Chapter 821

Lowell said so much, all in one breath. He sobbed as he poured out his feelings to Candace in a somber voice. It was the same for Grace and Alice. They heard his words and tears welled up in their eyes.

For a moment, no one spoke and the entire ward went silent. Only Lowell stood there as he quietly looked at his mother withtears in his eyes.

Candace, who was lying on her deathbed, turned her head away from them as she spoke.

She showed an impassive expression. However, her eyes started to well up with tears as they appeared even more crystal clearwith her sick face, but no one could see it because she was not facing them.

He continued to ask, "Mom, why don't you apologize to them? Weren't you the one who taught me the importance of beingcourageous and taking responsibility for what we have done?"

Candace yelled with all her strength, "Get out!| don't need you to tell me what to do. All of you, get out of here! Don't ever show yourself in front of me again!"

"I'll be flooded with bad memories from my life when | see each one of you. It's all because of you. Without you, | would have hada happy life!"

She vented a series of complaints. Had this been a situation in earlier times when Candace showed up in their lives, Gracewould have definitely turned around and left at once.

However, now, she was sorrowful when she heard her mother's bellow of rage. She suddenly realized something and walked tothe side of the bed.

Candace hurriedly covered her face with her hand, but the tears in her eyes were visible to Grace. She was flabbergasted for amoment, as it was a surprise to see her mother in tears.

However, it was also because of these tears that Grace felt a lot more relieved. She sighed softly. Looking at Candace, she calmed herself down. Her mother also looked at her, almost as if a voiceless creature pleading for help.

It seemed that Grace had her first taste of a mother-daughter bond at that moment. She knew that Candace was doing it forLowell. Because she had also become a mother, she knew that if they wanted him to lead a new life, they had to make himforget his mother and get rid of his attachment and longing for her. Only in this way could he let go of the past and move on withhis life in the future.

That was a good intention. She was trying to fool everyone into believing she was a heartless woman.

Grace's lips twitched gently and she said, "Don't hide it anymore. You have already ended up in this state. Alice and | havenothing more to argue with you. This is retribution for you from God. | think it's enough."

Candace had a confused expression in her eyes. She took a deep breath and swallowed her tears. Her blurry eyes becamemuch clearer afterward.

"We really won't care about it anymore. | just hope that you can be fair to Lowell. Don't be so cruel to an eight- year- old child,”Grace repeated herself.

"Just allow him to have some positive moments at the end of your life. Tell him that his mother actually loves him very much."

"That will be much better than yelling at him as you did. He'll grow up knowing that you had no choice and he won't complainabout you or society. Instead, he can become an independent person with a healthy personality.”

"That will be a wonderful way in return for your hard work instead of your way of kicking him out like this, making him tremble andseek refuge with us."

These words caused Candace to furrow her brow as tears once again welled up in her eyes.

Tears gathered in the corners of her eyes, but she just gawked at Grace and did not say a word. Somewhat hoping that perhapsGrace said all those things in her heart.

However, she pressed her lips together and said apathetically, "You can go now. Whether it's my fault or not, that is all there is tomy life."

Lowell pounced on her as well, "Mom, aren't you one bit touched by Grace's words?"

Candace pulled a long face as she sneered, "Be touched? Why should | be touched? My heart has long gone, so | don't need tobe moved. Get out of here and don't waste my time."

He burst into tears and cried in a low voice, "Mom, how can you do this? Why can't you admit that you are wrong? Why can't youtell the truth? Why can't you face the music of your past? Why do you have to treat my sisters and me like this? How can you beso cruel?"

His string of questions were so heartwrenching.

Candace remained unmoved and replied monotonously, "Don't ask me why and don't show up here again. | don't want to seeany of you ever again."

She was very repulsive.

Alice did not speak the whole time. With tears in her eyes, she slowly walked in from the door and went to the bedside to look atCandace.

Alice said word by word, "I really don't know what your heart is made of. How can you be so ruthless?""Do you know how it feels to have no mother from childhood?"

