Chapter 616
Grace was stunned. Then, she looked at Heinz subconsciously and said, "Have you ever thought that
maybe, women need more understanding and graciousness from men? All women want a pure love
with no hidden intentions."
Heinz frowned. "I love you but you don't love me.
Grace blushed immediately. She exclaimed angrily, "I'm talking about Alice and Jensen but you're
talking about us again."
Heinz laughed. "That's because women don't understand us men too. When it's just a simple matter,
whether there's a third party or not, why do you have to involve such useless things?
"In my opinion, it's just a call to ask Jensen how he's doing. Even if they are not boyfriend and girlfriend
anymore, they were in love before. It would be like a kind of respect for their past relationship, rather
than remaining silent when it was known to everyone."
The two people were quarreling heatedly by the door. Alice opened the door, which was slightly ajar,
thus overhearing the conversation between Grace and Heinz.
She stood by the door, looking at Heinz and Grace. "Heinz, Grace, stop quarreling. I'll call Jensen to
ask how he's doing. It's my obligation as his friend, too."
Grace and Heinz looked at Alice simultaneously.
Alice mustered up her courage and met their gaze.
Heinz smiled. "Just call him. Even if you guys are just friends, it's only right for you to call and check up
on him."
Alice replied, "Well, I'm going now." She returned to the room again.
This time, she picked up the phone. After hesitating for a while, she mustered up the courage to dial
that number.
The other side answered quickly. "Hello? Alice?"
Jensen's tone was full of disbelief. "You, you called me?"
Alice immediately explained, "Don't get me wrong, I called because I heard from my brother- in- law
that your mother has been hospitalized."
Jensen's mood, which had been slightly uplifted before, suddenly sank to the bottom of the abyss.
After a short pause, his lips twitched into a self-deprecating smile as he said, "Yes, she's hospitalized."
Alice replied, "You said before that you had something to do at work." Alice also felt embarrassed. After
all, she was the one who proposed to break up and then she called him. How awkward. She added, "I
actually thought that something was up at your workplace."
Jensen said, "It's all the same. After all, I still have to take my leave."
The result was the same; he eventually had to leave anyway.
Suddenly, the atmosphere became silent.
Jensen noticed that Alice was no longer talking, which bewildered him, leaving him with no clue.
Alice still didn't know what was wrong with Jensen's mother. She asked again, "May I ask, what's the
matter with her?"
Jensen said, "Her heart is not in good condition. That's what I was told. I'll go back and assess the
situation."
"Alright."
Jensen spoke again, calling her name, "Alice!"
Alice's heart trembled and she answered,
"Yes?"
Jensen responded further, "If there is nothing else you have to say, then I'll hang up." He hoped to hear
her words, but she did not say anything.
Alice said embarrassedly, "Well, take care of yourself. I hope your mother recovers soon."
Before Jensen could say anything more, Alice quickly hung up.
Holding the phone, she breathed a sigh of relief, feeling a sense of loss for a while.
As Jensen put down the phone, he also felt very depressed.
Grace and Heinz returned to their room.
"You asked Alice to call Jensen. Did you consider that Alice might not be very willing to do so?"
Heinz said, "She was definitely willing. You don't get it, do you? Alice has fallen for Jensen. I'm afraid
that it is difficult for her to remove herself from the situation. You don't want to help and you're even
going so far as to stop it. It's just adding insult to injury."

Heinz told her, "Rest for a while. The police will definitely come searching for us later."
Grace nodded, "Alright."
Sure enough, at ten o'clock, the police called, ordering them all to go to the police station to make their
statements.
When Grace arrived, she heard people talking.
"Last night, the woman in the detention center was scared out of her wits. She insisted that there was a
ghost."
"What's going on?"
"I don't know what's going on but she must have done something really bad. That's why she was acting
that way. She was so scared yesterday."
Those were several auxiliary policemen talking to each other. Grace overheard them as she was about
to enter the place.
Then she heard someone say, "That is the Lowe family's second daughter. She's always been a
troublemaker who got Mr. Philip to clean up her mess. I heard that when Mr. Philip was alive, he often
helped her that way."
It was only then that Grace realized that they seemed to be referring to Eva.
She glanced at Heinz subconsciously.
Heinz raised his eyebrows.
Grace lowered her voice and asked, "Do you know anything about this?"
Heinz shook his head. "I don't know. I am not quite sure what's going on with them."
Grace then took a good look at Zachary.
Zachary was expressionless. He looked very calm, as if he had a well-thought-out plan.
Grace did not know that it had nothing to do with Zachary. In her eyes, she thought that it was
inevitably linked to him.
Very soon, they began with the lengthy interrogation. Grace answered their many questions one by
one.
However, there were too many people. It was already noon by the time they were done.
Alice seemed to be troubled all the while. Looking at her, Grace guessed that the phone call with
Jensen had not gone well.
Grace tugged on her. "Alice, follow me and get into your brother-in-law's car."
Alice replied, "Okay." She carpooled with her aunt and cousin when she came, then would be going
back with her sister. She had no objection to that.
As soon as they got in the car, Lester said, "President, I have carefully checked according to your
instructions. Last night, the detention center was haunted, but only in Eva's room. Several people who
were detained in the same room with her saw it. It was a female ghost with disheveled hair. She
shouted Eva's name and wanted to kill her."
Heinz asked, "Did it get captured by any surveillance footage?"
"The surveillance video recorded it but after half an hour last night, the footage with traces of the ghost
was deliberately erased by someone."
Heinz said bluntly, "It's fake. Who on earth was it? Did you see it clearly?"
Lester reported truthfully, "Mr. Lowe came out of the hospital last night and went to the detention center.
After chatting with a young lady on duty for half an hour, he went back to the hospital."
Upon hearing that, Grace and Alice took a deep breath in the backseat.
"Was it arranged by my cousin?" Alice looked at Lester in shock. "Was it, Lester?"
Lester smiled and said, "I don't know. I'm only telling the truth."
Alice immediately shouted at Heinz. "Heinz, look at your subordinate. He's evil. He doesn't want to
admit it even though it's written all over his face."
