maid looked troubled. “Ms. Craw, Sir said that I have to escort you at all times if you want to leavethe house. He’s worried that no one will take care of you if something happens to you while you’re out.”
Luca realized that the maid was only doing her job, and she did not want to make her life difficult, soshe let the maid accompany her.
The maid smiled and cleaned up the dining table. “Just wait for a moment. I’ll order a cab for us.”
“There’s no rush.” Luca stood up, went to the balcony, and looked at the sky.
She thought that once she was back in A City, she would be free from the prison that was the Island ofDespair. She did not expect that A City was just another prison.
She was under constant surveillance, both by Abel’s minions and Luke’s subordinates.
She was trapped in the middle, tortured by love and pain.
After the maid finished cleaning up, she ordered a cab using her phone.
When they got into the cab, the driver asked, “Where are you going?”
“The police station,” Luca said. The maid was quite surprised to hear that. “Why are you going to thepolice station, Ms. Craw?”
“My identification documents are still there. I want to retrieve them,” she said.
After thinking for some time, she concluded that her identification documents should be with the policeand not in her apartment. If she retrieved her identification documents, she would be able to leaveLuke’s apartment, and he would not have any excuse to keep her there.