"We're not confident. Do you know how we fell into Marry's plan?”

"Do you know that we were not with Grandma when she passed away?”

"Do you want us to experience all these regretful moments again?"

"Grace had already promised not to care about what you had done."

"You don't have much time left. You don't have to do anything for us, we don't care anymore."“However, can't you be a little more merciful to the eight-year-old Lowell?"

"As a human, one shouldn't be so self-righteous and hard-hearted."

"Since you don't like us, why did you give birth to us?"

"Three children, three fathers, tell us how we should justify a mother like you."

Candace immediately turned her face and glared at her, "I don't need your comments. Why should | need them? You're notqualified to give me any justification and | don't need your opinion on me."

Alice retorted, "You can't ask for anything, can you? Because you know in your heart that what you have done is reallyunforgivable. That's why you can't face your own reality, you can't face the embarrassing, shameful, and remorseful thoughts inyour heart. That's why you behave in a hysterical and shameless manner."

“Alice, stop talking," Grace intervened to stop her from continuing.Alice then closed her mouth and gently turned her face away quietly.

Grace knew that Alice might not understand the feeling of a dying mother because she had not become a mother herself.Besides, she didn't see the tears in her mother's eyes just now. Only Grace did. Lowell was very smart and sensitive, thus hecould understand a little of his mother's good intentions.

“Alice, Lowell, you two can go out first and buy some daily necessities. You don't need to go by yourselves, just ask Alex to do it.”

"Grace, we don't have to waste more time," Alice said coldly. She had completely lost faith for what her mother had done.

"Be obedient," Grace said softly.Alice immediately cooled off and walked out with Lowell.

In the room, there was only Grace and her mother. She pulled a chair to sit down beside Candace's bed as she looked mutely ather.

Candace blinked her eyes several times as she looked at Grace who sat before her. She frowned and said, "What are you doinghere? I've already told you to leave. Do you not understand that?"

Grace was unruffled and she nodded gently and replied, "Of course, | got it."

"Then why are you still here if youhad understood me the first time?"Candace asked. she lanked eA"innpatient acd bothered. She waspanting as soon as she spoke, especially when she was speakingloudly. In fact, she didn't have muchstrength left. Please read the originalcontent at NovelDrama.Org.

After thinking for a while, she uttered, "Since you gave birth to us and there is only two months left in your life, maybe evenlesser, | should spend some time to accompany you."

Upon hearing these words, Candace was taken aback. Her eyebrows tightly knitted together as she stared at Grace. For a longtime, she did not say a single word.

Grace gazed at her thoroughly and saw her mother's old appearance. She sighed and said, "Fortunately, my grandmother hadalready passed away. Otherwise, she would be very sad if she was to see what has become of you."

Candace was upset by her words. She turned her face to look in the direction of the door, probably because she didn't wantGrace to see her emotions through her eyes.

Having gotten used to Candace's behaviour, Grace curled her lip slightly and said with a self-deprecating smile, "Can you tell mewho my biological father is?"

Candace was startled. She turned herhead and glowered at Grace while asshe said, "| thought tha you are)\1)ving Ree fants mere formalitythat | gave birth to you. Grace did not explain anything as she said, "Yes, | really want to know it! | want to know who my father is and | hope you can tellme."

"I've already said that | won't tell you. You will never know it because | will take this secret to the grave," hissed Candace. Shehad already made up her mind and was not going to tell Grace regardless of what happens.novelbin

“Why must you be so stubborn? It is my right to know who my father is.""Indeed, you have the right to know, but even if | don't tell you, what can you do to me?"

Grace let out a sigh and said, "I can't do anything to you. You have been living recklessly throughout your life, what more can |say?"

In reality, she knew in her heart that it was meaningless to say anything more.If her mother insisted on concealing that information from her, there was nothing she could do about it.

"It's true that I'm an impulsive woman, | simply did whatever | wanted to do in my life without considering the consequences ofmy actions. | did have three men in my life and each of them were great men. It was all worthwhile to me in the end."
